Good morning from a peaceful corner of La Sarthe following a windy night.

Yesterday, we had a successful trip to Lidl where, as before, I could make use of the loyalty app on my phone to take advantage of the latest deals. DH hasn’t got round to joining Lidl Plus on his phone (and probably never will!)

Perry, the cat, woke us early with his pawing at the window so we’ve been awake a while. He’s had breakfast and gone out again so we’re enjoying TIB before trying to go back to sleep.

Stay safe and dry, everyone! 🦩💐🐈🥰🦩

Good morning from a dark N Surrey. No idea what it is like out there bug I did hear rain in the night.

Too dark to open the kitchen door while making a large mug of tea. It feels a touch chilly, but the heating doesn't come on till 6.30 and I am warm enough back under the brushed cotton duvet cover.
Lovely sunshine yesterday. I had an unexpected walk when the bus I had to catch suddenly stopped and we all had to get off and he drove off without an explanation. The next bus was due in half an hour so I walked to the bus station about a mile and a half away. It actually was very pleasant. Wouldn't have been the day before in heavy rain.
Today another bus trip to drop some signed documents off at the solicitor's. I could post them, but they are in a pleasant town and I can guarantee they arrive.
Another Friday. Goodness the weeks are flying.
A good day to all. Keep safe if it's windy where you are.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is piddling down with rain at the moment. Yesterday, despite all the forecasts we had a day of bright sunshine and a lovely walk in the woods. My iPad is doing strange things today - it doesn’t want to print numbers in sequence! I think it’s getting old like me, but this is since the last update so I’ve no idea what’s going on. Fortunately I don’t have my banking app on it!

I spent yesterday evening catching up with Young Musician of the Year. What wonderful talented people they are!

No idea what’s on the cards today apart from a short session at school this afternoon.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning. The night was wet, and we are promised more today - but the wind is going to be the problem tonight and tomorrow night.
My life seems to have been so busy recently; yesterday was no different.
After a good workout in the tai chi class - came home with about 20 teatowels to wash.
After a quick lunch, I joined three other residents to check the work on “phase 2” of the painting has been done, before the scaffolding is removed. Phase 1 has been done and most of the scaffolding is off now. A promised 3 month jobs has turned into 7 months of mostly shoddy work, ignoring the blatantly obvious need to repair/replace things. It has been disgraceful.
I then had a quick cuppa before taking the bus to DD’s for dinner with them. The girls were in good form. DGD1 now in VIth form has an incredibly full social life as well as a babysitting job, and a weekend job in a chocolate shop!
Iris, on the other hand, has less socialising but many hobbies, not least her little cake making business, where people (mostly family and friends) commission cakes.
Today is officially empty, but I have plenty to fill it with, not least making marmalade as I am completely out of stock. I also going to order a new ceramic hob as mine is cracked and probably dangerous.
I hope your days are full of contentment. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a rainy and blowy Herefordshire.

I'm feeling revitalised after yesterday's yoga class so I'm going to have a wander around town today, even if it is raining. I will visit the library and have a quiet coffee and cake.

Happy Friday all.

Greyduster. Thank you for the reminder. I must catch up on the young musicians. That will be my tucked up in bed treat tonight.

Good morning from s somerset, cooler today and lovely heavy rain at last

I did use up 3 scraps of fabric yesterday, hence the sweatshirt in 3 colours, that one is called toaster and I have made it several times over the years. I think my sewing mojo is fading, it always happens during early hibernation time when knitting takes over but I will make myself go and do something in the sewing room before bed, my worst time for an accidental doze

Another lovely soup/casserole base made yesterday afternoon, it happens to be all plant-based so will keep for a few days in the fridge. A few ladles with additions added and I have the easiest meal

It is far too horrible out for a walk today but I have my stairs and my rebounder and am not giving up sewing yet. I think I will re-make my bed with my electric blanket added, I want to be cosy in bed as soon as I get in

I had an accidental 2 hour nap yesterday, don`t want to be doing that again so will vary my evening to keep sleep for bed

Good morning Michael and all GN's on another very cold and dark morning in North Yorkshire. Been awake for hours, and the brain has been flitting between so many different things, quite glad to get up and try and make a bit of order of things.

There is that saying " Take what you want - and pay for it!"
Well that was definitely true of yesterday for me. I had started off in a reasonably calm mood and was creaking about. I had brought my calendar up to date, and had my MOT date was going to clash with being away, and so wanted to check dates and then go and speak to the garage, and organise when it would work and make sure that I wasnt without the MOT, but not sure how far in advance you could have it done without wasting some of it. So I had written out a few things I needed to get, collected some more little glass jars to give to the craft lady at Upfront to use for more ghosts for halloween, and then they can be something for the christmas trees too. Waste not want not! So slow of course, always irritating when my body cannot keep up to the pace my brain sets, but fine. Then I thought I must speak to my son, as I was having difficulty in getting what I wanted for my grandson etc.

However when I spoke to him, I felt in rather a panic, as he said he was waiting to hear from the hospital, that his ear was worse, he had had two lots of antibiotics and now they were concerned that a) he might have sepsis b) that he may need an operation c) that he had cellulitis in the ear - which I had never heard of. That was totally not what I had expected to hear and I felt very stressed out and worried for him, whilst trying to sound optimistic. Consequently when I left to do various things that I needed to get sorted, I didnt even remember to pick up the shopping list, and was in something of a daze, always made worse by the fact that you know that you cant do anything to help matters. I later had a text to say that he had spoken to the hospital, was going straight in and they would decide what needed doing. So he was in yesterday, and so far I havent heard from him, just keeping my fingers crossed that all went well.

I needed bread and a variety of things, but whatever I was doing seemed to take twice as long. The queues were longer, they hadnt got what I really wanted etc etc, and then I went down to the garage, where I was quite pleased to be able to sit in their office for a few minutes and talk through how the MOT was going to work out with me away. My back was so bad, and I was grateful for a seat. Knowing I might need to go across to my son, I asked them if they would check my tyres pressure, as I liked to be sure they are fine before a long journey, but with my back as it is right now, didnt want to do it myself. They very kindly obliged, so that was that.

The day was sunny and quite windy, and I wished I had the time to go out into the country and take some coffee and calm down but no. Never saw the cleaners, but they had sorted my bed out thank goodness and what they do looked a lot better, but I am surrounded by various lots of paperwork, that only I can deal with and struggling with that.

I got an email from the garden centre reminding me that yesterday was their christmas sort of opening day, between 4 and 8, where you can go and get a free mince pie and some mulled wine and see and sample all their christmas fayre etc etc. I am not usually bothered with such things, but felt it would be good to get out and calm down , even if I had very little intention of buying anything. A friend I have made from the exercise class on fridays, uses a rollator and doesnt drive much in the afternoon/evening, and so I whipped round and asked her if she would like to come.Just put a coat on and I would put the rollator in the car. So she came with me. When we got there it was quite busy, but not overcrowded, and we went by my rules , which were to do our own thing and meet in about half an hour at the cafe for coffee. We both went firstly for the mince pie and mulled wine, which were quite good. Then she was looking for presents for great grandchildren, and I went to check out the bulbs for some paperwhites. ~They never have enough of these as I dont think they bulk up quickly and there was an offer of 5 bulbs for £5, but as I have a loyalty card there was an extra 10% off. As they havent been in long, there were plenty to choose from and I carefully looked through them for good quality bulbs and also found 3 with new bulbils growing on the sides of the bulbs which will give me more in the next few years. Hardly anyone was looking round the bulbs ,so had my pick and was very pleased with my purchase at £4.50. Now need to work out when to plant them to be sure of enjoying them when they flower.

Took my friend home and came home myself and sprawled on the bed to straighten my back out. By this time I had had enough, so just had some chowder and a yoghurt and went to bed and watched downton abbey, occasionally looking at my phone in the hopes of a message from my son.My goodness I felt shattered, and ached all over, and knew I had shoved myself. Then I suddenly realized that the washing was still out on the line, and with the news of the storm brewing up, had to wearily go on the yellow peril and get it all in, before itblew away. I got it back to the flat, covered up my buggy safely and just left the whole basket there and tottered off to bed.

So here we are today, and much needs to be done to get things somewhere near normal. I have the sitting exercise class this morning, and will go, as no doubt will feel some benefit. Hope that it will be curling this week, I can take out my frustration knocking my opponents stones away. There is also this thing about doing the NHS app in their online organising week, but with all this virus stuff it may not be able to be done after all. Well we shall see how things go.

tomorrow weather, how my sons health is permitting, I shall be going to meet them about 11am, and hope that all goes through ok as I shall be able to see for myself how he is. Louise will driving of course, so hoping for better news from him.The mountain of ironing piles up, but I have already planned for a quiet day sunday and catch up with ironing and lsten to DID etc.

I am pleased you got the MRI done Mick without any hassle , and hope that it is clear and helpful for the doctors to be able to see the problems.Hope you can enjoy your day now the MRI is sorted. Ashcombe hope you managed to snooze a bit more after your tea. Then maybe you can have a peaceful day with your cat company. I wish I had my cat to stroke right now, I thing cats should be on prescription for anxiety!!

Time to creak out and make a coffee and I might think of some toast this morning. definitely need to write down anything important today , I could easily forget all sorts while my mind is fixed on how my son is doing. This afternoon must have a genera look round, for things I need to take for Joshua etc , if I can get my brain to concentrate. Wishing you all a good day and that the storm doesnt cause you any problems..

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.
The house is quiet with DH and the LC still asleep.

Yesterday we had our trip to Tesco in Bury where I thought I'd find a Hallow'een outfit but they were all either too big or the themes were too gruesome. We'll keep looking.
We did find a Spot's Hallow'een board book which is a big hit. He absolutely loves books.

This morning we're off to Anglesey. It's the start of half term here so I'm hoping the traffic on the A55 will be kind.
This evening we'll have swapped the cot for a bed so we could be in for an interesting time.

Glad your MRI went ok, Mick. Hope your results come through quickly and they don't throw up any unwanted surprises.

For those of you in the path of Storm Austin stay safe.
Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻
