Good morning, still, cool and very quiet here on the hillside in south Glos.
Yesterday was very meh, I fiddled and faffed around getting little done except annoying myself!
Hopefully it’s my pre-op this afternoon at the hospital appointment, I’m so hoping that they’ll give me a date for my surgery. 19 weeks of waiting is a long time in limbo!
DH has just taken tiddler out for a walk, he’ll take bigger dog to the village when he gets back.
He’s loving the hot weather unlike me!
Best wishes to everyone x

Good morning from a cooler, but clear Bristol. It’s going to be a hot day. I’ve been awake for 2 hours and am already fed up.
Yesterday’s FAB cafe went well with 15 attendees.
The afternoon was hot, but I went to my library book group. I managed to drop my spectacle case with my “light” glasses somewhere, so I had to wear my dark glasses all the time. I felt a prat. Luckily I had a spare pair at home.
I can’t find the case anywhere and am very annoyed as, with all my corrections, my specs are rather expensive to replace.
I probably shan’t go to my t’ai chi class as I have a 10 minute walk each way in the searing midday heat.
Have a good day all. Enjoy the heat, those who like it, stay cool, those who don’t.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset

Good luck today RosesandLilac

Two tip runs done yesterday and I filled my car up, it is an 18 mile round trip for that but it needed a run. Then nothing much for the rest of the day. Allotment at 6.30 and back by 8.30, the two new blackberries are safely planted now and essential watering is done but I came home hot as I have to carry all the water from a trough

I don`t have anything essential today and will try and get on with crafts and reading. I went to bed at 9 and I can see me doing that again as I am liking early mornings

It feels as though it will be a long and hot week

Bellasnana Thu 09-Jul-26 05:44:25

Good morning from Malta where we have another sunny day in store with a high of 37°C.

Last night’s Michael Bublé concert was very enjoyable. He looked so hot ( in the sweaty sense of the word 😄) in his suit though! There was a lovely cool breeze so DD3 and I felt very comfortable and grateful it wasn't sticky weather.

Didn’t get to sleep until after midnight so thought I might have slept longer but I woke early as usual. I don’t mind. The early morning is s such a lovely time of day here, still not too hot, quiet and peaceful.

DD3 is picking me up after she has dropped the Treasures at summer school, so we will go shopping together. She’s so good to me, bless her.

Later DGS2 has a hospital appointment at the asthma clinic so I will keep his brother at my house. He’s a good little chap and I think he enjoys a bit of one on one time. I certainly enjoy him!

I’ll be thinking of our RosesandLilac today and hoping there won’t be any further delays in getting the necessary treatment done. Sending a big hug, many of us will be with you holding your hand.🙏🏻

Wishing you all the best day possible. Take care in the heat.☀️

Astitchintime Thu 09-Jul-26 06:03:45

Good morning from the NE Mids. The forecast is for another hot day today, the sky is clear and there’s no breeze at all.
We have no plans for today apart from tending to the greenhouse, picking raspberries and keeping well hydrated.
Have a good day one and all!

Puss Thu 09-Jul-26 06:04:33

Good morning everyone from Belfast .
Yesterday went well got everything but it was very hot 27 degrees VERY hot for here.
Haven't been able to sleep I've been up since 2.30.
Washing on the line.
It's GGS birthday soon and I can't think of what to get. Seemingly I have to get a present
Money won't do.!!!! It's usually books .
We had our dinner outside in the garden last night it was like being on our holidays the wood pigeons serenaded us.
Have a good day everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 09-Jul-26 06:07:37

Morning all from West Oxfordshire where 32 degrees is forecast.

I didn’t do much yesterday. We went out for a Steak Night at one of our favourite restaurants. It was all delicious. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the accompanying salad and mushrooms just right. We shared Pavlova for pudding. My only complaint - there were rather rather more blueberries than strawberries!

Nothing much on today. I have to click and collect a new bathroom pedal bin from Waitrose. Maybe a bit of ironing.

Roses - I do hope your appointment goes as planned.

Have a good day everyone and stay hydrated.

kittylester Thu 09-Jul-26 06:16:09

Good morning all from a still hot and sticky North Leicestershire.

My volunteer event yesterday was great - very informative and useful.
.
Today I need to collect my medication from the pharmacist and collect a parcel from M&S. I also need to message a friend who is in India caring for her mum who has dementia. My friend is really struggling and getting little help from the rest of the family.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Ashcombe Thu 09-Jul-26 06:34:18

Good morning from a warm Sarthe with another hot day forecast (35!)

Yesterday we ate breakfast on the terrasse then retreated into the coolth of the house until after dinner. With all the shutters closed from 9.00 am onwards, it’s dark but comfortable.

I hope your appointment goes well, RosesandLilac and we will be thinking of you.

How annoying regarding your spectacles, grandMattie. Is the optician’s name on the case? Perhaps they’ll be handed in. A few months ago DD2’s car was broken into and her prescription sunglasses were stolen. The thief was apprehended, thanks to CCTV belonging to a neighbour.

Keep cool, folks! 🦩💐🌞🥰🦩

Good morning everyone from Anglesey where there's a sea fret at the moment. It will burn off once the day warms up.

I've had a carch up read of the last couple of days and I'm sorry to read about your brother, Gagagran. Even when you're prepared it's still a shock when it happens. Sending you an unmumsnetty hug as they say on our sister site.

Glad your arm is looking better, Karma, hope it continues to heal.

Hope your glasses turn up, GrandMattie, how irritating.

Yesterday we went to Llandudno for the day. Although it was warm, there was a lovely breeze and my friend and I agreed that it was a perfect summer's day.
We had a mooch around some shops and then walked all along the pier and had icecream. We managed to find a spot where we could avoid the gulls swooping. We saw one person have their icecream snatched out of their hand and swallowed whole, cone and all!

Today we're having a morning at the caravan to let the little chap play with his toys.
This afternoon we're going to see my friend who lives on Anglesey. We may go with her to Treaddur Bay, but not if it's too hot. The plan is to have fish and chips for tea.

This time last year we were waking up to the little chap. He'd arrived the night before with 2 carrier bags and a packet of nappies. What a year, but he's doing well and we count our blessings and love him very much.

Hope your appointment goes well, RosesandLilac.

Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Good morning from Sheffield

I will be packing for a weekend away with my friend today. We have a lovely weekend of shopping for Antiques and Collectibles. Nothing of any great value but we do enjoy having a look around. We have been for several years and really enjoy our time away.

FGT I missed your post the other day. Yes we are looking after our oldest son’s two dachshunds for a couple of weeks while he is away. they are a sweet pair.

Take care everyone. I may not post while I’m awayflowers

Greyduster Thu 09-Jul-26 06:51:32

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is going to be another blazing day. I’ve been trying to remember when we last had rain, and I can’t!

Yesterday was so hot that writers group was cancelled. Most of us drive and didn’t want to get into our cars, and the library . I took mine down to the petrol station and that was enough. It’s a five minute journey down the road and by the time the air con has kicked in you’re there so it’s not worth bothering. I managed a short walk after tea, but it hadn’t cooled down a lot.

As far as I know, our group walk is still going ahead today so I shall head for the woods and then have my usual lunch with DD. No idea what the afternoon will bring. Hiding indoors I shouldn’t wonder.

Have the best day you can, folks.

monk08 Thu 09-Jul-26 06:58:20

Good morning all from the Black country.
Teddy bears picnic went well the toddlers enjoyed being outside with lots of water play, it was sad saying goodbye to some who will not be returning September they really have been one of the best group.
Today DH has his diabetic check up and they will do all his blood tests while he is there.
Think we may eat out again still have vouchers to use.
Hope all goes well with your appointment RosesandLilac will be thinking of you.
Have the best day you can everyone and keep cool 😎.

Harris27 Thu 09-Jul-26 07:02:15

Sticky night in the NE. Up early running an early bath. We had tea out in the garden last night and stayed out till it cooked. I often think of these warm days and sitting out when the winter is here. Nice memories. Out with sis today for lunch pray it’s not too warm in restaurant. Have a good day all.

Redcar Thu 09-Jul-26 07:05:03

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Blue skies and sunshine again, it feels pleasant outside at the moment, but no doubt will be hot soon. Yesterday I went to a small garden centre nearby and bought some more salad leaf seedlings and then potted them on. Not sure how many will survive in this heat though.

Today we are interring my lively sister in law’s ashes, next to my brother, in a woodland burial ground. It’s a beautiful setting, but on a hill and I’m not sure how I’ll get down to the graves! I have my rollator and walking sticks and will decide which to use when I get there.

grandmattie how annoying to lose your glasses, I hope they turn up soon.

rosesandlilac I hope that your hospital appointment goes well this afternoon and that you are given an a date for surgery.

I hope that those grans who are on holiday are having a lovely time, please keep posting the photos!

Thinking of all those who are suffering in any way and hoping that life’s challenges are less today.

Have the best day possible everyone, keep cool in the heat if you have it.

Redcar Thu 09-Jul-26 07:05:31

Lovely sister in law, not lively!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Jul-26 07:13:24

Good morning, it’s another glorious morning here 🌞

We have the 11yr old’s final school production this morning, it is a mash up of Pirates of Penzance and Pirates of the Caribbean. According to The Imp who saw it on Monday it’s Pirates of the Curry Bean all very hush hush.

I know I will cry, I just cannot believe that he is going up to senior school in September 😿

Then it’s lunch with my girlfriends there will be 11 of us, I guess it will be rather noisy, hopefully we are eating outside in the shade.

Then it’s all go this evening as the 11yr old has his prom this is organised by the yr.6 mums, he is getting ready here, more tears from Granny I expect.

Hope all goes well RosesandLilac, hope the drugs are starting to work Marydoll 🙋‍♀️

Grandmabatty Thu 09-Jul-26 07:16:57

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 16° and sunny. GrandMattie that's a nuisance about your lost specs. I hope they turn up. Bellasnana enjoy your shopping trip. Rosesandlilac best wishes for your pre op today.
Yesterday I pottered about and got some housework done. I did get a load of ironing done as well. My iron needs replaced as does my hoover and my lovely tower fan is broken, so I did some Internet shopping. Replacing the fan was a priority, however it was difficult to source one. At first I ordered one from amazon with a surprisingly short delivery date. It was only when I checked again, I realised I had ordered a fan heater! Not what I needed at this point. Anyway, I fixed it and amended the order. Afterwards I drove to dds to put out her bin and check for mail. She messaged me later to say she'd seen me on their newly fitted door bell thing. I finished off the evening by cutting up rhubarb and covering it in sugar. My task today is to turn it into jam. Im using a new (to me) recipe.
Today, as well as jam making, I hope to do some weeding. I keep putting it off but it needs doing. Dinner will be something with chicken- probably a curry. Have a good day all

Grandmabatty Thu 09-Jul-26 07:18:44

greyduster I know what you mean about car journeys. When I drove to dds, the temperature in the car was 32°. And I'm much further north than you probably are.

Feelingmyage55 Thu 09-Jul-26 07:25:46

Good morning from an already very warm north of Scotland. I have been allowed to log in today👏. Not always the case and a mystery to me. One of my AC is here for a few days and that is a real joy.
Bellasnana. A belated happy birthday and how lovely that the celebrations are continuing.
Yesterday reached 28 degrees here and I was just a mushy puddle. Three showers! Washing already on the line.
LateDecember63. Life takes some odd turns but I love to hear what the little chap is up to, as with Bellasnana’s twins and GMB’s twosome.
My sewing machine is set up today on the kitchen table and I plan to run up a pair of trousers by cutting out a pattern on brown paper round a pair that I like but are very worn.
Best wishes to all especially those with medical worries casting a shadow. To everyone, kind thoughts. I read every day although I seldom post.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 09-Jul-26 07:33:46

Good morning everybody from Málaga where 36°C is the forecast today. When I unlocked the front door I stood for a while on the landing, breathing in the scent of the pines and looking down on the busy road below.

Walkers for exercise while it’s still early (Himself used to be one) some with dogs with waggy tails, paws not too hot yet on the pavements. Juan’s staff already setting out chairs, tables and huge umbrellas in preparation for the long day ahead. A hive of activity.

I’m enjoying my TiB now under the ceiling fan. Taking my time to decide beach today or tomorrow? Tomorrow I think.
Gardens this afternoon and I’m racing through my book.
“A Far Flung Life” by M L Stedman. Set in Australia in 1958. Highly recommend.

EkwaNimitee Thu 09-Jul-26 07:34:54

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle. It was 15°C when I got up so I opened all the upstairs windows to get some cool air in before it heats up. It gets so stuffy upstairs and then takes days to cool down again after temperatures drop.

I didn't do much yesterday, I'm feeling weak-kneed and wambly. I'm probably fighting off some minor infection plus the train journey seems to have affected my ears. In view of the hot weather too, it all seems a good excuse to lie on the sofa and read or watch the tennis.
I did get out in the garden briefly after lunch to do some deadheading and again after dinner to do some watering.
Today I will have a go at the ironing and do some bathroom cleaning before resting up for the rest of the day.

Good luck Rosesandlilac, I hope your op comes along soon.

Liberty Thu 09-Jul-26 07:35:51

Good morning from sunny Suffolk where there is a breeze which will feel hot later in the day I imagine.

I have my stretch class in a nearby village hall where there are 3 overhead fans in the middle of the room. At keep fit yesterday we all edged towards them.

Afterwards I’m having coffee at a friends who lives nearby and then I’m taking her out for lunch. We haven’t yet decided where to go but the seaside will be appealing. She doesn’t drive so she often likes to go inland to places difficult to access easily by bus.

Hope all have as comfortable a day as possible.

Georgesgran Thu 09-Jul-26 07:36:55

Good morning from a warm, very still Durham. I woke several times through the night, but managed to drop off again. Unfortunately, it’s noisy with the windows open, so I don’t often bother.
Dentist recommended some expensive treatment yesterday - we begin Tuesday. Solicitor was interesting, as no-one had me in the diary! I wasn’t happy, but was fitted in - doesn’t inspire confidence?

I’m meeting my poorly friend today, haven’t seen her for over a month, as I had almost back to back holidays and she wasn’t well on the few days I was around. Later, I’ll potter in the garden, chopping new growth on unwanted sycamores.
gM I put my best glasses somewhere safe last July prior to going away - still can’t find them!

I hope your appointment is ok Roses and your long wait is almost over.
Thinking of Marydoll and her DH today. Please look after yourselves.

Best wishes to all. X
