I see the (odious) Mr Brand has his court case started.

I never had much time for him but to be a sexual predator is most unpleasant.

Joanofarc99 Wed 14-Oct-26 18:48:23

Eh? Ive no time for him either but innocent until proven guilty and all evidence heard. You are judging him just because you don't like him

Kandinsky Wed 14-Oct-26 18:49:28

I used to like him.
I thought he was very good looking and he was funny.
He hasn’t been found guilty yet so let’s not hang the man just yet. ( metaphorically speaking )

Whitewavemark2 Wed 14-Oct-26 18:50:27

He was always naff.

Kandinsky Wed 14-Oct-26 18:55:21

Do people still say ‘naff’?
Haven’t heard that word for about 30 years.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 14-Oct-26 18:57:06

Good word though describes him exactly.

As I have mentioned on GN before I was in Waitrose in Henley on Thames when RB came with a friend and a large Alsatian. He mucked about just laughing and giggling with his friend but bought nothing.
I found one of the Waitrose staff in a suit so I thought he would have some clout.
I said that RB should not in a store with his Alsatian. The staff member said he didn’t know who RB was and it was likely the dog was an Assistance Dog !
NOTHING WAS DONE. 👎

I always thought he looked dirty and unkempt akways disliked his arrogant attitude. Seedy sums him up.

Calendargirl Wed 14-Oct-26 20:51:29

Wasn’t he the one who was nasty to Andrew Sachs granddaughter, along with Jonathan Ross?

Never rated either of them since,

Yes! It wasn’t funny or nice and I was very cross with Mr Ross!

To be fair, I didn’t say he was guilty!

Me neither .

No one is concluding RB is guilty, that’s for the court to decide.

What people are saying is in summary, he always seemed unsavoury. His obsession with smut and sex wasn’t hidden, like other perpetrators, he hid in plain site

My understanding is these women didn’t know each other and came forward independently with similar complaints of abusive behaviour. We all know how few sexual abuse/rape investigations are sent to the CPS and even fewer seen as over 80% or more likely to result in conviction, so the alleged perpetrator charged.

But the description still fits him.

Gosh, but the pic of him on the Guardian website makes him look very aged these days. And did he really turn up for a court appearance looking that scruffy?

Not much respect for the court, obviously. I hope the judge takes a dim view of Mr B's apparent contempt.

Esmay Thu 15-Oct-26 07:49:23

I have absolutely no respect for Russell Brand since he and Jonathan Ross played a thoroughly disgusting joke on Andrew Sachs .

Galaxy Thu 15-Oct-26 08:02:11

I am not commenting on guilt or innocence . But Brands behaviour was in plain sight and often cheered on.

Sarnia Thu 15-Oct-26 09:28:50

I can't abide Russell Brand or Jonathan Ross come to that. They made prank calls to Andrew Sach's about his granddaughter.
Like a pair of overgrown schoolboys.

Exactly this. He was lauded as an entertainer but his arrogance and entitlement shone through every time. The sleaze just oozed through the TV screen every time he appeared. I'm not accusing him of anything, just going by what I've seen with my own eyes. To me he came across as obnoxious and therefore none of these accusations surprise me.

Huw Edwards turned up in court in a well made suit, shirt and tie but he was still a paedophile
Maybe by dressing 'correctly' he escaped prison 🤔

Purplepixie Thu 15-Oct-26 10:37:30

Never liked him. He’s got dead eyes.

Boomer1947 Thu 15-Oct-26 10:45:51

Apparently he had a father who took him to brothels when he was a teenager. That is very damaging to an impressionable young man. I agree with those who point out innocent until proven guilty. The lynch mob is in full swing with this one.
His wife of 10 years speaks well of him and says he is a very good dad. He goes to Church and reads the bible. What more do you want him to do to atone for past "sins".

Galaxy Thu 15-Oct-26 11:02:31

Well if he is found guilty I wont be hoping for a sentence of reading the bible.

Going to church and reading the Bible? Some of the worst people I know are the most religious. They wear their religion like a cloak of protection. My cousin for starters. She is always offering to pray for people, and, yet, when the chips are down, she goes silent!
