Update Saturday pm.
Just returned from GOSH and seeing baby Henry and his mummies.
Girls, who were really struggling, are so much more positive and less scared and my DiL looked so well today. Her milk is established, her “wound” is healing well and both of them looked like they were getting lots of sleep.
Baby Henry is stable, but very low red blood count so had another blood transfusion whilst I was there, we were allowed to stay and it seems pretty standard for a baby this premature.
Again, the standard of his care and the facilities at GOSH, along the sheer dedication of all staff is so impressive.
Baby Henry still hasn’t been able to show us his eyes, but each day his eyelids are less fused and the staff tell us it should only be 3-4 days now, his operation seems to have gone well, if it continues at this level he might be able to have some more of Mummy’s milk.
His nurses tell us, with joy, that he’s showing signs of “stroppiness” as he loathes his nappy or stoma being cleaned, and wiggles his tiny arms and legs in protest.
When my DD was encouraged to gently cradle his head yesterday, he immediately screwed up his little face, as if to say “get off”.
The other Mum’s family going tomorrow and her Mum (other granny), will give me an update.
DH, who hasn’t met his beautiful grandson yet, is coming with me on Monday night where he can meet Henry and we are then going to have supper with both girls.
Obvs, this assumes all carries on going well.
🤞🤞🙏🙏🩵
Again, thank you all for your kindness and compassion, and if you want me to, I’m happy to continue updating you all.
