Going off alcohol

I've just slowly completely gone off alcohol. I don't understand it really. I just don't fancy a glass of wine, I couldn't finish a G&T recently and the thought of champagne is awful.
Is this a typical ageing thing or is it just me? I don't miss it. I like water and various non alcoholic drinks. I'm sure it's probably a good thing but not something I ever expected to happen.

I am so glad It's not just me. Most of my married life I have had a glass of wine with a few nuts etc before dinner but for the last 2/3 months have just not wanted one and instead have had a non-alcoholic drink. On the few occasions I have been out on an evening I'm always driving nowadays so once again no alcohol. Surprising thing is haven't lost even 1 lb in weight!

I thought it was just me! I never drank much anyway but I was always happy to have a glass of wine with a meal when out with friends. I can't put my finger on exactly when it happened but friends now look at me as though I've gone crazy when I say no to a drink.

Never been a drinker. Alcohol makes me feel quite ill.

But l do love the odd glass of Baileys and a drop of coffee liqueur in a cup of coffee, now and then as a treat.

I like a sparkling wine, or Jack Daniel’s and tonic, but being a widow now, I don’t drink alone at home. If I’m asked, in a medical situation, if, or how much I drink, I’m likely to reply that I only drink on special occasions, but, as there are few of those nowadays, I seldom drink alcohol at all.

Me too! Much better for my health and I don’t miss it. Do enjoy a 0% lager though

Baileys is 17% ABV WithNobs so is definitely alcoholic.

I find it difficult to tell. I was never much enamoured of alcohol anyway. I don't like the taste of many alcoholic drinks, don't like the effect it has when you drink it, even less do I like the effects the following day.

But I enjoy a good glass of red wine with a meal and a Normandy cider (less alcohol than British cider or a shandy in the summer.

I used to usually opt for a soft drink but since the sugar tax came in, most soft drinks now contain artificial sweetener, which tastes horrible and the taste lingers in the mouth for hours afterwards and I get so bored with drinking endless fizzy water. I suspect I possibly drink a bit more that I did since the sugar tax, but still not very much.

I really like water with a good squeeze of lemon in it. Refreshing and no added sugar.

Lidl sell ginger or turmeric shots which only have few ingredients - organic ginger, apple, lemon , turmeric so no added rubbish which mixed with fizzy water make a nice long drink.

Sounds good. I prefer unfizzy water but I'm going to look out for that. I'm enjoying the growing number of adult non alcoholic drinks. We don't all like Coke etc.
