Popped in to see if we had a new ‘kitchen’ couldn’t find one so have opened this.

Hope all is well, will catch up next week 🙋‍♀️

Finished the enormous quilt at last! At some point I’ll embroider a label with my name and the year, but not yet. After Milo tried it out I folded it up and put it away.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 18-Oct-26 15:05:52

Lovely quilt 👍

We have The Imp and DD here for dinner, so I must get a move on.

Banana bread is made and smells delicious.

Wishing you a peaceful Sunday 🙋‍♀️

Grandmabatty Sun 18-Oct-26 16:16:13

I think your quilt us absolutely stunning llfl. I neither have the skill nor the patience.
After a quick trip to Aldi this morning, I was very lazy. I did make egg and veg muffins for breakfasts for this coming week. I might wash floors before I make a chicken curry. Or I might not. Tomorrow I have a day off from childcare and I'm looking forward to a long lie. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk.

cornergran Sun 18-Oct-26 16:18:29

Beautiful quilt ladylfl. I have absolutely no talent for these things. We do have a much prized lap quilt made from very decimal fabric my cousin made for Mr C when he was oh so cold post heart surgery also a crocheted lap quilt my Mum struggled through. The latter isn’t perfect but doesn’t need to be. Both will be with us forever.

Pleased you’re warm Charley and have had no vaccination after effects. My arm is still red, a week post covid jab. Delicate soul, that’s me 😂

I’m still coughing fit to bust, well I am if I eat, breathe or bend down. Time it went now I think.

Hope you’re all having a decent Sunday.

brook2704 Sun 18-Oct-26 17:40:25

Such a beautiful quilt llfl you must be pleased, Milo looks happy too, well done 👍
It’s been a gorgeous autumn day here, not warm but sunny with a clear blue sky. We’ve pottered around the garden and did done more tidying in the garage. Just about to get some veg prepped for dinner, it’s the same as last night chicken casserole
Enjoy the rest tomorrow grandmabatty
Hope your cough goes soon corner, it’s lingering a while
Hope everyone has a good evening, take care all x

Usedtobeblonde Sun 18-Oct-26 18:02:06

I went out for Sunday lunch with my friend across the road.
It was a carvery at a pub which has several venues locally but is family owned.
It was very good, the meat was excellent and the veg was cooked nicely, only the roast potatoes let it down, I have never had decent roasties at a carvery, but it was good all round and Iwould go again.
My friend had a pudding but I just has a flat white.
She wanted to call at Sainsbury’s on the way home as her GGd is home from University for the weekend and she wanted to get her some provisions to take back with her tomorrow.
Although I have a weekly delivery I can always find something I need/ want/ fancy.
When I got home I changed into pyjamas and dressing gown and just hope nobody called.
I am now thinking what I can have to eat which is very light and non filling.
Nothing actually comes to mind.
I hope you have all had some decent weather today, sunny but chilly here, the CH is definitely needed now.

Jaxjacky Sun 18-Oct-26 18:18:11

Hi all, sunny here until about two, then we had showers, cold though, glad I’d finished in the garden.
MrJ watched his football, team, we have a small chicken crown for dinner with veg, glad you enjoyed your lunch utbb.
That cough sounds wearing corner, pharmacist maybe?
Enjoy your evening all x

‘Evening All’

All good here. I’ve been out for coffee with a friend then hopped back on the bus and decided to continue inwards to the Trafford Centre. The M&S food hall, then spent a few minutes looking at Jaeger wool coats. I took photos (hand having a smartphone thank you Himself) and am deciding which one to buy next time I go there.

I’ve not long eaten having had a lovely half hour on the phone with a fellow GNetter who is witty and has me giggling!

I’m in my pj’s now and about to watch more ‘Fauda’.

Enjoy your Monday lie-in Grandmabatty well deserved!

Redcar Sun 18-Oct-26 21:08:14

Hi everyone. A mostly sunny day but raining now. My friend on the Kent coast has had non stop rain all day. I’m hoping for more rain overnight.

I went to DD1’s for a roast lunch. We ate early to fit in with DD2’s commitments this afternoon.. A nice family lunch, just missing DD2’s OH who is in the US on business. DD2 was suffering with her asthma, or a bad cough. The new inhaler she was given two weeks ago doesn’t give her any relief so she’ll ring the doctors in the morning and hopes to see someone for some more effective treatment. I’m very worried about her coping on her own with two small children, but she is very capable so I expect she’ll be ok.

I had intended to do some ironing when I got home after lunch but forgot about it! I’ll do it tomorrow.

llfl that is a beautiful quilt. I hope that Milo doesn’t think you made it for him!

cornergran I hope your vaccinated arm gets back to normal soon. Do you think it’s time to seek medical advice about your cough?

charleygirl I’m pleased you’re keeping warm. The heating hasn’t come on this evening, but I’m about to put the electric blanket on for an hour. A warm bed feels very luxurious! My DH hated to get into a warm bed, and although we had a dual control blanket he always complained about the bed being warm, even when his side was cold!

Night night all, sleep well.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 18-Oct-26 21:10:06

Gorgeous quilt LLFL It’s huge! Bet you’re sick of the sight of it for a bit now that you’ve spent hours working on it! Good idea to fold it away for a wee while and then enjoy seeing it again in all its glory! I’m very impressed.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 18-Oct-26 22:26:53

Thanks for all the comments about my quilt! Yes, it is tucked away carefully having been pressed and folded. I need to embroider some kind of label, but there’s no hurry.

Charleygirl5 Sun 18-Oct-26 22:47:26

llfl did Milo think it was a new gorgeous cover for him? He did look comfortable.

corner when I had a similar type cough.mine vanished quickly but does return to remind me. It is debilitating. Does Mr C know where the kitchen is and you possess a cooker? Probably not.

Thanks to Octopus I had an hour's free electricity so dishwasher and w/machine on. Switched on heater in sitting room to take the chill off. Kitchen heater was blasting away. Hoovered my bedroom then had a shower and washed my hair. The shower is electric. I achieved a lot in an hour,. I stayed in night attire as my dressing gown was warm.

Here in London it is 9 degrees, raining lightly and cold.

Take care

The engineer is coming at 8.30 am tomorrow, welcomed with open arms. Boiler serviced a month ago, this is the 2nd time since then. Doesnt bode well although fitted in 2021.

cornergran Sun 18-Oct-26 23:08:26

Here I am still coughing away. It’s been reasonable during the day. Ramped up as I’m trying to sleep. Of course it has! It’s not a productive cough, our surgery says make an appointment if a cough is still with you after three weeks. I’m just entering week two, although it feels longer. As it happens I have a routine appointment booked at the end of next week, if it’s still lurking I’m sure the GP will check me over. In the meantime I continue to annoy Mr C! There are worse things.

We plan a walk around IKEA in the morning, that will be tomorrow’s steps accounted for. I have written a list and plan to stick to it. Hmm. Plans don’t always work out 🤣.

Sounds an excellent carvery utbb. It’s ages since we’ve been to one, must rectify that.

Jaeger wool coats are wonderful fgt, hope there’s one that suits.

Raining Charley? Not a drop here sadly. It is chilly though. We certainly could do with some rain. I’m amazed the plants are keeping going. Hope your boiler is sorted tomorrow. More than frustrating.

I really must try to sleep. Maybe read for a while then with luck nod off.

Night, night everyone.

Redcar Mon 19-Oct-26 20:11:05

Crumbs, it’s quiet in the kitchen today. I hope everyone is ok.cold here today and mostly grey but not much rain. Maybe tomorrow?
Yoga this morning was challenging and I’m nursing an achy back. I’ll get a hot wheat pack on it soon, that will warm me up too, saves putting the heating on!
I spent a quiet afternoon with my dementia friend while her DH had a hospital appointment. Another friend called in to see her, so we had a nice chat. Dementia friend looked quite uncomfortable but apparently can’t sit up as she has pressure sores., she doesn’t speak now so we have no idea if she’s in pain.
My poor DD2 saw a doctor this morning about her cough/asthma and came out with a prescription for antibiotics and steroids. Hopefully one or the other will help her feel better. Her mil has gone over to help with the children, luckily she’s a very active lady. I wouldn’t be much help, although I’d like to.

charleygirl I hope the plumber has managed to get your boiler working again and that you’re cosy and warm this evening.

cornergran I hope your walk round Ikea wasn’t too stressful and that you kept to your list.

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Mon 19-Oct-26 20:22:47

Hi all, an odd day again on the voluntary phone, a few lifts to sort and random queries.
It’s been chilly, but dry, we have heavy rain due tonight into tomorrow.
🤞 for the drugs working Redcar
I too hope Charleygirl is toasty and cornergran had some sleep.
Quiz night on TV, keeps the brain ticking over!

GrannyGravy13 Mon 19-Oct-26 20:37:09

Hi 🙋‍♀️

Hope your DD gets some relief with steroids and antibiotics Redcar I know exactly what it is like, especially the first six months of 2026.
Gym was OK, I am not enjoying it at the moment, need to have a firm talk with myself.
Night night 🙋‍♀️

Charleygirl5 Mon 19-Oct-26 21:43:54

The gas engineer has the heating and hot water up and running. To be honest, I was warmer last night watching TV sitting in front of a fan heater.

There is a suspected very slow leak, so this may happen again. It will be 5 pm on Christmas Eve.

I managed to get an urgent GP appointment tomorrow and there we can discuss more than one problem. Good, I have three.

Thanks for your concern, please take care.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 19-Oct-26 22:28:21

Hello kitchen people.

I’m tucked up in bed and will start reading in a minute - the new Agatha Christie by Lucy Foley.

We are taking Milo to the Vet tomorrow. He has started losing large clumps of fur.😔

Sleep 💤 tight.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 19-Oct-26 22:41:11

Evening dear Kitcheners,

I’ve had a day of two halves.

Lunch with our gorgeous Boy Wonder who is as tall as me now at 5’7” and looks much older than 14 with his buzz cut done at the Turkish barbers this morning. He’d then been to the gym to ‘work on his upper bidy’ with a mate (half term).

Then this afternoon I’ve cried so very much missing Himself. 8 months on this week and all I’ve done is howl at what we both endured this time last year.

October through February is going to be a hard chew.

I need a group hug. My heart is broken tonight. I’ve made a mug of Horlicks but I can hardly see my keyboard for my tears.
Even putting the lamps on in the room upset me because I flashed back to doing it this time last year and how awful it was for him.

This month last year we knew Christmas would be his last. I’ll never know from where he got his bravery. It was around this time he was organising things to prepare me for the rest of my life without him. His kindness and love for us all knew no bounds. On good days I can appreciate how very lucky I was to have had him in my life but, on days such as these, my grief overwhelms me.

brook2704 Mon 19-Oct-26 22:46:56

Good to hear your heating and hot water are fixed charley and hope there’s no more problems. Hoping your GP appointment goes ok tomorrow too
I’m just in from line dancing this evening, quite a lot of newer more challenging dances that need concentration! All good fun though with lovely friendly ladies who don’t mind when you turn the wrong way! I’ve sold a few small things on Vinted today so I need to parcel them up tomorrow and drop them off at InPost. I’ll try to get a few more things listed too. DD phoned to book the dgc in for another sleepover in a couple of weeks, at least I got a bit more notice this time!
Your poor DD redcar, hoping she’s feeling much better soon
I expect the rain is still needed Jax, at least it’s overnight ☔️
Bet you’re fed up with that cough corner hoping it goes soon

brook2704 Mon 19-Oct-26 22:48:40

You’ve had a lot going on since you got back from your various holidays, coming back down to earth can be hard .
