I’m thinking of purchasing some and I tried some this morning which belonged to one of the men who goes swimming at the same time as me. They seemed good. Does anyone else have them and find them good? What make if so, please.

Ooooo, I love mine, MP3 player, fully waterproof for swimming. I didnt want to pay too much and after accosting a number of swimmers at my Health Club, I was recommended the Bone Conduction headset, cost £39 on Amazon (Guudsound X7).

They sound exactly what I’m looking for. Please can I ask how you download your music to them? Do I need a pc or can I do it from my Spotify playlist on iPhone? Thanks

This is the one I favour and have been using for around 10 years now -

It is a faff to download tracks (from Amazon in my case) on the laptop to make the playlists, I usually update every 6 months, but well worth it.

I have the Shokz Swim Pro bone conduction headphones. I love them. Prior to these (birthday present in July), I’ve had the Shokz non swim version for several years and can vouch for the comfort and reliability.

My thoughts exactly, I'm fed up with runners running the wrong way down our local roads with earphones on. They can neither hear nor see anyone coming, not good on narrow rural roads.

😂I did think the same! I assume it's for pool swimming , but even so.

Davida1968 Thu 27-Aug-26 17:28:05

Why on earth does anyone need these??

My feelings too Monami

I guess it depends on how far you swim as to whether ‘you really need these for swimming.’ I swim mile 3 times a week so am very interested in buying some as it would make my exercise even more enjoyable. If you don’t like the thought of it, nobody’s making you wear them or listen to music. I think it’s called personal choice.

Friend of mine has cheap ones. She says it makes a difference whether you swim breast stroke with your head out of the water or get your ears wet all the time. The former needs the minimum level of of water protection if any.

I never even knew such a thing existed!

Yes it’s also personal choice to make a comment or not isn’t it

Of course it is smile but the OP came on to ask what earphones might be useful, not whether she should use them. I for one was interested in brands and types.
When you swim many lengths in one session up and down, some people relax, get a good rhythm or get motivated by music. If it’s not affecting others, which these don’t as it’s only audible to the wearer, I just can’t see the need to comment negatively. But then again I realise people do like to comment negatively on what other people do that doesn’t affect them, so thank you for reminding me.

Nice to float around on your back in a warm pool with headphones. On.

But swimming is a different matter.
Don't think so.

Must say I’d like some - not for music, though, for e.g. a podcast while I’m doing my 20 lengths.

twinnytwin Fri 28-Aug-26 12:01:30

These sound fantastic. I don't go swimming because I find it boring. Perhaps these are just the thing I need. With a podcast or audio book, they may not be able to get more out of the water!

If you can’t offer a recommendation why bother posting on here? Why do we need a lot of things?

I agree, I found it really interesting, so thank you for asking.

Yeah well it's boring ploughing up and down in a swimming lane, it's not like being in the sea, that has an exhilaration element to it, well that's if it's effluent free! Nevertheless, swimming is good exercise, think of the various parts of the body that get used in doing it. Anything that alleviates the monotony of up down, up down, up down, whilst trying to swerve the gasbags who swim two abreast or hog the end allows some of those side issues to evaporate I imagine. Most people who do sustained exercise are listening to something or other through their ears. Once I get back into swimming, I'd get some.

OldFrill Fri 28-Aug-26 16:43:12

I didn't know about these so Googled it, ended up on a very informative thread on Mumsnet.

What a revelation, might go back to swimming lengths.

Thanks
