Where would we be without humour?

In a very unfunny place!

We all have different ideas though about what’s humour and what isn’t, so would love to hear yours?

I’ll kick off,

I enjoy some stand up, eg Michael McIntyre, Peter Kay, John Bishop and quite a lot more.

I enjoy political satire such as HIGNFY and Mock the Week.

I loved Victoria Wood’s style of comedy and also when she worked with Julie Walter’s and I like the silliness of French and Saunders. Back in the day I saw Victoria Wood live, and French and Saunders live, both shows highly amusing. I also saw Jack Dee live, his dour-faced humour had us all in stitches.

Dinner Ladies still makes me laugh, as does Only Fools and Horses and Fawlty Towers.

Quite like other sit-coms too, including some of the much older ones like The Good Life.

Actually, many things can make me laugh!

What makes you laugh?

grin wink

I grew up with Dave Allen and then Billy Connolly. Porridge and The Goodies. Moved onto to edgier The Young Ones, Yes. Minister and the US comedies Cheers and Friends. Victoria Wood is a master of her art and then comedies Father Ted, Vic and Bob. I adored Sean Lock and I think Jimmy Carr is very clever. More recent The Inbetweeners and modern classics The Detectorists and Ted Lasso But Bob Mortimer and Richard Ayoade on last one laughing is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time. And if you like naughty Scouse humour Gwed has some great young actors in it.

Reading this thread is a great way of reminding ourselves how lucky we are, I don’t think anywhere else in the world has such a brilliant sense of humour as the British do.

Just caught up with this thread and there are so many comedians and TV programmes that have had me in stitches. Favourites are Blackadder (brilliant), Morecambe & Wise (watched with my parents & children), The Two Ronnies, Monty Python, Yes Minister, The Good Life, Fawlty Towers, Victoria Wood (saw her live in Brighton, also in Selfridges when she gave me a smile - such a huge loss 😢).
Currently I enjoy Bob Mortimer (such a lovely man), Peter Kay, Jack Dee, the TV programme Would I Lie to You, plus some BBC Radio 4 programmes with David Mitchell. There are more ………….

I liked “Here we go” with Alison Steadman as the nutty granny ,especially the episode where they lost the dog in the park and were calling “Lord Sugar” ( the dog’s name ) all over the place! It was so clever and so funny.

Humour is an essential ingredient of life. It is essential to be able to laugh while watching telly shows, stand up comedians, funny stories or whatever makes you laugh.

I count myself very lucky that me and my wife often laugh together about the most silliest of things. It makes life much better.
