Good morning from bright east coast. I think it’s going to be a dry day today.

I managed to post on the wrong day yesterday sometimes I’m such a numpty🤦

We had a lovely meal out at an Indian last night with our best friends and went back to theirs. DH will be a bit delicate today though I think after he and our friend got on the jagermeisters. I was driving which I was pleased about because he’d have never managed to walk home. They both got engrossed in their phones though so I said to DH come on we are going and we made a swift exit. Why do people do this it’s so annoying.

We have DGS coming today he’s excited to see us after his holiday and his mother said he was asking for us a lot. I’ll do a roast chicken and I’m going to make his favourite cake. He tans really easily due to his heritage and looks really handsome on his photos.

I am hoping it doesn’t rain today as I am relaying the wire for my mower. It has decided to be temperamental in its old age. I am hoping my back will allow it.

After a busy day yesterday we’re planning a quiet day with nothing definite to do so I can potter in the garden and do a bit of housework. DS is away this weekend so we’re not having our usual Sunday call but he did send me some photos yesterday

Good morning everybody from Málaga. It’s another beautiful day here. Later this morning I shall pack a cabin bag for my week in Ibiza. My flight (just over a one hour hop from here) leaves at 7:30pm so I hope to be checking in at the hotel soon after 10pm.

We are meeting one of my friends (the one who many years ago used to be a professional dancer at the London Palladium, appearing with the likes of Morecambe & Wise, Lionel Blair etc when a young Bruce Forsyth was compère!.

Our Yorkshire Lass is very much looking forward to having coffee together, hoping to be regaled with tales from that time in her life.

She is 82 now and flew out last night from Leeds/Bradord airport to spend a month out here in her little place in this block. I’m so pleased I’m getting the chance to see her again today! The last time was back in May, my first trip out here after being widowed and I was so very grateful to have her company most days.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a now rainy Carlisle.
It wasn't when I got up, it waited until I'd gone out for my walk, fortunately with a light mac on. I walked round the park and wasn't pleased to see young lads fishing. It's not allowed and they have killed swans by leaving tackle about. No one seems to do anything about it.
Yesterday, I went to Sainsbury's to top up and get items Tesco doesn't supply. There was no long phone chat with my sister, she rang me the afternoon before. Therefore, as it was a lovely sunny day, I went out in the garden to plant some of my purchases from a few days ago.
After lunch, I gave my halo a good polishing...also known as washing the car, a rare activity on my part. I found that you can look at the car from your window and think it's really clean but when you get up close with your sponge, there's a definite patina of dirt! It did cause woe and grief to my spider reserve though.

The rest of today will be gentle. I'm going to read my book of short stories and indulge in a bit of online retail therapy. Then, in theory, I have a new recipe to try out for dinner. I suspect it involves quite a bit of fiddling about and I don't really care for spending unnecessary time in the kitchen when I can be doing more interesting things. I have a project at the moment of taking out a different cookbook each week and trying out a new recipe as I've got into a bit of a rut with dinners.

Good morning. After a restless night I am all behind this morning. I’ll come back later to read your news.
Sunny here at the moment but a fair bit of rain overnight.
We shall make a quick visit to the local nursery for some compost. Ewe didn’t have quite enough to plant new plants yesterday, maybe a coffee there.
Friends have asked if we would like to join them at after this afternoon , we’ll see how the weather behaves.
Hope our poorly GNs find some relief and wish all a good day.

Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk where sun is forecast. Another late start for us which feels like a preparation for darker autumnal days.

We intend to go to the beach for a dog walk where we can have coffee and cake before heading home. This cafe,well known for its fish and chips is open all day until the end of this month and then only at weekends when it remains very busy.

We have scaffolders coming on Tuesday so the top floor window can be painted and also the barge boards. They may need some repairs as our builder thinks some parts may be rotten….so more expense and early starts but glad we have work being done that we can trust.

Hope today is a good one for all.

A quiet day here today. I must revive some of the plants I have somewhat ignored in the last 2 weeks and empty the pots of tbose beyond help.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, another lovely day.
Taking it slowly this morning after yesterday's early start. I was on the bus by 9 am and had a really good day trawling the shops.
My main reason for going was to spend an M&S voucher due to expire shortly. I certainly did that, buying 3 bras which were badly needed; I actually took 6 into the fitting room! Now to get rid of some ill fitting ones.

I also needed some new make-up and headed to the Chanel counter in John Lewis where I had a very nice make-over by a lovely lady who had plenty of time for me; I bought some foundation and she also sent me home with free samples in the bag.

Then it was an Italian lunch with wine 🍷🍷!

Shortly will be having a bacon butty, then I am out to the cinema this afternoon. Will be meeting a friend to see a screening of La Traviata from Sydney Harbour with the lovely backdrop of the Opera House behind. Plus a lovely glass of 🍷(again!).

Still trying to do my mile (at least) a day - did 2 miles around the shops yesterday, and hoping to achieve the same today on my cinema visit.

Good morning and we’re in for another warm one. Yesterday was a perfect autumn day and when I walked the dog, people were cheery and loving the cooler air. Unlike a few weeks ago, dragging ourselves round in that dreaded heat.

I too mowed the ‘lawn’ yesterday. Little clumps of thick grass and little wispy bits . It does look tidier.
Also changed the beds - a job that is becoming harder with duvet covers. Dh can’t help me now and it’s hard work on my own. Just as I was struggling, ds1 came in. Hoorah he took over and it was done in a trice. I’ve thought about coverless but I don’t think they’d fit in my machine. I’m certainly not going to a launderette.

Pot roast chicken in the slow cooker and an apple crumble for dessert. Proper autumn Fayre.

Dh seems to be on the mend 🙏🤞.

Liberty have a lovely walk along the beach and enjoy the coffee and cake at my favourite fish and chip cafe.

Madeleine such lovely thoughts and blessings for those lost souls in Aberfan. I can remember reading it in the Evening Standard on the train home from work. I was just 16 and I was so sad.

I hope GB and Marydoll feel a little better today 🙏.
And of course all other grans who are under par.

The Aberfan disaster was on 21 October, not in September.
My thoughts this week are of the terrible events of 11 September, 25 years ago.

Good morning from a blustery East Lothian. It’s lovely to be in Scotland again but I hope we will have some ‘gentle’ autumn weather at some stage.

We went on a local art trail yesterday and saw some beautiful work - pottery, glass, paintings, jewellery and some intriguing paper art. I am sorry we didn’t get over to your part of the world Grammaretto.

Today we are going to North Lanarkshire, near Glasgow, where we will lend a hand with clearing son-in-law’s late uncle’s house. Last time we collected up bags of DVDs and model buses to sort at DD2’s home. DD is trying to sell some of the models on eBay, though most aren’t worth a lot as they have been out of their boxes and displayed on every available shelf and window ledge. Uncle had a great deal of pleasure from his collection - what’s the point of keeping everything in boxes?
I don’t know what today’s tasks will be but they are planning to saw a sofa in half to take to the local waste disposal/recycling centre. They hope to avoid needing a skip as they can’t stay there to keep an eye on it.

I hope your pain eases Grandmabatty, and similarly Madeleine - your words on Aberfan are very moving. It’s so important to remember these tragedies and those still living with their loss. Marydoll, I hope you are having a better day and not overdoing it with church duties.

I’d better get ready for our drive west and hope the Edinburgh bypass is not too busy.

My thoughts too mawsrosie, thanks for pointing it out. Our world has changed so much and hasn’t felt truly safe since that awful day…

gingster just popped in to say that my washing machine is just common or garden standard and it copes with a double coverless downie. I think they're the best thing since sliced bread!

I'm hardly ever awake early, but love lurking here...your cheeriness and warmth are lovely to wake up to xx
