Ordering online and delivery times

Why is it that some companies manage to deliver what they say with regards to delivery times and other companies fail? Twice recently I’ve ordered things online and the delivery times have been longer than stated. So annoying when you place an order knowing that you will be around when they are due then they are later than expected and you’re away.

I too ordered from M&S, couldn’t find the delivery so reordered. The original parcel was found so contacted M&S to arrange return. I was told to ‘Pop it into your local branch’.
That’s an hour and a half away, I don’t drive and no buses.
I gave the duplicate item to someone else to return, knowing well that they would keep it.

Astitchintime

I bought a bathroom shelf that I saw on FB……..wished I hadn’t bothered because it’s been despatched from China and I’ve waited over two weeks already. Lesson learned 🙄

I see items with a 2-3 day delivery, then check and they are coming from China and add 3 weeks.

Sizing is smaller than they say too.

Anything from Chinese companies is delivered superquick here. They deliver 24/7 day and night. Anything from our national post service takes forever, sadly. They only deliver letters twice a week now and that is on a good week and if the weather is good. I think it was probably better when it all started around 1840.

Waitrose, Ocado, Wine Society and Amazon deliver well imo. Ebay varies according to vendor's choice of carrier.

My son ordered a new passport online on Monday, posted his old one back to the Passport Office on Tuesday, had a notification on Thursday that all was in order with his application, another notification yesterday to say that his passport was to be delivered this morning and signed for. That’s what I call an (unexpectedly) excellent service.

We've had problems with house numbers, as they are duplicated on our road (although postcodes different).

I've found that it's happened a lot less as delivery drivers deliver more & it's probably been 12 months since its happened to me.

I was most disappointed, having opened an online wine box & eaten the snacks with it, to find out it wasn't mine & have to surrender the wine to the rightful owners.

😂didn’t you check the address?
