Why don’t men shave any more?

DH accidentally shaved his stubble off. He looked like his mother. I wanted to ask him to wear a mask till it grew back.

Me too - depending on who it is though as it doesn't suit everyone.

Why do so many younger men sport terrorist beards? Ugh.

I too find so-called designer stubble scruffy and unappealling.

I much prefer men to be either clean shaven, or to wear a full beard and moustache, or a moustache and shave the rest of their face properly.

However, I can well understand why men could find shaving daily, or twice a day, as some do, tedious.

My grandson has a very nice beard
I had a boyfriend once who I only knew with a beard, a nice neat one he said he was thinking of shaving it off and one day he did, I didn’t like it at all he looked much better with it. He had to regrow it
My son shaved his head to avoid going bald and has done so since he was about 30

My son has the unshaved look but he can carry it off he is tall and handsome.

I'd have stubble, and I'd sit stroking it at every opportunity.

If I was a man I'd have stubble, Imagine that business of having to shave every day, what a pain.

I don’t really like designer stubble and beards but is up to men what they do with their appearance, however, imho older men who have stubble or a beard do look much older and if sloppily dressed can look as if they are neglecting themselves.

MrJ has similar growth Ashcombe, but greyer, I think because he is/was a redhead. I like it.

Greyduster’s post reminds me of my parents’ friend. He was a bobby in the local police after his naval service. He requested permission to grow a beard, as in his navy days. A reply came back from the inspector - permission granted to grow a beard, but only in his own time, not while on duty.

My window cleaner has a beard and a man bun.
Not that I extensively snog him.

But once not having one was like a uniform for young men.

Beards have been going in and out of fashion for hundreds of years. Look at the way they change shape ans style through the 19th century.

I love a man with a beard. DH has had one for over 50 years. His is good naval style, Captain Pugwash beard. it is smooth and silky .DS has more than designer stubble but less than his father. DGS is just starting to reach the whisker growing age, so we wait to see what the fashion will be in this cohort.

Shaven men can really rough your skin up when there is any extensive snogging.

One of my sons has ‘designer stubble’, and he can just about get away with it. I don’t like it, but it’s not as bad as a beard. I would never, ever go out with a man with a beard, let alone marry one. I always wonder why they are trying to hide.

This reminds me of when I was teaching in a primary school in a rough area.
The mum of a girl came to parents' evening and one male teacher asked, "Does she take after you or is she clean shaven?"

( That's the story I heard anyway!)

I’m not a fan of beards. DH was a soldier for 22 years and was not allowed to grow one (they can now), but for quite a long time he did cultivate quite a sexy moustache. The day he retired from the Army, he said he was going to grow a beard. I hated it so it didn’t last long, then the moustache went too. DS has a beard. He looked much younger without it.

I watched a local game of baseball in the park recently. One team were decked out in white and purple kit, most had beards and they all sported purple wigs!
