Janet's. It wasn't really called that but that's what we all called it. I was often sent for cigarettes for my grandad or milk or bread.

it was unfortunately known as something racist. Hopefully things have changed though I imagine in 20 years time the answer might be 'little tesco'

MiniMoon Thu 23-Jul-26 10:07:30

We didn't have one.

You really do ask some random questions CrazyUSA and I commented as such on your previous thread.
Whatever your motives, I for one, will not be sharing such outing information on GN, what other members do is entirely up to them, but I do notice that I’m not the only one to think this is suspicious.
Be wary GNetters

We didn’t have a shop close by. The CoOp mobile shop would visit our village pub once a week. I can picture the van now and can remember that the driver was called Jim.

A question for crazyUSA

Let's see if you answer yourself.

You have asked about 10 quite random questions in the last 2 or 3 weeks on gransnet. Why?

Greenfinch Thu 23-Jul-26 06:12:41

That was one suggestion nanna8 so what would be the point of that?

nanna8 Thu 23-Jul-26 03:40:53

Maybe the answer is lie baby lie as Trump might say ?

Why would anyone want to know that ?Be careful about giving out such information.

Too late. AI is already out of control and hoovering all our info out of us......

Can’t remember what it was called but I remember going there and getting cigarettes for my Dad . You could get just 5 at a time then. Senior Service, the ones he used in the Air Force. No age limits, I would have been about 7. It wasn’t very big, sold lollies in jars for a penny each and sherbet bags with licorice sticks.

Greta's. Not on a corner but the nearest to us. A bit further along was Elsie Chambers, where there was a large paraffin pumping thing, also sweets.
