Popped in to see if we had a new ā€˜kitchen’ couldn’t find one so have opened this.

Hope all is well, will catch up next week šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø

Good to hear Charleygirl šŸ‘
You too corner keep taking it easy.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 23-Oct-26 10:07:02

Ooh it’s lovely here in Manchester with the sun shining (and no wind - yet anyway!).

You sound more upbeat this morning Charleygirl. Good.
We were concerned.

cornergran Fri 23-Oct-26 09:56:08

You sound better, charley, that’s a relief. We both had unpleasant reactions to our covid jabs. First time. Mr C was over his in three days, general tiredness and a bright red arm. The cough arrived the afternoon I had the jab and hasn’t left me although I do think there is some progress now. I am very tired. Suspect the jab has triggered an unpleasant flare of CFS/fibro. You sound as if you’ll eat today which is excellent news before surgery.

I’m horrified utbb, what a thing to do to your friend.

Good to hear from you blossoming, I’m pleased you’ve been able to begun gentle walks, stay dry today though.

Hope there is some reassuring news today nannyt.

Cough-wise thank you all for your care. The cough is certainly less prominent if still annoying. Our GP practice encourages anyone with a cough without worrying symptoms like chest pain to wait three weeks before seeking an appointment. As it happens I have a routine appointment booked for next Friday, if the cough is still with me it will be the first thing the GP notices. Not quite three weeks but almost and I’m sure she would respond appropriately.

We’ve had a lot of rain, so far the promised wind gusts of 50mph+ haven’t reached us. I’ll be pleased if they don’t although it’s often very windy here.

Stay dry everyone.

jax 3-4 days later I stupidly thought I was clear. I do feel better today, having slept most of pm and went to bed at 10pm waking up at 2 am wanting a shower (needed) and wash my hair. It was too cold and early. I have felt unsafe showering for 2 days but the door has been closed!

I also wanted 1/2 a steak for breakfast! Haven't eaten anything yet, only the banana between Monday and today.

I am having surgery a week on Monday so I must be prepared for that.

uttb that was a dreadful think for your friend to do.

fgt I hate Horlicks. I had a fizzy orange and enjoyed it,

Castle25 Thu 22-Oct-26 23:20:21

Usedtobeblonbe that is such a betrayal of her mother’s trust. A photo like that was taken of my mother and I insisted it was deleted even though it was never going to be posted anywhere. I hope your friend is never made aware this has happened to her.

GrandmaC47 Thu 22-Oct-26 22:50:24

Nannytopsy and Fgt a worrying time for you both, sending hugs.
Good to see you, Blossoming, I miss your Lytham photos, fortunately my sister and brother in law were there earlier this week and sent me a photo. I’d love to visit there again. It was her first outing since being discharged from hospital. Hope you continue to feel better.

Nannytopsy Thu 22-Oct-26 22:03:14

DS is local, SiL in Kent. I’m sure they will be ok. šŸ¤ž

brook2704 Thu 22-Oct-26 21:19:52

Lovely to see you here Blossoming and catch up on your news, take care
How awful uttb could you ask her to remove it?

Usedtobeblonde Thu 22-Oct-26 21:06:19

My friend’s D has just put a photograph on Facebook of her mother asleep with her mouth wide open.
I am spitting feathers on her behalf it is awful.
I know only her friends can see it but it is such an invasion of her privacy and dignity.
I have just told my D she would be out of my will if she did anything like that.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 22-Oct-26 20:57:49

šŸ‘‹ Blossoming it’s good you’ve popped in. Glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better and back to enjoying your stroll about the docks.

Charleygirl you sound low tonight dear lady. I hope that getting a few calories into yourself each day now will see a boost in your energy and mood. šŸ¤ž

I’m about to make myself a mug of Horlicks and watch Traitors. I put the heating on late afternoon for a couple of hours. First time in months.

Jaxjacky Thu 22-Oct-26 20:49:41

Hi Blossoming I feel tired too.
Charleygirl how long after your jabs did you feel ill? At least you have eaten something.
Rain started here in S Hants, wind to follow later.

Charleygirl5 Thu 22-Oct-26 20:44:48

Granygravy no better. I had a banana and two snacking cheese.

Nannytopsy that is horrendous, two fit young lads. Are they in the same hospital or are you running around?

Heaven knows if I will ever get better.

Redcar Thu 22-Oct-26 20:41:14

Good to see you again blossoming, I hope you continue to feel better. Enjoy your walks with mr B, Lomb may they continue!

Blossoming Thu 22-Oct-26 20:10:15

Nannytopsy I hope your young men improve, such a worry for you xx

I’m still here, not been too well recently but am starting to feel better. Still managing to get out most days with MrB.

I too have been for my flu jab today Jax and have slept most of the afternoon! The jabs always seem to knock me out.

Goodnight, TOYA xx

Nannytopsy Thu 22-Oct-26 19:34:40

I hope your step father is ok FGT. A concern for you x

brook2704 Thu 22-Oct-26 18:43:38

Such a worry nannytopsy I hope both your DS and DSil are soon on the road to recovery, sending hugs
Also a worry for you fgt, hoping your stepfather gets the monitor he needs
My quiet day didn’t go to plan as midway through the morning one of my closest friends messaged to say her sister had died. She’d been poorly a while but it was still such a shock. My friend is on her own just now as her husband works away so of course I went round to her house to give her a hug and have a coffee with her. I’m just back now and ready for a rest
Sounds like another lovely day uttb, but I guess it’s sad seeing your friend that way
Hope everyone has a good evening, take care all x

The teens have collected all their stuff and are on their way home curtesy of girlfriends gran.

We have The Imp, he has been fed, now playing on iPad for 10 minutes before his shower.

The noise is sparkling, cleaning fairies šŸ§šā€ā™€ļø have been here this morning, we had a successful trip to the farm shop, followed by a mooch round Smyth’s Toy Shop. DD got lots of stocking fillers, and I got a few also. Couldn’t resist The Gruffalo Granny book, which will be his bedtime story.

Hope you are feeling better Charleygirl šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø

Usedtobeblonde Thu 22-Oct-26 17:37:28

I hope things improve for your family Nannytopsy a worrying time for you all.
I am just back from celebrating my friends birthday, she is 89 today.
We went on the train to Buxton and went to a fish restaurant near where her D lives.
I had a splendid fish chowder with a warm crusty roll to mop up the sauce, it was delightful.
My friend did a lot of staring into space,,took ages over her meal which she didn’t finish and we went back to her D’s lovely new house where my friend fell fast asleep until we woke her up to come home.
I have been quietly worrying about her for ages but realise that her D sees what I see so it is up to her if she wants to act on anything. I feel a sense of relief that the responsibility is no longer mine.

I am full of food and a large glass of Sauvignon blanc and certainly won’t need anything else to eat today.

All in all a pleasant day.
I hope you all found similar today.

Redcar Thu 22-Oct-26 17:34:21

nannytopsy such a worrying time for you. I hope that both your DS and DSil recover quickly.

fgt a falls monitor would be a good idea for your stepfather, and maybe give you some peace of mind too.

Jaxjacky Thu 22-Oct-26 16:51:19

Not good news Nannytopsy and worrying for you, I wish them both well.
Concern for you too FGT good plan on the alert monitor.

Grandmabatty Thu 22-Oct-26 16:43:10

Nannytopsy what a worry! I hope both young men can be sorted out

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 22-Oct-26 16:20:30

Oh NannyTopsy I hope your family members are going to be okay with treatment. It must be such a worry right now.

I too am concerned today about my stepfather. He had another fall yesterday. I saw him today he’s fine, fortunately. Didn’t band his head. He said he turned away from the kitchen sink and just ā€˜sort of tipped forward’. Wasn’t dizzy but it spooked me. I asked him if he felt vulnerable/concerned should it happen again. He shrugged and said ā€œit’s no use worrying about itā€. Stoic, non panicky man.

I’m in the process of ringing the Trafford Adult Care Team now. I’d like them to assess him for a falls pendant/monitor.

I cannot ignore this gypsy’s warning.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Oct-26 16:07:22

Nannytopsy

What a week - DS (41) has just been admitted to hospital with heart failure and DSiL (39) is having cardioversion for atrial fibrillation tomorrow. Both fit young men. Meanwhile DD is 40 today.
We are the oldies and we are ok!

Oh dear sending you and your family (((hugs))) what a horrid time for you all.

Your poor DD I expect she does t feel like celebrating her big 40
