Odd - weird and wonderful - almost unbelievable - or is it just me?

There seems to be some very odd threads here right now - those I can hardly follow they are so convoluted. Some that are so bizarre they seem quite unbelievable.

Almost every thread that discusses a mere mundane activity like shopping or watching TV seem to have far more of the "Oh I don't do that/watch that and I never would" type comments. What the **? Why comment at all? What value are these people adding to the thread?

And there should be a warning sign that pops up before you comment RTT (Read the thread)! People asking questions that have already been answered - suggesting things that have already been discussed or making suggestions when the poster has clearly dealt with whatever issue was troubling them.

And yes, I probably am having a grumpy Granny day grin but there seems to be a surplus of the odd ones right now.

I agree David and best left alone I will not be replying further, than I did as I was reported for what I considered a helpful post 🤷🏼‍♀️

No good deed goes unpunished.
And the powers that be wonder why GN is dieing 🤷‍♀️

Is it - dying I mean?

Fallingstar Sat 01-Aug-26 11:36:28

I hope it isn’t dying I only joined relatively recently. Perhaps my contributions were the nail in the coffin🤣
Tbh I am a pretty good ‘closer’ inasmuch as on a fair few threads I am the last poster then it drops rapidly down the ranks before disappearing.
Perhaps this will also be the last post 🫣

I know how you feel Fallingstar, I seem to be a thread killer too.

And threads that started years before and for some reason someone has posted and resurrected it so it appears on trending. You post without realising it’s two years out of date until some savvy gnetter points it out. Why is this allowed to happen?

Does anyone else start typing and then decide they have nothing interesting to add, so they scrub it?

I do this quite a lot, or I post something then think it sounds stupid and I wish I hadn’t bothered.

My version is everyone is strange to everyone else.

I don’t think it really matters how old the thread is if people still find the subject interesting..

Wheniwasyourage Sat 01-Aug-26 15:01:52

I agree with that, Shinamae, some old threads can be interesting. Very often, it seems, they are revived by a troll, someone reports it, and because the thread is near the top of the list, other people start posting.

25Avalon Sat 01-Aug-26 16:00:49

Sometimes old threads are so out of date they become irrelevant.

CatherineMary Sat 01-Aug-26 16:14:52

There’s nowt as strange as folk.

Very true. And not just on this site but generally in life I have found that people are all a bit odd including me and mine.

I don’t really agree as many are very out of date with possibly the original poster moved, no longer on GN, or heavens above may no longer be with us.
One recently was about a young grandson it was so old the grandson was probably out at work or married by now much better to start a new one about the same subject if needed

The same advice may not even be relevant ten years on
