Madeleine, I felt quite sad for you, when I read your post. Going for hospital appointments alone, when you are unwell is no mean feat,

Yesterday, I went down to manage the car parking at church, it was actually delightful. Not the torrential rain part, but the fact that so many people called out, waved or engaged with me. ♥️
My sister in law, who has fallen out big time, with her own Parish Priest, appeared; she is trying out all the parishes in the Diocese.🤣
She calls herself, a roaming Catholic, which I find amusing. She had a difficult relationship with a number of P.Ps, when she was teaching, so her options are few.😉
There were no obvious spaces left, but I managed to squeeze her in.
She didn't ask how DH was, just asked, if I knew a mutual friend was dying in hospital, then walked away. 😱
Just as I was walking through the cat park, I was almost run over by a lady in a red car.
For the last three Sundays, she has arrived very late, removed the cones from the entrance to the car park and parked across the wheelchair access ramp.😱
She then sits in the porch, never goes in to church. I happened to walk past her in the porch and she glared at me, daring me to say something about her selfishness.
I stared back, put on my inscrutable, teacher face and said nothing. I find that is more effective.
The head sacristan had opened up the church, but felt unwell and unable to serve Mass, therefore I had to step up.
I did not stay and go to the next Mass, as I usually do. Thankfully, the young sacristan was there.
I went home and sat in the conservatory for hours, doing absolutely nothing.
However, the rain was torrential for hours, I thought the roof was going to come in. The noise of the rain was horrendous.
Once again, my good intention to catch up on housework etc came to nothing.
Dinner was a disaster into the bargain, 😔
Today, for the first time in living memory, we have no Mass in our parish this morning because we have no priest.
However, I will need to go and let the money counters in to the safe and go for my prescriptions, braving the massive traffic jam in the main street. A hole in the road, has meant four way temporary traffic lights.😔
