What a shock for your son dragonfly! Thank goodness only his pocket was hurt. Actually it’s a very clever (albeit menacing) scam.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Bright after a wet night.

My Aussie helper is like a Mr Motivator as she not only zips through all the things on my to-do list she makes me do what I have to to.

She managed to send an ancient bicycle pump to the National museum in Wales yesterday and I have arranged to deliver a box of historic journals to the library at the Botanic gardens.

She then headed off into Edinburgh while I did my volunteer shift and cooked an evening meal for me and my friend.

Monk what a lovely wedding it must have been. 🥰

Sorry about your DS experience Dragonfly. It's common enough. Something similar happened to DH years ago which left him feeling very foolish.

Such pretty quilts you make gMattie

Have a really good weekend everyone.

Good morning from an overcast and cooler Suffolk which is so welcome. I think yesterday was the hottest day here so far.

Apart from a Waitrose delivery this afternoon and the usual dog walks we have no plans at all for the weekend. DS phoned l yesterday and suggested they ‘popped’ up today but, given the extended travel time on the A12 because of speed restrictions etc re Sizewell I persuaded him not to.

It is the whole family celebration of my birthday over the bank holiday weekend so shall see them all then. We are off to Potters at Hopton which we are all looking forward to. DGS3 is hoping that he is old enough at 12 to go on the go-carts.

About to have my second cuppa, read the posts and then water the pots. Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning all, it's 11°C here in Glasgow.

Another disturbed night, the steroid injection seems to have worn off and my pain was about 9/10. All the stress has caused a diverticulitis flare up into the bargain.

Years ago, I went to an ABBA concert in Edinburgh. Two of my friends and their husbands were going, spending the weekend in Edinburgh and seeing the show.
My friend died and her husband gave the tickets to our wee group. It was so poignant for us, but a great way to remember our friend. We had a wonderful time, sitting two rows from the stage.
The audience were dancing in the aisles in ABBA wigs and beanie hats.🤣

It's like the Arctic in here at the moment. The atmosphere is rather frosty.
At Thursday's appointment, I asked the GP about DH driving. I have been doing all the driving, with the excuse, I can drop him off, then park.
He was raging, when the GP advised him that it might be wise, to wait until he has seen the cardiologist. He said, I had no right to ask, without his permission.
TOUGH!!!!

My trip to Sainsbury's took longer than planned, the dual carriageway had only one lane, with temporary traffic lights. I was twenty eight minutes in a queue, which went all the way back to the motorway.
I had planned to take sweets into Matalan for the staff, who helped me, when I had a fall last week.
They looked at me in total bewilderment, when I handed in the sweets. No-one had ever done that before!

On arriving home, I found DH in the garden, assembling a chain saw!!! 🙈
I had no words, actually, I had a few choice ones!
His excuse: the tree was dead and it had to come down, before the winter!
He would not be dissuaded. I spent the next few hours, standing guard, beside him.
My own plan had been to cut back my very large hydranges, which (all of 6 them) , which seem to be diseased. The leaves are covered in black spots, then turning brown and dying.
Can anyone offer advice?

Today is my usual church admin day and go to the Vigil Mass.
I am not particularly devout, but that is my safe place. I hardly do any work, spending most of the time chatting.

Have a pleasant day folks and best wishes for all the mountaineers.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry with light grey clouds
Have a lovely weekend melanie!
Today I’m off to a local flower show and them a friend is meeting me there and we’re going onto a Hoedown event in a local village. I’m looking forward to the music and dancing and a good catch up with friends.
greyduster I find some cards hard to throw away too 💕
Goodness dragonfly how awful for your son. Probably the right thing though to give him the 100 as otherwise things might have got worse
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Never a truer word. Some of DH’s behaviours are definitely decidedly strange……something is going on but he refuses to go to the doctor and gets very arsey if I dare suggest it…..oh dear 🤷🏼‍♀️

R&L, you have enough to contend with, without this. 💐

My DH can be very kind, but is a man of few words and totally lacks and has lacked empathy, when I have been in unbearable pain.😪
Thank goods I am a strong woman.

Monk, I meant to say, I loved your dress.♥️

Good morning from a cool , for now ,N. Bucks.
I was awake early this morning so have already been to feed DD3s cats and water the garden. The cats were pacing by the door and shot off on their daily adventures as soon as they had been fed.
Local food shop this morning, a plant to re-pot and then MIL will be over for the afternoon and dinner. Chicken , new potatoes and veg and then a homemade lemon tart with clotted cream.
Thoughts with you GNs who have worries and or illness. Wishing a pleasant weekend for all.

Still awaiting the much predicted rain and watching the world go by. Tra-la!

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Morecambe Bay where we have all only just woken up. DH has been up and brought TiB.
Today will be restful just pottering about and cleaning the camper after our break away. We also have a seed to remove from CDog’s paw. It’s been soaking overnight in a bandage of Magnesium sulphate paste. I’ll catch up later. Take care. 🌸

Good morning from cool South Lanarkshire.

I’ve been laid low all week with a stinking cold, I can’t remember when I last had one as bad as this.

We did our first school pick up of the new term on Thursday but as soon as one of the parents got home we had to leave, I wasn’t worth a button.

I have two school kilts to take up before GD1 returns to school on Wednesday so I will have to make a start on them today.

Wishing everyone a good day.

madeleine45 Sat 15-Aug-26 08:40:32

I have had a weird night, waking and dreaming strange things, and finally waking up very late, and thought it was sunday.
So I am going to get out to the market before it heats up. Will come back and read all the posts and rejig my brain to the fact that it is saturday!!

Good morning everyone from a cooler Northampton, only going to be 25°C today.

We had gentler dance classes yesterday, but even so I only managed about two thirds of the tap class before I had to sit out. Ballet was lovely and gentle. Went to the bakery over the road with a friend afterwards and had a chilled drink in their cafe.

A hop on to the bus today for the shops, just mainly to get out of the house and have a mooch around, nothing that I'm in urgent need of.

I am afraid I succumbed to another dress from Roman this week; it arrived yesterday and is lovely!
I also ordered and received a new suitcase this week, to replace the one that was damaged in flight on my Spanish holiday in March. Two months today is my cruise!

Well done to all the DGC on their A level results.👏👏⭐⭐

Wishing all a cooler day.

Marydoll Sat 15-Aug-26 08:48:53

DH has just come up to ask if I am O.K and would I like,e a cuppa. He already brought one at 7am, with a hot water bottle for my hip..

He has forgotten, that he sent me to Siberia on Thursday. 🤣

Jaxjacky Sat 15-Aug-26 08:51:19

A late good morning from a slightly cooler S Hants.
Interesting history Bellas.
The wedding sounds delightful monk pretty grounds.
Washing is out, sadly no rain in our immediate forecast, we have a large festival near Winchester this weekend, fire risk is high.
I was pleased the alert was sent yesterday, it got peoples attention so served its purpose, I just hope it’s heeded.
Have a decent day all.

Gagagran Sat 15-Aug-26 08:51:45

Good Morning everyone from a still sunny but cooler central south coast. No sign of any rain in our forecast.

DH is out on a coffee and cake run with his bike club this morning and they are going to the Weald and Downland Museum cafe. It's where The Repair Shop is filmed so I expect it will be busy with tourists, and local visitors too.

I have nothing major planned so it will be a pottering day for me and may involve speaking to various family members, at some point.

Kind thoughts to all with problems or struggles of any sort. May the day bring some relief and comfort.
