Popped in to see if we had a new ā€˜kitchen’ couldn’t find one so have opened this.

Hope all is well, will catch up next week šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø

What a lovely thing to say about me corner I’m blushing 😊 thank you.

And yes SueDonim things are just so different solo aren’t they? I’ve lost some of my confidence over certain things since being widowed six months ago. I just try my best to focus on my strengths if I can. I hope you are coping okay. Not that there any choice in the matter. That’s the upsetting part isn’t it?

Day by day dear lady xx

Usedtobeblonde Tue 08-Sept-26 09:24:20

I have treated myself to one of those Flash magnetic duster thingys, actually they are not at all expensive.
You just attach a feathery head to a plastic stick and whisk round then throw it away.
It is excellent for ornament etc as it so light and glass which attracts dust is left dust free..
My GD has blinds at all her windows and she can wipe them all in minutes.

cornergran Tue 08-Sept-26 09:16:37

It was a draw jax as we discovered new episodes of Vigil were already on iPlayer so we could watch both in the same evening. Marital harmony restored. 😊

How about you? Peaceful watching?

It’s a horrid, grey wet day here. I should move and concentrate on removing yet more dust. Where does it come from? Definitely spider season in cornerland too, I remove the little ones as humanely as possible then summon reinforcements for the big ones.

Hope you feel totally better physically and can enjoy your day in the sunshine fgt. You’re a courageous soul.

Right, dust is calling. Best get on. Have the best day you can everyone.

Nannytopsy Tue 08-Sept-26 06:32:28

I’m glad you were feeling better FGT and I hope you are back to full fitness today.
DH and I have been awake since about 3.30am so we have decided to give up and start the day. My mind is overflowing with things I need to do as opposed to the things I would like to do. The church is becoming a nightmare. I am supposed to be raising Ā£200,000 for roof repairs. The rest of the PCC are conspicuous by their absence. There is a diocesan visitation on Monday and I have no idea where all the required paperwork is. If I walk away from it all, the church may well close and I don’t want that responsibility.
DD needs us overnight next week, probably, but didn’t book us. That would involve making arrangements with other people to cover what I should be doing. Aaaagh!
I want to get into the garden but it’s raining.
Enough of my moaning - it’s a help to unload on here. When I worked, the cure for too much overload was to book a holiday. This week I have booked two! A couple of days up the road in Norfolk and then a week away next Spring.
I hope you all have a good day today.

brook2704 Mon 07-Sept-26 22:48:19

So pleased to hear you’re feeling a bit better fgt and can enjoy the rest of your holiday šŸ’
A busy day here, I’ve not been in long as I’ve been out line dancing this evening. My feet are feeling tired now and I’m pleased to have them up!
Sounds like good results to me uttb šŸ‘
Good luck with the beetroot Jax!

SueDonim Mon 07-Sept-26 22:35:24

I’m sorry you’ve been poorly, FGT. flowers It’s horrible when you’re on your own, no one even to bring you a glass of water. I admit to panicking now, if I’m feeling even a bit under the weather, conjuring up all sorts of calamities.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 07-Sept-26 22:25:53

Hello kitchen people and glad you’re feeling better FGT.

Our cleaner cleaned and I shopped at Waitrose.

I had a clear out of various fabrics which were stashed in a chest on the landing. I must have bought some of them when the children were small! There is enough to make half a dozen quilts if I wanted.

Sleep šŸ’¤ tight.

Jaxjacky Mon 07-Sept-26 21:25:29

Pleased you’ve eaten FGT and are improving šŸ‘. Sounds pretty healthy to me utbb you can continue your tipples in peace.
Voluntary phone today, not too many calls, all sorted with grateful clients.
Chancing my arms with more beetroot in the garden, it’s all germinated.
Did you win corner šŸ˜
Sleep well all.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 07-Sept-26 21:08:46

Thank you Redcar and uttb
Well all of you really! I oughtnt to single folk out, apologies.

I’m up on my balcony it’s cooler
Nice people watching and I’m on the 2sr floor of 3 in a prime spot as not all have balconies.

My anxiety has ratcheted down again and I’m tired. I always get restless legs when I’m tired. I’ve got air con in my room and my bed is calling me now.

Thoughts to all as I know I’m not
The only one in here who gets upset
Xx

Redcar Mon 07-Sept-26 20:49:06

fgt it is scary if you’re on your own and feeling unwell, and probably even more worrying if you’re in a different country. I hope that you feel much better tomorrow and are ready to enjoy your surroundings.

grannygravy the first day in a new school is always unnerving, I’m sure the your DGS will find some friends soon.

Enjoy the rest of evening folks

Usedtobeblonde Mon 07-Sept-26 20:45:29

Good evening.
I am pleased you are feeling slightly better FGT and can now enjoy the rest of your holiday.
You are very brave to step outside your comfort zone, I have never even tried it.

A quiet day here, it turned out dry and warm but I didn’t venture out.
I had a phone appointment with the surgery pharmacist about my recent routine blood teases.
It seems my Cholesterol is slightly high but no real concerns and he advised me to eat more protein and cut down on carbs.
He stayed very quiet when I said I did drink more alcohol than recommended and didn’t tell me to cut down.
He probably thought that at 89 it wasn’t worth it, he was very wise.

I have tried to get into Trigger Point, usually a favourite of mine but so far it hasn’t grabbed me, I will persist.

I hope you all have a good night.

Evening kitchen pals šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø

The 11yr old had a good first day at senior school, he likes his tutor group teacher. Has only one friend from primary school with him (a girl) and thinks the rest of the students are unfriendly. We said they are probably nervous, it’s now a wait and see

Got my to do list completed, I am both surprised and pleasantly pleased.

Wishing you well, safe travels to the travellers. šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 07-Sept-26 19:01:53

Evening all 8pm here I’ve a nice table for one tucked over to the side

I’ve showered and dressed
Put on a bit of lippy and just smoothed my hair

Ordered soup of the day tomato with a bread roll and plain chicken breast fillet with small baked potato

Should be fine bc I’m feeling hungry šŸ¤ž

I got some rehydration sachets earlier at the pharmacy and have spent the afternoon reading my Kindle and sipping water - very grateful to be feeling somewhat better than I did this morning.

I get myself so anxious when I’m not well my worrries take me from 0-60 and more so without Himself beside me always my rock to lean on

Hey ho I’m hoping a good sleep will see me right for starting my holiday tomorrow šŸ¤ž

Redcar Mon 07-Sept-26 17:45:32

Another mostly sunny day here today, still warm too. I’m hoping for rain overnight and in the morning.
I went into the local town this morning and took some books to the charity bookshop, unfortunately I can’t carry many at once, so will need to go again. A frustrating wander around the shops - one of my favourites is closing on Friday so I’ll have to order online in future, also discovered that Clarins no longer make the foot cream that I use. Then couldn’t find a nightdress I liked, so gave up and came home.
I’ve spent the afternoon with my dementia friend as her DH had a doctors appointment and he can’t leave my friend on her own.

fgt a lively view from your window, I hope you’re feeling a little better this evening and can enjoy your lovely hotel.

grandmabatty I hope you’re feeling better today and that you hear about your forthcoming scan soon.

brook and sueDonim I’m another one who needs to defrost the freezer, but I need to eat more of the food in it before I defrost it

Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Charleygirl5 Mon 07-Sept-26 14:32:36

Another lovely day here with sunshine pm. I have no idea where the rain is.[ didnt fancy any TV last night so back to the paper-crunching, and I found items I never knew I possessed. Naturally, one item has totally vanished.

I was mopping floors late last night but was pleased when I came downstairs this morning.

I have a Sainsbury's delivery tomorrow, so I must make space in the freezer.

Look after yourselves.

cornergran Mon 07-Sept-26 08:16:33

What a superb view fgt. I hope a restorative day ahead for you.

TV discussion sorted. We discovered yesterday’s Vigil was already on iPlayer. Watched that one then headed to Trigger Point. Plan to do the same today. Marital harmony restored smile.

Friends here for coffee this morning. Need to get a wriggle on as both home and occupants are looking a little unkempt. Also need to interrogate the biscuit stash as we have a bit of a competition going over biscuit quality. Think they were ahead at last score count. Must try to do better šŸ˜‚.

Wishing you all well.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 06-Sept-26 22:31:31

Hello everybody I’m here in pretty Es Cana

This boutique hotel is absolutely gorgeous I have indeed spoiled myself.

I’m tired partly from travelling over from MĆ”laga but emotionally too,
feeling somewhat drained - so I’ve unpacked my cabin bag, put on my summer pj’s and I’m sat on my lovely balcony with this view.

Yes that’s the Mediterranean across the street, it’s all so beautiful.

I shall read my kindle for half an hour then climb into the glorious bed - feeling blessed to be here agin.

Nannytopsy Sun 06-Sept-26 22:08:56

We are behind with Trigger Point and Vigil so tried to catch up. Both ITVX and BBC iPlayer were struggling. We are having internet issues. BBC is working now …
It was church this morning, and the sermon had a lot about grief and funerals. It was all a bit too soon for me after my brother’s funeral but I don’t think anyone noticed.
My fairly empty week is starting to fill up. I need to get into the garden.
Sleep well everyone x

Grandmadinosaur Sun 06-Sept-26 22:05:53

Evening Kitcheners.
We’ve had a decent day weather wise on our last day at our lodge home in the countryside. With the wonderful weather we’ve had this summer we have been here since the end of June. It’s been wonderful and am not looking forward to going home.

I agree with you about Santa Eulalia in Ibiza Uttb we last visited in 2022. The hotels seem to have been taken very upmarket and priced out of reach of families which is a shame as it’s a lovely resort.

Night all.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 06-Sept-26 21:45:16

Good evening all.
A nice sunny day here although I didn’t take advantage of it.
My friend and I were due to go to the local park and get a coffee, but she wasn’t well so I didn’t get out.
I did do some clearing out of bedding as I now have Night Lark quilts, what a fantastic idea.
I hope FGT is now ensconced in her hotel.
My H and I once did Es Cana on a visit to Ibiza.
We thought it ok but preferred Santa Eulalia, however I understand FGT is a regular and knows it well.
I hope Grandmabatty is ok with her gallbladder, the sooner it is out the better she will be.
I hope you all have a decent night.

Redcar Sun 06-Sept-26 20:14:14

Hello fellow Kitcheners. A lovely warm sunny day for most of the day, but cloudy late afternoon.
The gardener came and worked for two hours, I think I’m too opinionated about how I want my garden to look, he just does his own thing! He wanted to rake all the dead grass off the ā€œlawnā€ but I said there would only be bare earth left so I wanted it left alone, there are a few green shoots coming through. Reluctantly he agreed to leave it. I’ve just watered the front garden and found a pile of daffodil bulbs on top of the earth. I’ll put them in again tomorrow but I don’t think I want him to do any more!! Rant over!
Both DDs and families were at a cricket tournament this morning, the 8 year olds won their match, so a nice end to the season.
grandmabatty I hope you continue to improve and that your dinner doesn’t cause you any pain in the night.

fgt have a lovely holiday in Ibiza. I hope that tomorrow won’t be too upsetting for you.

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone, whatever you decide to watch!

brook2704 Sun 06-Sept-26 20:08:53

No problems with the grass here Jax except it just won’t stop growing. It needed another cut today but DH did it whilst I just pottered about. It’s getting dark here now too charleygirl so I’ll be closing the downstairs curtains soon, the first time in ages and rummaging around for some scented candles to light in the evenings
Good to hear you’re feeling a bit better today grandmabatty
You’ve reminded me that I’ll soon have to defrost our freezer too SueD
We had the very same discussion here cornergran and it’s still not decided šŸ˜‚

Grandmabatty Sun 06-Sept-26 19:45:28

I'm a little better today. I managed to go to aldi then stripped the bed and did loads of washing. Dinner was baked salmon fillet, boiled spuds and broccoli followed by a yoghurt. No butter! It was very nice, probably because I only had dry toast yesterday. I hope everyone is well. Im having an early night because tomorrow is early childcare day. Enjoy Ibiza fgt. Have a lovely Sunday evening kitchen folk.

Charleygirl5 Sun 06-Sept-26 19:00:15

The grass here remains yellow. The rain had stopped 2 days ago by the time I had removed my washing. Thunder and lightning is always promised but we get sunshine instead. Fine for clothes drying but little else.

The evenings are drawing in and it is becoming a tad colder. I love the meals you have prepared or are doing. I haven't decided, but there is little choice. I must also get rid of the UFO's then I may have space in the drawers.

Jaxjacky Sun 06-Sept-26 18:02:43

Hi all, pleasant enough weather today, washing dried easily. I wish our grass was green corner the odd piece of moss and stalky weeds have been strimmed, the rest is beige. We need lots and lots of rain please.
I cleaned today while MrJ was off watching bowls, slowly rebuilding my energy after hip gate, it’s settling noe the cortisone injection has bedded in šŸ¤ž.
Have a decent journey FGT and a lovely stay.
Chicken is roasting, smells good.
Enjoy your evening all.
