Popped in to see if we had a new ā€˜kitchen’ couldn’t find one so have opened this.

Hope all is well, will catch up next week šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø

I went out for Sunday lunch with my friend across the road.
It was a carvery at a pub which has several venues locally but is family owned.
It was very good, the meat was excellent and the veg was cooked nicely, only the roast potatoes let it down, I have never had decent roasties at a carvery, but it was good all round and Iwould go again.
My friend had a pudding but I just has a flat white.
She wanted to call at Sainsbury’s on the way home as her GGd is home from University for the weekend and she wanted to get her some provisions to take back with her tomorrow.
Although I have a weekly delivery I can always find something I need/ want/ fancy.
When I got home I changed into pyjamas and dressing gown and just hope nobody called.
I am now thinking what I can have to eat which is very light and non filling.
Nothing actually comes to mind.
I hope you have all had some decent weather today, sunny but chilly here, the CH is definitely needed now.

Such a beautiful quilt llfl you must be pleased, Milo looks happy too, well done šŸ‘
It’s been a gorgeous autumn day here, not warm but sunny with a clear blue sky. We’ve pottered around the garden and did done more tidying in the garage. Just about to get some veg prepped for dinner, it’s the same as last night chicken casserole
Enjoy the rest tomorrow grandmabatty
Hope your cough goes soon corner, it’s lingering a while
Hope everyone has a good evening, take care all x

cornergran Sun 18-Oct-26 16:18:29

Beautiful quilt ladylfl. I have absolutely no talent for these things. We do have a much prized lap quilt made from very decimal fabric my cousin made for Mr C when he was oh so cold post heart surgery also a crocheted lap quilt my Mum struggled through. The latter isn’t perfect but doesn’t need to be. Both will be with us forever.

Pleased you’re warm Charley and have had no vaccination after effects. My arm is still red, a week post covid jab. Delicate soul, that’s me šŸ˜‚

I’m still coughing fit to bust, well I am if I eat, breathe or bend down. Time it went now I think.

Hope you’re all having a decent Sunday.

Grandmabatty Sun 18-Oct-26 16:16:13

I think your quilt us absolutely stunning llfl. I neither have the skill nor the patience.
After a quick trip to Aldi this morning, I was very lazy. I did make egg and veg muffins for breakfasts for this coming week. I might wash floors before I make a chicken curry. Or I might not. Tomorrow I have a day off from childcare and I'm looking forward to a long lie. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk.

Lovely quilt šŸ‘

We have The Imp and DD here for dinner, so I must get a move on.

Banana bread is made and smells delicious.

Wishing you a peaceful Sunday šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø

Finished the enormous quilt at last! At some point I’ll embroider a label with my name and the year, but not yet. After Milo tried it out I folded it up and put it away.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 17-Oct-26 22:31:48

Here is the Japanese kimono fabric binding which I love.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 17-Oct-26 22:28:41

Hello kitchen people.

An interesting day. We spent the morning manning our stall at the U3A open morning event. We signed up a few people for the lunch group which OH looks after,

In the afternoon I worked on the enormous quilt. I attached the rest of the binding and will finish the corners tomorrow.

Sleep šŸ’¤ tight.

Thanks all. Amazingly I have been cosy. The kitchen is easier to heat and the heater there is good. For the sitting room I raked out an unused fan heater and that on with a rug on my knee, I was warmer than when the central heating is on.

It will be cold upstairs but an extra layer on my bed + my hwb and I will be fine. I will worry about the electricity bill when it comes. At least my shower is electric so you don't have to keep windows closed!

I know the gas engineer is flummoxed so that doesn't bode well. It is a combi boiler which I hate and it was fitted April 2021. Monday morning cant come soon enough. My main concern is the pipes in the loos up and downstairs.

No side effects from the Covid or flu jabs.

Look after yourselves.

ā€˜Evening All’

Not long home from the pub for one then the Lebanese restaurant with our younger daughter, son in law, the Boy Wonder and L’il Miss. I swear that boy must have hollow legs! (Don’t they all in Year 10? 🤣).

A very enjoyable evening they are such a loving family and very easy to be with. Our Boy Wonder is counting the days down to his school trip to Iceland next week.

I came in, put on my pjs and caught the last half hour of Strictly.

Charleygirl I’m hoping you’re as snug as a bug right now. šŸ¤ž

I’ve still got just the summer duvet in, haven’t needed any heating on yet as this little apartment is very well insulated as a (fairly) new build. I’ve succumbed to a cardigan now though sat in bed (one of Himself’s which comforts me) and I no longer leave the bedroom window open - but will once I swap to the heavier winter duvet.

Certain things make me sad, thinking about this time last year so I mustn’t dwell on them or I’d cry. In many ways here to February will be my toughest time. Just things like putting on the lamp in the hall trigger poignant memories. x

Redcar Sat 17-Oct-26 19:26:52

charleygirl keep that hot water bottle topped up with hot water! And snuggle under a blanket. Hope your flu jab doesn’t cause any reaction now.

Sunny but chilly here today, and we’ve had a few showers this afternoon. DD2 and the children called in this morning, her asthma nurse has changed her medication and it doesn’t seem to be helping control the asthma. She has a check up on Tuesday and I hope she’ll tell the nurse how much she’s been wheezing! She also thought she’d lost her phone, but luckily she found it at home! Worried mum was debating buying her another one! And worrying about her asthma too!

I continued clearing my bedroom in readiness for the decorator in a couple of weeks. Some things are now in the garage, the rest will either be in the small bedroom or in the back bedroom with me.

jax my electric blanket will be on later. Autumn has definitely arrived.

Sorry your cough is still troublesome cornergran I hope it doesn’t last much longer. Hopefully your squirrel won’t eat all your bulbs.

Enjoy the rest of the evening folks.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 17-Oct-26 19:01:29

Oh Charleygirl keep snuggling under a blanket x

Jaxjacky Sat 17-Oct-26 18:21:21

Hi all, sunny but chilly here today, what a buggeration Charleygirl, roll on Monday.
I washed a new jumper today and a few towels, jumper dried, towels finishing off indoors, electric blanket will be on tonight.
We’ve had a pub visit, quite busy for early on, a few chats, good to see people.
Our deep dive into freezer two means chicken kebabs for dinner, small potatoes and salady bits.
šŸ‘‹šŸ‘‹ quiet corner.

brook2704 Sat 17-Oct-26 17:12:58

Oh charley I hope you’re not too cold and the engineer can soon fix it on Monday, in the meantime I hope a hwb and blanket are helping
It’s been sunny but cold here, we went out this morning to do a bit of food shopping and spent far more than we should have. Therefore we resisted buying lunch out and just had coffee in the garden centre and then back home for a late lunch. The washing has been hanging out all day but I don’t think it’s dried much, I’ll have to get it in now and put it on the airer. I could have done that this morning šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
There’s a slow cooker chicken casserole on the go that’s almost ready, I just need to prep the veggies. Wine will be opened too and then settling down to watch Strictly
Hoping you’ve had a good day corner and your cough isn’t too troublesome
Enjoy your evening all x

cornergran Sat 17-Oct-26 08:29:31

That’s not good charley. Sounds like a blanket and hot water bottle day. šŸ¤ž something simple to sort.

It’s a bright, sunny if chilly start. As it should be I think. My cough is very much alive and noisily well. Having discovered I feel far better outside than indoors we’re off to meet some family for a couple of hours this afternoon. Old lady here will walk a bit then sit on a bench and watch our grandson demonstrate his latest scooter tricks. It will raise the heart rate for sure. Over all it’s seriously grumpy land here. Doesn’t coughing make you tired? I’m told to allow three weeks for it to pass. Lovely!

A relief you sorted a new tv jax, I’m impressed you were able to work it immediately. The last time we had a new tv it took shall we say a while before normal service was resumed.

Our saved from last year bulbs are planted, or should I say were planted. I suspect more have disappeared with a squirrel than remain in the pots. Some pots have a covering of chicken wire as a deterrent, I’m sure there’s some squirrel foot stamping when they can’t get in. I do enjoy squirrel antics, just wish they’d leave the bulbs alone.

Quiet one this morning. Get some laundry on, a light lunch then off along the motorway for half an hour, delays permitting, to meet the family. Wishing you all the best weekend it can be.

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Oct-26 07:41:53

Charleygirl that's rotten luck. I hope it can be fixed soon

Charleygirl5 Fri 16-Oct-26 23:03:43

It is much colder here and my heating and hot water packed up. The heating was serviced about a month ago. Luckily my shower is electric. A deli=berate decision in case this happened. Engineer coming on Monday but he is flummoxed.

It will be day 3 tomorrow and no reaction from my flu jab.

I have a spare hwb or hypothermia would set in.

Look after yourselves

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 16-Oct-26 22:33:00

Hello kitchen people,

My iPhone is being silly so sleep šŸ’¤ tight.

brook2704 Fri 16-Oct-26 22:11:18

Pleased you got your tv sorted Jax šŸ‘
Sounds like you’re doing really well grandmabatty
A very quiet house this evening, everything is back to normal. I went to the gym then coffee with a pal and walked into town by the river. A definite autumn chill to the air but still a lovely day. Wine will be opened and thoroughly enjoyed tomorrow evening
Hope everyone is doing ok and sleeps well, take care all x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 16-Oct-26 21:53:46

Thinking of Blossoming tonight. Hope things are smooth enough up there.

ā€˜Evening All’

It was lovely to see my stepfather today he told me he’d missed me. We sorted out several upcoming hospital appointments. At this rate I’ll need a spreadsheet ….

Went along to my neighbour’s at 6pm where we shared a bottle of wine and caught up on each other’s week. Home to eat and watch Traitors. Now about to watch another episode of ā€˜Fauda’ (means ā€˜chaos’ in Arabic) on Netflix - my latest binge watchable addiction!

Grandmabatty Fri 16-Oct-26 21:37:48

Redcar I need to buy compost and plant bulbs. A job for the weekend, as Monty Don might say!

Grandmabatty Fri 16-Oct-26 21:36:21

jaxjacky no tv would be a disaster here! I'm glad you got it resolved. Dd, dgs2 and I went for coffee this morning. I was well behaved and didnt have one with added stuff like maple latte or mocha. We had a nice blether then she took me home. I did more Spanish and ordered Christmas jumpers for the boys and clothes for dgs2 for his birthday. Later, a delivery arrived from Next- new jumpers for me and a new duvet cover. I washed everything in sight apart from the bedding which I will do tomorrow. Then cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom and hoovered. Dinner was chicken sausages with roasted vegetables and very nice it was too. Enjoy the rest of your evening kitchen folk

Jaxjacky Fri 16-Oct-26 21:14:17

Traitors over, for now, we nearly had a disaster, our TV packed up this morning, sound, no picture.
After troubleshooting, YouTube is great, no go, tried Curry’s online ā€˜pick up Monday’ Monday!! I think not, Argos came up with the goods, collected within an hour, phew.
Fortunately I’d turned it on to check on something I’d recorded, it’s our only TV in the house.
Anyway, normal service resumed, after early rain, the sun came out, Tesco delivered, two ducks now in the freezer, normal shopping put away. I keep forgetting MrJ plays bowls Friday, so no pub šŸ˜•
Thanks Redcar it’s the start of her European adventures.
I do hope poorly people are recovering, including any response to jabs, our flu next week.
Enjoy the rest of your evening all.

Redcar Fri 16-Oct-26 20:31:30

Some welcome rain this morning but a sunny cool afternoon. I raked more moss from the lawn, hoping to encourage the grass to grow again. The grass seedlings are growing well, so while it was raining I planted more seed, watched with interest by dozens of birds perched on the television aerial! Sadly for them I covered the seed with topsoil and chicken wire, fingers crossed the seeds will germinate before it gets too cold.

charleygirl I hope your new hot water bottle keeps you warm and not wet! I haven’t yet switched the electric blanket on, I may do so later, but the house feels fairly warm so far, so may not bother.

jaxjacky I hope Imogen has a good time in Munich.

Enjoy the rest of the evening folks.
