Good morning from an overcast NE with a forecast of rain all day.
Sister visited yesterday, arrived in a taxi carrying cakes for us to share.
We chatted and played Scrabble, I won by 3 points.
Today my younger sister and BIL are visiting and taking me shopping.
I will be interested to hear about their garden which is being landscaped, this is the third week since commencement.
I have my sister's car staying with me so as not to hamper the gardeners.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s just starting to drizzle. “That fine stuff that wets you” as Peter Kay said.

We had a gorgeous sunny and warm day here yesterday. I walked to the reflexology appointment (45 mins) and had to remove my jacket it was so hot! Nice.

Today I have my yoga class mid morning, (I never feel like going), will join my daughter to watch L’il Miss swim after school and then it’s book club this evening in the pub round the corner to talk about ‘Yesteryear’.

Good morning everyone from another bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton day. A fine day forecast, but am still confined to quarters; just haven't got the energy to do anything with this rotten cough and cold - I even don't feel like reading! Just sitting and watching tv is all I feel like doing, but it goes against the grain to switch it on in the daytime. I gave in and put it on at 4pm yesterday.

My cough has developed into that annoying thing where I will be absolutely fine one minute then next thing I have a tickle in my throat which develops into a full blown coughing fit which almost makes me sick. I even went through 111 yesterday and got referred to a pharmacist who just advised me to take a cough syrup. The last time I had this sort of cough which went on for three weeks I ended up at the doctors with a prescription for anti-biotics as an upper respiratory infection was diagnosed - cough was gone within a few days! I have just added more cough syrup and cough lozenges to my Sainsbury's order tomorrow.

At least my eye is improving daily - I had some blurriness the first few days and I thought oh my goodness they've put the wrong lens in, but now everything is sharper and coming into focus. The clinic said that the brain takes time to adapt to the new lens. I will still need glasses for reading but my distance vision is just wonderful; don't need glasses for tv any more!

Will just let today unfold; I need to get in touch with DS and/or his partner as I have a job that needs doing at home involving heavy lifting which I am not allowed to do for another coup!e of weeks and it's not something that can be put off.

Must move as it's time to put more eye drops in. Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning from Wiltshire. Our solar lights started to come on before 7pm yesterday. After such a lovely day on Monday, it was a very gloomy day again.

I’m feeling very washed out after Covid but generally a lot better. DH has a cough but has tested negative. Both GD3 and GS2 have coughs too. We have them overnight on Friday as their parents are going to a wedding in Carlisle.

So very sorry, Karma to hear about your tooth problem. An absolutely dreadful pain to have. Can you get it seen to privately or get stronger painkillers or antibiotics? It’s 2026 - you shouldn’t have to put up with severe pain.

FGTs condolences to your family on the loss of your sister’s DH. Both of you in the same year.

Susan well done to your DGD on becoming school house captain. Good luck with your dental appointment.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 9°C and cloudy.
My new meds are causing me angst. I was up at the loo six times. I will need to rethink, when I take them, but they contraindicate with other meds.

So many dental problems here. My own mouth still hasn't healed properly after my procedure four weeks ago. Are we all suffering, due to old age?

Yesterday, I stayed in bed until lunchtime, then I got up to answer the landline. It was my friend, the Ebay Queen.
Do you want to come next door with P. And I to visit C, because she has kidney cancer?
I was speechless,
C, next door, is DIL's mother and we knew nothing about it. 😔

Apparently, she was prayed for at her church and half the town know, thanks to the local gossip.
I was stunned, to say the least.
I am constantly messaging DIL and last spoke to her in person on Saturday and she said nothing.

I am so hurt, due to the fact, that we found out, thanks to the local gossip (a former colleague and dangerous busybody) informing the Ebay Queen.
The Ebay Queen was frantic, begging me not to say anything to my prickly son, in case there was a fall out.

We have done so much for DIL, when her own parents have treated her so badly, yet she couldn't tell us.
When she was in hospital in ICU, we visited every day, despite me being unwell and it was me, not her mother,who went for prescriptions, did housework etc.
It led me to think that we mean very little to her, despite treating her like our own daughter.😪

I did not visit, partly because I felt so unwell, but also because I would have felt like a hypocrite.
The Ebay Queen phoned later, to apologise for upsetting me and begging me not to say it was she, who told me, in case a family feud ensued.
Her husband and FIL are drinking buddies and she said it would affect all the neighbours, if we fell out!!!!!!
I explained that I had no intention of speaking to DS and DIL about it, and neither had any intention of involving the neighbours by falling out with the inlaws.
She should know better, I wouldn't do that.

DH will continue cutting their grass (FIL has left DH to do it all sumner, waving from the window despite DH being ill and we will continue to be polite and dignified, as we always are.

Those of you, who know me, may remember DIL's first day back at work after maternity leave. The inlaws were supposed to look after Dollie, because I was going into hospital for surgery and DS was meant to be in London for work.
Two days before my surgery, MIL passed me in her car, opened the window and said: I will see you,when I get back from Dubhai. I had no idea, what she was talking about.😱

She had left us in the lurch! I thought, I was going to have cancel my op, because DIL was so anxious about missing her first day back.
My dying BIL and my SIL looked after Dollie, until my son could take over.
I have never forgotten, nor forgiven that. DH is different, he thinks I need to move on.

This morning, I am going to get my hair cut. It had to be rescheduled, I wasn't well enough to go last week.

P.S it transpires that MIL is having tests for suspected kidney cancer. There is no diagnosis yet.
That is the danger of gossipmongers.

Good morning all.
What a beautiful day yesterday. Very warm but I can cope with autumn heat.

I had Bridge club, where three people had brought cakes, so we all took some home. Dh was delighted.
My partner and I came top which was a good outcome.

Today is market day so a wander round, maybe buy some more bulbs and pansies if they have them, meet friend for coffee and shop in M and S for tasty treats. We have all/some of the family coming at the weekend, so a buffet is the order of the day. I’ll also get a delivery .,

Poor you Karma . My Dd and Dh recently had bad toothache and were prescribed antibiotics which cleared it up in no time.
Dd did take herself to A and E but they told her they don’t deal with dental problems anymore.
Try to get a prescription.

My poor friend is still in France after breaking her hip 3 weeks ago. .falling off her bike. . She is amazing and determined to fully recover. Her Dh took a video of her swimming in the pool, with a float between her knees. All clear to come home next week.

An engineer from Octopus came as planned to update our meters, he was done in twenty minutes.
Today I must defrost a couple of items for lunch tomorrow, my brother and his wife are visiting.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. I was awake for a couple of hours during the night, I lay listening to the rain coming down in biblical proportions. I’ll need wellies for my dog walk this morning.

I’m so sorry for you Karma, you shouldn’t be left to suffer for weeks. If that level of pain was happening anywhere else in your body it would be dealt with.

Another day of being gentle with myself as I’m quite emotional just now. I didn’t go to the charity shop yesterday and feel rather guilty even although they weren’t expecting me.

It was so warm yesterday, and we ate our evening meal outside.

I popped to Merry Hill shopping centre to have a refund on a gift from Next. They give a gift card rather than the cash. Didn't see anything I wanted to buy though.

Over to Mums today, as her younger sister and niece are coming over and we are meeting for lunch. Will be good to meet up as it's been a while.

We watched the first episode of 70 Up on catch up last night. I am a similar age, and it does indeed give food for thought how quickly life goes.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and wet. Karma I hope your dentist visit offers some relief. Madeleine and Susan I hope today is better for you.
Yesterday I had a good day. The boys were in good spirits with no drama. I pottered about the house after I dropped them off at school, still looking for the drafted wreath hangers. Then I headed to town for an opticians appointment. This lady seemed much more thorough than the previous one. After she had put anaesthetic in my eye and poked about a bit, she said everything was fine(as I thought it would be). I then headed to the school to wait for the boys. Yesterday was very warm and it was pleasant sitting in the sunshine. Once home again, the boys played happily and ate slightly less than usual. At night, i had a nap then got up to watch tv. Surprisingly I slept ok later.
Today is a day in the house. I need to tidy the kitchen and begin to sort out the hall cupboard. I have yet more ironing to do too. Later on I have to go to the health centre to have bloods taken. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone from the central south coast. A lovely day is forecast and it is going to be warm, apparently. The sky was streaked with pink jet trails earlier and looked like a painting. Beautiful!

Our busy day worked out well, yesterday. The plumber turned up, as promised, at 8am and diagnosed our shower as terminal. It can't be repaired, may blow up if we use it now and the model (which he fitted 7 years ago) is obsolete. So, he told DH which one to order and it is due to arrive this morning. We then are to tell him that we have it and he will come and fit it. So, no shower today for either of us.

At 10am the fourth surveyor arrived for the stair lift and we went through the process for the fourth time. He unfortunately had "hayfever" (seemed more like a cold to me) and was pretty thorough including measuring me for the chair. His quote was the second highest of the four and we already were pretty sure of the one we were likely to go for. His quote clinched it and we went ahead with the order later on, with the first one surveyed. It is to be installed on 1 October..

Today our eldest grandchild is 25 and well into her teaching year 3 at the village school. I always suspected she would end up teaching as she has been a leader all her life! Lovely with it though, and she is very happy in her role. Her Mum, DD is off to another medical academic conference in Zagreb, today.

DH is out with his cycling club today so I will have a slower paced catch up day.

Good Morning from a grey, overcast Durham. Another disturbed night, as it was so warm, I was up and down opening windows, trying to get comfortable.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee at 10am, then Sin.L2 is going to bring his ‘old’ car here, as his new one is available before the old is due to go back and their space is limited. I’ve parking for 8 cars, so it can be here as long as needed. He’ll bring mountains of DD2 and DGS2s laundry, then I’ll run him home. Only problem is we have no idea of time - as he has to get the new car first.
I’ve violas to go in my window boxes, so I can get on with those and other garden jobs while I wait.
Hoping Marydoll has better days soon.

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. After my friend had visited yesterday morning we decided as it was so sunny to go to our favourite garden, we went into the garage to open the door only to find it wouldn’t open as a huge spring had broken. We now have the car trapped in the garage and no way of opening the door. DH has contacted a firm who have been before so we shall see. Consequently I shall walk to my nearby friend today but it looks like the rest of the week is cancelled.

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where it looks like as lovely a day as yesterday. I too have just booked a Waitrose C delivery slot. I just put an expensive bottle of champagne on the order to meet the minimum spend with a note to myself to cancel it when I do a proper order much nearer the time.

We also watched 70up last evening and thought,in spite of their different backgrounds and life experiences,there was a gentleness and empathy for others shown in the interviews.

I have my keep fit class this morning and then I think an afternoon in the summer house with doors and windows open will be on the cards.

Hope those who are unwell have a reasonable day and Karma gets some relief from the raging toothache.

Karma I had the same last month. It's awful. Let's hope you're offered decent pain relief or a miracle solution sooner than in three weeks' time.

Good morning from an overcast but warm Cornwall. I got home 12 hours after I left for the hospital scan yesterday (scan was clear, as I thought it would be, but I appreciate my diligent doctor) because I stopped at a little village on my train journey home and explored its quaint streets and shops. The station is unmanned and later I sat on the platform in complete silence - not a car nor a person nor a bird - for an hour, relishing the peace, while occasional nine-carriage GWR trains roared past. It was surreal and beautiful. I realised the extent to which gulls are wallpaper to my life as they are normally everywhere I go. Not a gull in sight or sound yesterday.

I caught a train eventually and then had a long-winded rural bus journey before I arrived home. A lovely, pleasing jaunt.

At home I received a message from Ashcombe to tell me about the unexploded bomb in our harbour, the news of which had somehow completely bypassed me. Thanks Ash! I live outside the evacuation zone but a friend was preparing a suitcase last night in case she has to leave at 9am today. A large church is being deployed as a temporary refuge. I think the experts are deciding whether to explode it in situ or transport it elsewhere.

Apparently, on arriving home my 10-year-old granddaughter said: 'There's a bomb near Nana and people are being evacuated. Can Nana come and stay and I'll sleep in my top bunk and she can have the bottom one?' Bless her. ❤️

Karma, when I was in a similar position to you and needed a teeth extracted at the hospital (I was on alendronic acid so my dentist couldn’t deal with it) I bit the bullet and paid. Otherwise it was an 18 month wait.

I will complete the Christmas cake today. The fruit is currently soaking in rum.

I made a batch of Hugh FW vanilla ice cream yesterday. It is delicious.

I have booked the Steak Night at one of our favourite restaurants tonight. We haven’t been for a while.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Yesterday was warm and sunny in the afternoon. Although there were some clouds about we didn’t have any rain. A slim chance of a shower today.

I made it into town yesterday morning and dropped some books into the charity bookshop, then did a little shopping and came home. My dementia friend was very sleepy and quiet all afternoon.

I had a night of odd dreams last night, one of which was a visit to the dentist for a crown preparation! The dentist was one of the dancers from Strictly! I don’t know where that came from as I don’t generally worry about the dentist!

karma I hope you can get some relief from your pain soon. Toothache is horrible.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very rainy Carlisle. No gardening today!
Yesterday featured a bit of routine cleaning then it was off to one of the surgeries for the nurse to examine my itchy, sore ears. They looked normal, no inflammation or infection so good, that's what I wanted to know. I've to continue with putting drops in, she recommended olive oil...I've been using fancy plant oil ones. I am wondering what brought this on if there's no infection as the hearing aids are about 2 years old.
btw...she told me how young I looked for my age. I told her it was the wretched steroids I take...they fill out your wrinkles and lines. I'd rather look wrinkly!

Today, as I can't be outside, I'll have to knuckle down to some jobs but I won't make a martyr of myself, I've an interesting pile of reading including a useful book on my polymyalgia condition written by a doctor who's had it herself and recovered.

I'm really feeling for you karma, I hope your painkillers are damping down the pain somewhat and that the dentist can help tomorrow.

Today my car has to go back to the Ford dealer for some kind of update to its system. This was attempted in August but was unsuccessful so they’re trying again today. An unfamiliar early start is necessary!

Good morning from south Glos, cloudy skies here but no rain forecast.
I enjoyed the trip to the garden centre yesterday, my friend and I both came home with trays of violas. It was a lovely day and a nice drive across the Cotswolds.
Today I have to get some compost from a nearby garden centre while on my way to the hairdressers and I need to get petrol too so that will be a 8 mile drive to the closest garage. Luckily I do very little driving in comparison to many on here.
I hope you can get your toothache sorted quickly Karma, that’s a ridiculously long wait when you’re in so much pain.

Good morning all from a grey North Leicestershire. We are forecast rain later.

It has been bedlam here. We are having the granite wall between us and our next door neighbours whilst the neighbour on the other side is having her drive altered. We have to take the car and park it round the corner in case we want to use it. And we did! We had to take the cat to the vet and have to go back today.
