I hope the trip is a positive one one and believe King Charles will do the right thing..
Family dynamics are a nightmare I know from personal experience…
It’s a step forward and hope KING CHARLES IS AGREEABLE

Whingey

I remember Pathe at the cinema.Queen went on tour round Commonwealth for 6 weeks came back and Charles shook hands with her! Poor lad never related to anyone 😭

Is this what you mean?

I’ve often seen the ‘handshake’ thing posted, but no sign of it here. Okay, no effusive hugs like Diana, just a touch on the cheek and a kiss on the forehead, but no handshake.

Crikey! Poor wee Charlie looks bewildered and disappointed on the newsreel.

I wonder how long the Harry & Meghan reception lasted. 15 mins?
Then Camilla would be dying for a fag.

Dead ringers on Radio 4 has just done a very funny sketch on the situation.
A take off of "Long lost families"

Thank you for the link
I wonder how many people have false memories planted by The Crown?
Another urban myth debunked!
And as for nobody to relate to, Prince Charles was very close to his grandmother, as was Prince William.
Go Team Granny!

True, Mawsrosie the then Queen was more relaxed and affectionate than her DD.

I have false memory then whingy because I thought their trip was more like 6 months not 6 weeks. The ship takes 6 weeks alone. I saw the Queen and Duke in NZ and waved at them. I'm the same age as Charles

mum2three

How did they manage to keep that quiet. Did Charles insist on privacy? I hope so as it's vital that he stays in control of the situation.

I think Charles insisting on privacy is the whole point,mum2three.
My guess is KC would always have been delighted to see this particular branch of the family if a "family visit" was what son Harry and fam had had in mind .The suspicion was, I think, that what Harry and fam have often really had in mind were commercial visits to monetise any "Royal" events by Megh. using the footage as "content" for her commercial associates, like Netflix.
The Sussexes keep trying to do what the Royal Family forbade them to do in the first place i.e. be part-time Royals, cherry-picking only the Royal "jobs" that suit them , on a full-time British Taxpayer / King Charles salary.
I honestly don't know why they don't all come back and live in the UK. Harry wouldn't have to shell out about £5 million a year for security and also he'd have a proper job (by his standards, not ours)

I’m thinking that ANY publicity, hints, pics etc emanating from this meeting will clearly be of the Sussexes’ making and that they (or their PR team) will have been warned accordingly.

I agree with you Maw

I think it’s a misconception that Camilla still smokes.

Apparently she gave up over 2 decades ago.
