Not "I'm so sorry that I hurt you"... (heartfelt)

But "I'm sorry if you were upset that:....(I'm not really sorry at all)

Agree with all of these and 'just saying' is particularly pointless and annoying.

MaggieMaybe, isn't the obnoxious 'end of' said at the end of the speaker's rebuttal of someone else's statement. Rather like 'And no returns' from our schooldays.

Don’t get me wrong …

No offence but...

I agree with you, the mere fact that someone says ‘no offence’ tells me that they know they are being offensive.

"I'm not being funny but........"

Or “with all due respect”, usually followed by something disrespectful. But the worst one for me is “end of” after someone else’s opinion. Just like “just saying”, it implies that nobody could possibly disagree with what’s being said.

I don’t like it either neither do I like “Don’t take this the wrong way but…”or “You may not like what I’m going to say but…..” as opening sentences in a conversation. Because what follow is almost certainly something insulting/insensitive.

This is a phrase that winds me up and I see a lot on groups I am on. I find it passive aggressive.
