Yesterday my daughter and daughter-in-law were busy grumbling about how slow their first house purchase is taking and wishing it would speed up as they signed their contract 5 weeks ago.

Today my sweet DiL, who’s carry DD baby went into spontaneous labour and after waters broke and baby was upside down with umbilical cord separating, she had an emergency C section and then at 13:00 baby Henry was born at 24.9 weeks, weighing 1lb 6oz.

We are all hoping for a good outcome in the end, please pray to whatever God or spiritual being or keep your fingers crossed that baby Henry comes through this.

DD and DiL in shock and baby about to be transferred to a Neonatal Unit in a hospital nearly 40 miles away. This is their first baby and first try at IVF. He’s so tiny (I couldn’t see him but DD sent photos) 😢

My Mum was a prem baby born in 1931 st St Mary’s in Manchester. They wrapped her in tin foil ( or the equivalent) she surprised everyone and made it through.
Was always strong willed, fighting spirit I suppose, but very kind and nurturing- was a nursery nurse who worked for many years ironically at the local hospital on SCBU.
She lived to be 90 years of age and was very rarely poorly in all that time.
🙏 to you all Cossy and willing little Henry to be like my Mum. xx

Hello you fabulous GNs

Update from today is our DD and DiL are settle into a hospital room on the neonatal unit in Homerton Hospital, Hackney.

Lovely en-suite room, with a TV and everything they need, next door to the parents kitchen and about 70 steps from where baby Henry is being looked after by an amazing team.

I met my teeny tiny grandson today, it was overwhelming but he’s beautiful.

Amazing and friendly consultant gave me, the guts and the other Grandmother 45 minutes of his team in a private room to talk us through everything.

Showcasing our marvellous NHS at its very best!

Thank you all for your kind loving posts, thoughts and prayers.

Please keep them coming for Baby Henry and for any other our other lovely GNs who themselves or their family members are going through terrible things too.

Night night
Much love, positivity and gratitude thanks

Usedtobeblonde Fri 07-Aug-26 20:26:54

I pray the news continues to be positive Cossy how reassuring that the Consultant is so informative and your girls are being so well looked after.
We do sometimes need reminding how good our NHS is when things seem hard.

Sending love and hugs to baby Henry and your girls . It’s such a scary and horrendous time . My niece was a tiny premie , She’s now 28 and has run two London marathons . I remember my sister expressing milk for this tiny baby whose head was the size of a satsuma .
Thinking of you and your family 💐

Cossy

I met my teeny tiny grandson today...

This was SO lovely to read!

I think we're all emotionally invested in baby Henry on here smile

Cossy Sat 08-Aug-26 08:58:55

We are simply primed for the very worst, but hoping for the very best, I have to stay positive outwardly, our poor dear DD and DiL are falling apart 😕😕💕💕

Again, thank you all so much flowers
