Good Morning everyone from a much cooler central south coast. Bliss!

DD has arrived in Hong Kong after a 9 hour flight from Melbourne. She likes long haul travel unlike her Mama! I enjoy tracking my family's flights on Flight Aware. You only need the flight number to do so.

I have been wrestling with whether to retire from my choir. I have several physical problems, added to by my recent fall and damaged ribs and also dread turning out on cold, dark winter evenings to rehearsals in an always chilly Methodist Church. DH thinks I should continue as it gives me social contacts I won't otherwise have but to be frank, I enjoy being at home, being quiet and am content with my small life. I realised this in the covid lockdowns, which suited me well!

I take a keen interest in current affairs, read a lot and have no real wish to go anywhere. I would probably be a good hermit! I also feel bored with the choir repertoire we are given. After 14 years in this choir, I think I have just run out of steam. I also know that at 83 in 2 months, I shall not get a sudden return to my former energetic self. Nor will my fading voice improve.
I do go, and will continue to go to WI once a month and find that satisfies any need for social contact. But am I making a mistake by considering resignation from choir?

Our youngest grandchild and only DGS is 21 today. It was so good to see him on Saturday. He was an easy baby, little boy and is still kind and gentle, albeit a 6ft 6ins giant now!

Hope all our GNs with worries, struggles or troubles of any kind have an easier day.

Good morning from a much cooler northwest coast.
Long FaceTime with my sister in the south yesterday and she always comes up with tips for tv shows she knows I might like.

There was an almighty crash on my upper level sitting room window early evening and on inspection, a dead pigeon on the patio below. They get confused with the reflections. It’s amazing that the window doesn’t break.

I started reading a doorstop of a book, Tennessee Williams’ Letters, one of my favourite playwrights, but it’s very dry…

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, blue sky and sunshine but cooler so far! It’s only 26 degrees upstairs!
I felt so much better yesterday so cut the grass in the back garden and took out the dead poppies and a few other plants that had finished flowering.
I have ironing to do today but will go for a walk first while it’s still cool.

marydoll I sincerely hope you can get an appointment for your DH today and that the problem can soon be sorted out.

Good morning from a sunny but fresher feeling Suffolk which I very much welcome, although I fear I can no longer ignore the pile of ironing. Still it will be good to feel my ‘normal’ is returning.

Not much on today but tomorrow I’m off with a friend on a day’s coach trip to Helmingham Hall to see their wonderful gardens. DH and I went there several years ago when there was an exhibition in the Hall of paintings from the Hermitage which was wonderful.

As well as looking forward to seeing the gardens we always enjoy the travelling time in the coach as we can have a good catch up and the time flies.

Good morning from the NE where the temperature is pleasant and will remain so all day.
Very quiet day yesterday, wrote a list of things I need to do in preparation for my holiday.
I am getting quite forgetful so lists are essential.
During the afternoon DD rang and we chatted for more than an hour. She was doing the ironing while we talked, it was a little cooler after a big storm in Brussels.
DD is coming to the UK for work and will travel north but sadly while I am on holiday so will not get to see her.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton day. Hopefully feeling cooler today. Have thrown open the windows in DD's old bedroom on the shady cooler side of the house in the hopes that some hot air will escape.

Well, what a wonderful day I had yesterday! First a train ride to London with DD and DS-in-law, then an afternoon of fantastic music and ballet in the Royal Albert Hall as we watched Sleeping Beauty, and I was wrong about the Ballet company yesterday, not the Royal Ballet as I had thought, but the English National Ballet.
Everything about it was lovely, the dancing, the music, the costumes; at one stage I was quite overwhelmed and the tissues came out!
After the performance we had a short walk to a lovely Indian restaurant where we had a delicious meal, and then it was back to Euston for the journey home.
It was nice to just sit quietly at home and reflect on an unforgettable day.

Taking it easy today until early evening when the family meets up to celebrate DGD2's 16th birthday at a nearby restaurant - her birthday is actually Wednesday, but they are actually flying off in holiday that day. Must wrap her present this morning.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey and rather cool Carlisle. It's brightening up but I was hoping for some decent rain.
It was raining lightly yesterday morning early but I still went for a walk. The rain got heavier towards the end and I arrived home rather damp but it was pleasantly cooling as it was still stuffy in the house.
I did some of my large pile of ironing and then went out in the garden after lunch and put in a small plant. That was it, there was an unpleasant, cool, gusty wind so I departed into the house for coffee and reading. In the evening I watched 'Where the Crawdads sing'. I didn't think it would be my thing but it was a lovely film. The TV, btw, is much easier to operate in conjunction with my Freesat box now the engineer has worked his magic.
Today, the usual round of laundry and vacuuming which I shall take gently, it's still stuffy within.

I hope your DH gets rapidly sorted Marydoll, that does not sound good, poor man.

I just saw her post too and am so glad that Madeleine is still with us. She does so enjoy her road trips and was always so very interesting when posting on this thread

Good morning from the east coast and a much cooler morning.
I was sitting outside with my birdsong app and walking along the hedges. We had 10 birds this morning singing.

I’m going to walk this morning with it being much cooler after I put a chilli in the slow cooker. I’m picking up DGS from school and tonight looking after the little ladies. We had a lovely few hours with the family yesterday.

Yesterday DH went home ready for the working week. We just pottered about enjoying a quiet day. I got a bit more done on a baby cardigan.

I haven't made plans for today. I need to do some washing, but otherwise we'll take the day as it comes.

Good mornings from a bright sunny Durham where it is quite cool. I spent most of yesterday evening tidying up after DD2 and DGS2 went home.
I’m having coffee with a friend this morning and there’s a parcel to collect in Next and something to take back to Sainsbury’s. DD2’s asked if I can give her a hand later, as her DH is away, so I’ll try and get all her laundry done this afternoon and take that through with me. I’ll be back in plenty of time to get little dog out for a walk, then I’ll dead head my roses before dark,
I read ‘Madeline‘s’ post last night, but wonder if it’s the same person, as it seems odd that she wouldn’t post on this thread first?

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where, yet again, it is going to be warm. I was up at half past three watching the sun come up. It was very pretty.

We had about a teaspoonful of rain yesterday and that was it. DS, sweltering in France, sent me a photo of two bottles of red wine with the corks had broken through the foils and were making a bid for freedom. “Ever seen this?” he wanted to know. I said it’s probably due to the extreme heat causing a secondary fermentation in the bottles! First world problems😁!

I didn’t do a lot yesterday except wash my car in the afternoon and go for a short walk. I managed to find a place in the top bed for a plant that had been crying out for attention since I bought it, but the ground was like rock so it won’t have the best start. The water butt is empty and I shall have to water from the garden tap now and be selective.

I have a chiropractor appointment this afternoon which involves a half hour drive so I hope it cools down a bit.

I'm going back indoors.

My sore back has kept me awake half the night. I've ordered a microwavable wheat bag and a tens machine to treat it while I wait for physio and chiropractor appointments. I shall limp over to my exercise class in the church hall.

I have to make a decision about whether to accept the offer on my house today.

I feel a lot more human today! There are big, thick dark clouds, a light breeze, cool and lovely!

I watched Appropriate Adult last night, 2011, starring Emily Watson as Janet Leech, and Dominic West and Monica Dolan as Fred and Rose West. Dominic won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Actor as Fred, and Monica got the BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actress, and Emily got the BAFTA Award for Best Actress. All 3 well deserved!

Had a strange situation last night! I'd finished work at 5, was home by about 5:15, still feeling rough with the weather and meno so I grabbed a little cold custard pot and a mug of tea and was in bed by about 6, stuffed with Paracetamol.

Dead on 10:10, I woke up fast, desperate for the loo, came out, and it was still quite light out, and I panicked!

I thought, oh my cod, I'm 3 hours and 10 minutes late for work! No time for a shower, just a quick clothes change, grab my bag and go. I looked at the wall clock in the living room, and on my mobile, it was 10:10! Looked out of the window, and it seemed quite dark for the morning!

That's when I began to actually wake up a bit after waking so fast, and realised it was 10:10 pm on Sunday night, not Monday morning!

A great big mug of milk, then back to bed! HA!
