Yesterday my daughter and daughter-in-law were busy grumbling about how slow their first house purchase is taking and wishing it would speed up as they signed their contract 5 weeks ago.

Today my sweet DiL, who’s carry DD baby went into spontaneous labour and after waters broke and baby was upside down with umbilical cord separating, she had an emergency C section and then at 13:00 baby Henry was born at 24.9 weeks, weighing 1lb 6oz.

We are all hoping for a good outcome in the end, please pray to whatever God or spiritual being or keep your fingers crossed that baby Henry comes through this.

DD and DiL in shock and baby about to be transferred to a Neonatal Unit in a hospital nearly 40 miles away. This is their first baby and first try at IVF. He’s so tiny (I couldn’t see him but DD sent photos) 😢

Stress will do this all the time,my daughter has fibromyalgia amongst a raft of other health issues. She has had a very stressful time these past few months and is almost always to be found in the dark on her bed.
Just find time to take care of you, then when He ry comes home you,ll be able to help his mums .The first days and weeks at home with a prem baby are very scary but also very special .
Something you can look forward to now he,s gaining days and strength .

2lbs? He’s getting enormous!

Sorry it’s taking its toll on you though. Take care of yourself flowers

Take it easy, cossy You need a rest. Thanks for the updates. It’s great to read of little Henry’s continued progress. What a star!

Thanks all, it is stress, I’m trying so hard holding it all together.

Or even lovely!

You have been wrung out like a wet towel, Cossy so it is not surprising that you are feeling so unwell. Little Henry's progress is very good news and you are now sensibly taking time to look after yourself.
Following a family tradition, all the grandmothers in my extended family are called Grandma. I like that.

I like family traditions, I mean.

Sending little Henry, his mummies and your loving family warmest wishes and positive thoughts Cossy. He is in the best of hospitals. ♥️

Thank you for the progress reports Cossy
So sorry you've been feeling unwell. I do hope having rest is helping. It's been such a stressful time.

Really pleased to hear little Henry is recovering well from his operations. That is great news. He is surrounded by care, his extended family's love and now the touch and nurturing of his Mummies.
Wishing you all positive and hopeful days going forward.

No surprise really that you have succumbed giving all the stress, let alone the exhaustion. Still some enforced rest should help.

My nephew was eventually allowed home when he reached what was then a reasonable weight, which was 5lb+ but that was 30 years ago, and times change.

I offered to look after him after a bit to give my sister a break, which she took up😮😮, and he arrived - this miniture baby - I don’t think I slept for the 2-3 nights he was with us - it was so scary.

We were told this weekend that he is expecting his own baby now😊😊.

I like Granny smile I'm glad things are all going in the right direction. I hope your fibro calms down soon x

Poor cossy, its all so stressful xx

Cossy Tue 25-Aug-26 12:26:34

quick update

Little Henry still remaining stable 80% of the time.

Mummies continuing to assist in his care daily. Digestive system still very up and down, so milk not given every day. Oxygen remains stable, as does temperature. BP a bit up and down.
Weighing in today and further brain scan today. He’s wriggling around a lot and moves all four limbs. He’s being turned every couple of hours, side, back, tummy, side. He’s still fighting and is 20 days old now. Both eyes open, but not yet fully.

Thank you, as always for all your kind and positive words and thoughts.

Thinking of all of you going through difficult times with your own families.

Onwards and upwards for us all thanks

Thanks Cossy.

Almost 3 weeks old! What a champ. Must be a roller coaster of emotions for you all, as of course there will be ups and downs in the first few weeks, but every update from you tells us of improvements. Wriggling around and eyes opening sounds wonderful. smile

emmasnan Tue 25-Aug-26 13:16:27

Hope all goes well and thinking of you all.

merlotgran Tue 25-Aug-26 13:22:33

Thanks, cossy. All those improvements must be so encouraging and dare I say exciting?
👏👏👏 Henry.

AGAA4 Tue 25-Aug-26 13:42:13

Thanks Cossy Henry is a little fighter with the best army around him - his mummies, family and excellent medical staff.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 25-Aug-26 13:43:38

As you say, onwards and upwards! 💐

latedecember1963 Tue 25-Aug-26 16:24:38

Thank you for the updates about Henry and the family, Cossy.
I hope you're feeling a little better and have managed to get some rest.

This is going to be a marathon, not a sprint so you need to look after yourself too. You can't pour from an empty jug.

Sending love to you all. 🤗

LizzieDrip Tue 25-Aug-26 16:31:11

Keeping you all in my thoughts❤️

Sounds like little Henry is a fighter💪

You take care of yourself too Cossy. You’ve been strong for Henry and his mummies but that can take its toll.

Be kind to yourself💐

kittylester Tue 25-Aug-26 16:36:36
