Soops Kitchen, a place of refuge, reflection and revelry.

May I introduce myself as Charley? I have not been in the land of the living for a week but I have now returned.

I am going to have a shower and wash my hair. A hoover upstairs will be next. I will not overdo it because I am still very tired.

Thank you all for your concern and kindness.

Morning all from a windy but blue sky West Oxfordshire.

We are taking our daughter out for lunch today before she goes back to London.

Have a good day everyone. I’m thinking especially of those of you with difficulties.

Thanks, although reminded this am I had totally forgotten about clocks although I only have 2 watches = 3 Alexas and I assume she will sort herself out..

I have turned more than one corner, I found I have a working w/machine and dishwasher and even changed my bedding, but couldn't manage the pillowcases. Not a disaster.

Thank you all again for caring, it was most appreciated.

Thank you everyone for cring, it is much appreciated.

Nannytopsy you are having an awful time at present, your DH being the major worry.

If others haven't had the COVID jab yet, allow 7 days to recover in case you end up like me. I have never had a reaction before.

It’s very wet and windy here and it’s forecast worse for tomorrow so it’ll definitely be a day for staying inside
Good news about your DS and Sil nannytopsy, hope they’re both much better soon, always a worry though
I’ve not done a lot today, I was out with DH this morning and then pottered inside all afternoon. I had one eye on the tv this evening and the other was online shopping, I’ve also now got a few ideas for Christmas Jax
Hoping you’re on the mend now corner and charley
An extra hour in bed tonight is very welcome
Take care all x

Good news Nannytopsy onwards for them both.
I think you’re right utbb we have a friend who has been rough for well over a week ‘flu symptoms but not as fatiguing’, people aren’t testing.

Good evening
DS is home on a virtual wall with drugs to get rid of his xs fluid. He has lost 14kg since Wednesday!! Also drugs to reduce blood pressure and support his heart. He’s OK but there will be lots of tests.
DSiL has his cardioversion which was successful so that’s good news.
I’m glad you are feeling a bit better Charleygirl - look after yourself still.
We are in Dorset saying farewell to a lady who died in early summer but didn’t want a funeral. Lovely evening with her family made up for a long and wet drive down here. We shall make the return tomorrow.
Sleep well everyone

‘Evening All’

Back home half an hour ago from my neighbour’s. Our Saturday night Strictly fest with wine and supper in front of the tv. (We do more chatting than watching to be honest!).

Hopefully your double dose of meds is doing the trick Jax 🤞
Corner no better but no worse sounds like progress 🤞

I noticed Baggs had posted on a thread recently. That was good to see. Hopefully she and Mr.Soops are coping with their grief. I’m sure we all think of them (and times past) from time to time with fondness. x

It is blowing wildly here in Stockport and it has rained all day, at times torrential .
I-have been in all day
My GD has been looking after her nephew today and they called in with him as they were going to a garden centre and invited me along but I decided to stay warm and cozy.

I haven’t done anything but read really and had lamb chops with a jacket potato for my evening meal.
I hope the poorlies among you soon show sign of improvement, I am convinced as are others that for some, Covid is doing the rounds, with very different symptoms to previous cases.
I have been in bed for about an hour so with the extra hour tonight I shall be here for quite a while.
Stay in and stay safe everyone.

It’s been blowing and pouring all day today, still going out there. Mr C convinced me it had eased off this afternoon . followed by it will do you good to get out. Why did I believe him? Horizontal rain and I could hardly stand up. The car took us to a very busy garden centre where we had a look round and a cuppa before coming back home. I’m sure we taught the car to swim in the very deep puddles. Tomorrow should be drier 🤞. Still windy though.

Sorry to hear the news about Milo ladylfl. A sad time for you.

You sound a bit better jax. I’m wondering about charley.

I’m no worse or no better today. Maybe a corner has been turned.

Go carefully outside tomorrow everyone. The wind is still going to be a blowing.

I need a small plough in front of me Redcar a leaf one rather than snow!

A dull dry morning but a grim afternoon, heavy rain and a stiff breeze. I think it’s stopped raining now, I can’t hear it battering the window.
I managed to get out and post some letters this morning, it started raining as I was walking home.
I changed the bedclothes with the usual fight with the duvet cover. Got it all washed and tumble dried. Then pottered indoors, watched some of the gymnastics from Rotterdam and read the paper.

charleygirl I hope you’ve managed to eat more today.

jaxjacky I’ll have cottage pie for dinner tomorrow, I have some in the freezer - home made for once! I’m pleased your reflux is under control again. Stay indoors now the leaves are coming off the trees!

Stay safe everyone, especially those living in the path of Storm Boelo.

Hi Jaxjacky. The wind has to ramp up here overnight. I'm hoping we don't have power cuts. I'm glad you are feeling a bit better.

Hi all, a much windier and wet day here, in fact is still blowing a hoolie, gusts of 60mph apparently.l not us, but some a few miles away have no power. No car either part of the day, my son borrowed it yesterday.
So, stuck indoors, I did my exercises twice, then caught up some TV and researched potential Christmas presents. MrJ went to play a bowls match.
Cottage pie, cauli and carrots were yummy, my reflux seems to be under control phew.
I hope you slept Charley and have eaten, little and often is a plan.
llfl a difficult time ❤️
Stay safe, particularly those way up north xx

Poor Milo, a much loved dog. He must be feeling rotten but can't tell you.I hope his scan next week is not inconclusive.

I was meeting two different sets of friends Monday and Tuesday but I am going to cancel both. I haven't even put rubbish out and still don't feel up to socialising.

I think the 1/2 steak will include my weekend food. of zilch. Who knows. I may wake up as bright as a lark. I have slept nearly all day which doesn't bode well for tonight.

Sorry it is me, me me. My brain can't retain anything so good job I don't have to struggle to work.

So sorry to hear about Milo llfl, a sad time, sending ❤️
Pleased to hear you’ve had something to eat charley and hoping you feel a bit better again tomorrow
We’ve had a bit of rain today but not much, the wind and rain is forecast to arrive from tomorrow onwards so we’ll go out in the morning, home by lunch time and stay in the rest of the day
Sounds like you’ve had a lovely warm snug day at home grandmabatty just perfect 😊

FGS2 the best version is by Christine Perfect singing with Chicken Shack. Otherwise, Etta James who did it originally.

Sorry to hear about Milo LLFL. Not good news. A much loved member of your family I’m sure.

I’ve just asked Alexa to play your favourite ever song, because I’m curious. 😊

‘Evening All’.

We’ve heard from the Boy Wonder on his school trip in Iceland tonight. He’s seen the northern lights! Lucky boy as that’s never a given.

I didn’t go out today. Pottered, vacuumed, changed shoes over in wardrobe from summer to winter.

My neighbour friend and I decided at 5pm to go out. We went to a local bar and spent a couple of hours enjoying wine then crossed over the road for a curry. Last time I went there I was with Himself. Memories flooded but I held tight and was okay.

Home ½ hour ago. Pjs on and I’m going to watch Traitors now on catch up.

No wind here. It rained this afternoon, but nothing ‘stormy’.

Sleep tight Kitcheners.
Thoughts with those in the quiet corner, there for whatever reason. x

A wet day and very windy this afternoon. Both DDs and all the DGDs got soaked on the way home from school this afternoon.
DD2 has finally received both inhalers from her pharmacy so hopefully she will be a lot better from now on. No doubt the steroids are helping too. Her OH arrived home late afternoon from 10 days in the US attending conferences and meetings.

I’ve pottered about all day, sorted out my car insurance renewal, put some photos in frames and tidied the lounge and dining room. We’ve just had a series of power outages, so I’ve been round resetting the various clocks and the dreaded controls for the underfloor heating in the bathroom! I’ve done it so many times I don’t need the instructions any more.

charleygirl I’m glad you’ ve been able to eat something today. Take it easy, you’ve got a few more days to get the house straight before the cleaner comes. Don’t knock yourself out doing it though.

llfl sorry to hear about Milo, he’s obviously a much loved family member.

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone, stay warm and dry.

llfl I'm sorry to hear about Milo. Pets are part of the family, aren't they?

Hello kitchen people.

A good start to the day - a full English breakfast in our nearby town, followed by a very good Art Society lecture on Turner and Constable. After lunch I had an excellent haircut.

Then, the Vet telephoned with Milo's blood test results. Not good. He has a multitude of ailments which she can't identify fully until he has a scan, which we will for book next week. She didn't encourage us to go for different treatments as he is 16 but suggested that if he has something sinister, she would provide palliative care treatment. Apparently he is anaemic, has low white blood cells, an excess of protein {?} and has lost a lot of weight, in addition to losing clumps of fur for no apparent reason. As you can imagine, we are upset about this. Our daughter is home for the weekend so will tell her, but won't let our sons know until we know what is happening for certain.

So many of us with sadness, but life has to go on. My favourite song ever is playing on Radio 6 right now - I'd rather go blind.

Hi all, we had torrential rain overnight into this morning then it dried up for a while, squally showers later and dry with gusty winds now.
Quick trip to the library for my book club book, then Yesco delivered. Followed by GP as my reflux/GORD is playing up, existing medication to be doubled up..
I bet you enjoyed that Charley, everything else can go hang for a day or two while you recover.
Have a pleasant evening all.

Glad you have had something to eat Charleygirl. We are not having the wind issues which further south are enduring. It is a rain event here. The next storm will hit us tomorrow evening and that will be wind and rain.
I picked up trout fillets from Aldi again this morning, so that is dinner sorted for tonight and tomorrow. The washing has been mostly done and dried and the dishwasher run. I'll empty it soon and clean it. It's been a day for staying home in the warmth. What the Danish or Swedish call hygge. Lamps are on, candles are lit and the fire is on(electric light only). The heating has been on all day so I'm snug as a bug. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk

Charleygirl5 baby steps in the right direction.

It’s been grey and drizzly here all day, 20 minutes ago the wind got up and the rain came down really heavily, just in time to drench everyone at school pick up.

We are off out with DD and her boys this evening, to our local Italian restaurant. All of our GC love this one, and in typical Italian fashion the staff make a fuss of them.

I hope you all keep dry and safe 🙋‍♀️

I have just enjoyed 1/2 a steak with mushrooms,. Rare, succulent and tender. I couldnt have coped with any more and that is probably today;s meal

In case we get a storm I went out in the rain to move a couple of chairs. When I have more strength a shower and hair wash, Keep your windows closed!

I have definitely turned a corner but not far. Living on my own doesn't help when J see the downstairs at least should be hoovered..My cleaner comes on Tuesday, but I don't want her to see the house in its present state. Slobs retreat.
