Yesterday my daughter and daughter-in-law were busy grumbling about how slow their first house purchase is taking and wishing it would speed up as they signed their contract 5 weeks ago.

Today my sweet DiL, who’s carry DD baby went into spontaneous labour and after waters broke and baby was upside down with umbilical cord separating, she had an emergency C section and then at 13:00 baby Henry was born at 24.9 weeks, weighing 1lb 6oz.

We are all hoping for a good outcome in the end, please pray to whatever God or spiritual being or keep your fingers crossed that baby Henry comes through this.

DD and DiL in shock and baby about to be transferred to a Neonatal Unit in a hospital nearly 40 miles away. This is their first baby and first try at IVF. He’s so tiny (I couldn’t see him but DD sent photos) 😢

Thanks for the update Cossy. What a wonderfully supportive family Henry and his mummies have. It's lovely to read the progress he's making, bless him he's come quite a way in only two weeks. x

They used to call those first skin to skin contacts ‘kangaroo care’ in the NICU when our little premmie granddaughter was born. Very precious for mummies. I remember my first cuddle, so very tiny and fragile but so gorgeous it made me want to cry. Keep keeping us updated Cossy 🥰

What good news, Cossy. Lots of research supports the importance of skin contact for a baby. Please keep us updated when you can.

Lovely to read that Henry is meeting his wider family members, and his mummies are being so well supported and looked after.
Your son is a superstar uncle travelling all that way and back in one evening 🌟

Quick update

Feeling sad, not because of dear Henry, but having a really bad fibro/CFS flare up and feel too exhausted to get the train up to GOSH, ( have one totally flat tyre and one slow puncture on my car. Haven’t been able to book in for repair as flat only occurred yesterday)

But the important thing is, both mummies and Henry are fine and DD 3 is visiting them today, on the train we were both planning on getting, and yesterday DD 1 (my lovely step-daughter) visited them.

Both mummies have now been able to have Henry on their chest for those important skin to skin cuddles and bonding.

They are both involved daily with his care, and Henry is remaining stable, he’s having his mummies milk, he’s put on 4oz, so now at 2 weeks, 3 days, he weighs 2lbs.

Bowel operation appears to be healing well, no more lung bleeds, brain bleeds remaining stable.

The girls are hoping to take the train home on Tuesday (all being well) and spend time here and also register him and DD can spend time with her three sausages, whom she’s missing, but luckily they seem to be fine and are actually behaving quite nicely, as I type this they are curled up, sleeping, next to me on the sofa.

DH running around after me with cups of tea and snacks and I’m very much hoping a very quiet restful day will recharge my batteries and tomorrow I can get to fixing car tyres and other chores. (DH doesn’t drive and we live in mid terrace on a very busy road so mobile tyre fitters not really suitable).

Hoping to visit GOSH again with other “nan” (I am Granny, as was my mother and her mother, other “nan” thinks this is hilarious, but my maternal DGM was from Lancashire), on Wednesday.

DDs will update us re Henry tonight, but as I type it’s so lovely to think he is currently very stable and the two new mummies are coping well.

As always, I thank you for reading and for your ongoing kind thoughts and positive wishes.

I wish you all the best weekend possible and 🙏 🤞 for all of you and your families who are going through difficulties atm. 🌻🌻🌻 🩵🩵🩵

That's such good news for baby Henry if not great for you but I can understand how exhausted you will be.
