Good Morning Monday 0th July 2026

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle where I expect the light cloud will disappear and it will be another sunny day. I just wish it would rain!

Not much was done at the weekend, just pottering stuff really. I found it too hot to do much in the garden, basically just deadheading, of which there is plenty. I am worrying over my Sorbus tree, the tips of some branches have withered and died. According to my researches, it's either a drought problem as it needs a lot of water, or it's the dreaded fireblight. I'm suspecting the latter as it's a 4 year old tree which should have deep roots by now. Yesterday I cut the affected branches hard back so now we'll see. I love my trees and would be sad to lose any.

Another sad thing is the apparent disappearance of one of the swan families from the park. I saw from the local paper that there has been an increase in wildlife cruelty including in our park where the swans have been chased by kids and have suffered from discarded fishing tackle...fishing is banned. Apparently neither the police nor the council are bothered to do anything about it, even brushed off our MP. And it's only the start of the school holidays....

Today, the usual round of laundry and vacuuming etc in the morning and relaxing with books this afternoon, I have been gifted more so where to start?!

Good morning all from Suffolk where we expect another cool day until the weather starts hotting up mid week.

We had a lovely few hours yesterday with DS and family and the promise to bring his washer to give the flags on the back yard a good clean on his next visit. He was pleased to know that in our part of Suffolk we don’t have a hosepipe ban ( yet) whereas he does.

After a gentle walk with the dog I shall probably continue reading a book DH gave me for my birthday, an inspiring account of a successful and fulfilling life after unimaginable poverty and neglect in childhood.

Pleased to hear, everyone has safely arrived from their travels.

I have had a disturbed night, after being sick again, due to those damned antibiotics.
I took the final one, of a second course last night, but still have a dreadful cough.
My GP, says it would be wise not to have another course. We really need to get to the bottom of things, before doing that.
She also feels it would be better to wait until I see my consultant.

I had an invitation to lunch with my friends and former colleagues, but I physically can't do it.
It means catching the train and then walking. 😪
Central Station opened fully yesterday after the fire, ♥️I love the bustle of that station.

I didn't do much yesterday, the pain in my hands is eye watering and my ankle is also now causing problems.
I haven't had a flare up like this in years. If only I could remember, where I have put my ankle support, I haven't needed it in years.
They really should make ones which co-ordinate with one's outfit. 😉

Grammaretto, I am so sorry, that your back is preventing you from firing up your kiln. You make some beautiful pieces ♥️

I hope those experiencing dental pain find relief. It is in a league of it's own.

We still have a mouse! We don't know where it is coming from. Despite try ing everything, it is evading capture.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s going to be sunny (yippee!) and 24°C. I’m loving this weather right now, not to hot, not too cold ‘just right’ like that porridge.

The Boy Wonder is off for his summer break. L’il Miss tomorrow and their mum Friday! Crikey.

Now he’s older I’ve just spoken to the Boy Wonder and he’s going to walk over to here, the town centre and meet me in the Loungers below for brunch at 11:30am. He can fill his size 9 boots so that’s lunch sorted! 😂

I’m enjoying TiB and will then ring my stepfather’s GP surgery to request a home visit sometime this week. I’m concerned about how little energy he has. Yes he’s 94 and getting over shingles. However he’s finished his antibiotics and I think it’s wise to be checked over. It may just be a post viral fatigue thing but a doctor’s opinion is best had I think.

A late good morning from Portsmouth TL where I was very happy when we were offered a disabled room on arrival last night! It’s near the lift so it suits me.

Our crossing went well although the ship was very crowded. I prefer BF’s older ships like Mont St Michel which we were on as the layout is traditional with separate spaces to suit everyone. We enjoyed a delicious meal in the à la carte restaurant.

Thank you for all the good wishes for our journey. We’ll set off for home mid morning and wave to Jaxjacky and Grannygravy13 en route!

Yesterday I finished unpacking and just pottered around the garden, spraying the weeds and watering the patio pots.
DD messaged me to say she was back home after spending the weekend at the Proms. Brussels to London is an easy train journey.
Today my sister and BIL are visiting and taking me shopping. It is my BIL 's birthday tomorrow and they are going on holiday.

Visit to the dentist and the dreaded hygienist this morning, gardener to “supervise” (who am I kidding?) this afternoon and that’s about it for the week as the August shut down seems to be starting early. Lovely cool night was a blessing and makes dealing with hot days if I have had some sleep. I have two friends gardens in my care so watering will be a big part of my life from the end of the week.

Morning all from a beautifully warm with a slight breeze West Oxfordshire.

We had a lovely day yesterday. Granddaughter enjoyed the film Moana and the Italian lunch beforehand.

Our cleaner should be here this morning. OH has U3A croquet this afternoon and will then visit his bees. One hive is dead and thinks another may have an infection, although he treated them all at the beginning of the season.

I will take granddaughter supermarket shopping - she always goes with her dad - and then I have things to drop off at a Charity shop. We may also pop into the local museum.

If you have mice and don’t want them, get a cat!

I am going to the funeral of a friend of 55 years this morning.
It hasn’t always been an easy friendship on my side as she was always rather in thrall to her very perfect family but I have known her for so long I shall miss the good times we had.
It is going to be warm and I have two outfits ready, I must make up my mind quickly as I am being picked up at 10:30.

We visited a huge garden yesterday , challenging as the paths were newly gravelled , takes some pushing for a rollator user , and the whole garden is on a hillside
Beautiful hydrangea bushes were the main sight , no watering yet all was lovely and fresh
Off today to visit Royal Hillsborough garden to see how it is now , we visited it when it was new some time ago

Good Morning from Durham. It’s a bright, sunny start and we might get to 20c later. No sign of rain, but there’s no hosepipe ban here.
It’s my usual coffee with my friend this morning, then I, too, will blitz my big Tesco.
Both DGSs are attending local Holiday Clubs, but I’m on hand if either needs to be picked up early - unlikely, as they enjoyed the Clubs at Easter.
I’m not a fan (understatement) of Mr O’Leary’s airline either - I won’t use them again after our recent Malaga flight.
I’ve baited a trap with chocolate MD and it worked!

Good morning from Sunnyside northwest coast. The big golf tournament round the corner finished yesterday and has been very good for the town. Now back to normal.

Another quiet day for me today. I must ring my solicitor to query a bill and carry on preparing my songs for Wednesday’s concert. I dug out a lovely concert dress but I’ve thickened a bit round the middle. Spanx and a black hanging belt will do their best to disguise it.

I’m not sure why my cat keeps miaowing. Food a plenty and the door open to come and go…

We have caught 3 in as many weeks as my cat brings them in and just lets them go.
We have found the favourite bait is frozen peas.
They love them.

I'm currently stuck at home & decided to make some nice scones.
Well, that went well! They look like small, mean taupey rocks, certainly not the airy, puffy, delights I was aiming for. Still they might be nice dunked-in a cup of tea or I might take them for a little visit to Mr Bin.
Anyway I might watch Bake-off later... I can just see myself on that!

Good morning from sunny West Sussex. I am having a very lazy morning after a lovely weekend away in Leicestershire where a friend of over 50 years was celebrating his 80th birthday. He had booked rooms in a hotel/conference centre and invited friends and family to join him for lunch on Saturday and as much time around that as they could, from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning. J is widowed (12 years), without children and is now the last of his immediate family still alive. He has made a lot of effort since his wife died to make or keep contact with nephews and nieces, cousins and their children, driving around the country to visit. He also keeps in contact with those in his wife’s family with whom they had regular, affectionate contact as a couple. Some couldn’t make it of course but twenty-two did and it was a very sociable relaxed weekend of sharing memories and, for those who hadn’t met before or met only briefly at earlier celebrations, a chance to get to know each other a little better.

I find long drives increasingly tiring, partly because the route is so familiar from our journeys to Scotland. I find it tiring even when I do little or no driving. DH drove all the way back although I said I would do a stint if he was tired. We did have a break for a late lunch.

Back home on the south coast it is cooler than it was last week so I may get a bit more done but today, so far, I have had a lie-in and listened to radio 4 all morning. We are looking after youngest DGD (7) tomorrow and will need all our physical and mental strength 😂.

Condolences to Puss and family and UTBB on the losses of very old family member and long-standing friend 💐💐. I hope the funerals are a positive tribute to long lives and significant relationships.

Blossoming, I think we need to see some of your lovely summer dresses 😊. I always enjoy your photos from your walks around the docks.

Marydoll, I hope the antibiotics have knocked the infection out and you will quickly shake off the side effects.

I am glad the Scottish grans are having their share of sunshine and warm weather with Baubles, particularly, enjoying a ‘proper’ summer evening dining outside with friends.

Good afternoon everyone from sunny Lancashire.
Our trip home was smooth yesterday. This morning I've done some washing and done a supermarket shop with the little chap.
I'm giving him time to get reacquainted with his home toys.
He's really good at bedtime about settling when we swap between home and Anglesey. We 1st took him when he was 5 months old so it's just routine for him now.

The garden flowers have come on in the 3 weeks we've been away. DH isn't a natural gardener but he's very good at following instructions about what needs watering and how often.

Condolences to those mourning friends and relatives. Sometimes the passing of a friend hits hard. My MiL felt very keenly the loss of her friend who she'd met on their 1st day at Grammar school in the early 1940s.

Not heard of frozen peas as a mouse bait before. Our local field mice have a penchant for Nutella or crunchy peanut butter. 🐁🐀
