Yesterday my daughter and daughter-in-law were busy grumbling about how slow their first house purchase is taking and wishing it would speed up as they signed their contract 5 weeks ago.

Today my sweet DiL, who’s carry DD baby went into spontaneous labour and after waters broke and baby was upside down with umbilical cord separating, she had an emergency C section and then at 13:00 baby Henry was born at 24.9 weeks, weighing 1lb 6oz.

We are all hoping for a good outcome in the end, please pray to whatever God or spiritual being or keep your fingers crossed that baby Henry comes through this.

DD and DiL in shock and baby about to be transferred to a Neonatal Unit in a hospital nearly 40 miles away. This is their first baby and first try at IVF. He’s so tiny (I couldn’t see him but DD sent photos) 😢

Thanks for the update, Cossy.

I'm glad Henry is showing positive signs and obviously has a mind of his own 😀

The very premmie baby in our family became a Mum herself not long ago. The baby was born a little early, not as small as she was as she was just 2lbs. He was lower than average birth weight but doing well now.

My girl was premature by three months, and weighed 2lbs 9oz.

I've been hesitant to say, as well, you know (maybe)
Onwards amd upwards for the little lad. smile

Thank you for the update, Cossy. Your little grandson is in the safest hands at GOSH. They are taking very good care of him.
Take care of yourself and his mummies.

My nephew was premature ( I don’t remember the week) but he weighed 2lb and his head was the size of a tennis ball.

He got a first class degree and has worked for the homeless since.
He is now expecting his first child (not official yet, but DS couldn’t wait to tell me)

Meant to say ever onwards. Best wishes to the mums.

Thank you for continuing to update us. He sounds impressively feisty. Our son was the same, kept trying to pull his tubes out. (To this day, he still knows his own mind!) My prayers go out to all of you.

Henry is having the best care and his mums are surrounded with support and love.

I continue to keep you all in my thoughts and, Cossy, please continue to update us.

Morning lovely people

I hope you all have the best week possible.

Update on Baby Henry

Today, hopefully, is the day that DH finally meets his new grandson. We are travelling up this evening.

Henry didn’t have the best night, the bleeds on his brain are worsening, but GOSH are all over it and it’s pretty normal for a baby this premature, but it does mean the likelihood of serious difficulties and disabilities will rapidly increase.

The girls are completely prepared for this, they just want their baby to survive.

Long journey ahead, but I’m blown away by our girls courage and resilience and the care this dear sweet baby is getting from GOSH.

Thanks so much again, for your support and kind, compassionate wishes.

Thank you Cossy. Your DD and DIL sound like very strong and sensible girls, who are now very special Mummies. And Henry has certainly proved himself to be a real little fighter. I hope he and Grandad enjoy each other.

Thoughts with you all.

Update

DH met his grandson yesterday, very emotion and fell in love with him.

Girls doing so well, DD lifted Henry up for the first time, helping the nurses change his sheets and DiL changed his nappy.

Such tiny, almost insignificant events, but for them and teeny Henry a huge milestone.

DiL still expressing and freezing milk, Henry not ready yet for milk, his eyes still not seen by any of us yet.

Awaiting results of brain scan re bleed, his vitals are very up and down and his nurses call him “Cheeky” and “naughty” with big wide smiles, chatting to him as the gently do their stuff.

Not planning to visit til Saturday, as other family members are going and the girls really need to spend lots of time with their little one.

I’d love to see them and Henry every day, but it’s a good 1.5 hours each way, on a good day, and I know I have to step back a bit.

I’m here, and will drop everything and go on up if they need me or there’s any changes.

I pray things continue to stay stable and better, I just want the mummies and baby Henry to thrive and move forward positively.

Staff are all amazing, consultant sees them every other day and I’m so grateful to them.

Thank you too, your prayers, good wishes and compassion help us get through every day.

I truly hope those of you here going through your own terrible things take comfort that many of us are thinking, hoping, praying for you and your loved ones too.
