Eating in bed

Do you?
A full English breakfast, or the odd slice of toast?

I've just has toast, and made lots of crumbs, which no doubt I'll regret tonight, but it just set me wondering if I'm a horrible woman for not getting up to eat.

Lovely, what I wouldn't give to be able to have breakfast in bed

MissAdventure Sat 22-Aug-26 09:45:50

Ah, may I ask why you can't, please?
Sheer nosiness on my part, so don't feel obliged to tell.

I always think the idea of breakfast in bed sounds wonderful but the reality is very messy and not so enjoyable!

I do have a cup of tea and maybe a biscuit at bedtime sometimes though

Yes!
It's like reading a book in the bath.

Great when you imagine it, but not really worth the hassle.

Exactly!

No!
EVEN ONE CRUMB IS TOO MUCH!

I was forced to do this (out of love for my children) when it was Mother's day!

It's a no here too - the only time I think I've ever eaten in bed was when I was pregnant and suffering from morning sickness. The doctor advised having a cup of a tea and a ginger biscuit before getting up, and it actually did the trick.

Haven’t eaten in bed for years. A cup of tea of a morning but never toast.

Jaxjacky Sat 22-Aug-26 10:01:06

MrJ and I used to do this not so long ago, only toast and I ate in bed earlier this year with my hip debacle, not for long though.
I see nothing wrong with it, your bed, your choice.

No, not something I like to do. Even when I’ve been in hospital, which has been many times over recent years I have always sat out of bed for meals.

We had two grandchildren staying here last week.
At 7am our bedroom door opened and breakfast arrived.

A proper cushioned laptray with a cloth, china bowl with greek yogurt, strawberries and crumbled flapjack, and glass of orange juice for me, carried in carefully by 9 year old granddaughter.

A plastic bowl with red grapes and red peppers for my husband, proudly plonked on the bedside table by 5 year old grandson.

Happy days 🥰😂

A cuppa is the only thing I have in my bed no food ever unless I’m sick.

I think I started my downward spiral in my 40s.
Growing up, I think mum would have preferred us not even sleeping in our beds, in case it made a mess
