Good morning from Bristol, where it’s dry atm.
Yesterday’s church service was not well attended, partly because of the weather, partly because the preacher’s voice is very hard to hear (due to illness/accident?).
I came home and had a cuppa with a neighbour I haven’t seen for some time.
The afternoon was quiet; I started to put the hospice bags together, just the handles left to sew on. I’m not as quick or productive as karma. Besides I don’t have the space to put all the stuff she sews!
Blood test this lunchtime, and as the weather won’t be so bad, I’ll go straight on to Cabot Circus, have lunch and do some shopping. I haven’t been since August and need a few things. My next few weeks are, again, very full and it’s hard to find a free half day.
Lovely to see you back, blossoming. Sorry you’re feeling so unwell, md, but pleased that you seem to be taking things easier. Maybe you’ve been running on empty for so long that your body has told you to stop ✋. I trust your crossing was ok, ash and return home was uneventful. Hugs to those I’ve missed.

Good morning Mick from a dark N Surrey. It feels pretty cold this morning, but I can't hear any wind. Off to the kitchen for a mug of tea and to refill the hot water bottle. I will also click the heating on upstairs.
A sunny windy day yesterday which was reviving after the rainy grey Saturday.
A bus trip to a nearby town midday for an appointment and a walkabout.
Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Good morning grandMattie. You popped up before I posted

Grandmabatty Mon 26-Oct-26 05:33:18

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and dry. GrandMattie you are a very busy lady too! HelterSkelter the wind appears to have died down here too, thank goodness. Mick I hope you don't have to wait too long for your scan results.
Yesterday was a quiet day at home. It was still very windy so I stayed safe. I washed the floors and read a fair bit.
Today is early childcare day. So I will shortly head to dds, give the boys breakfast when they get up and deliver them to school for the start of the new term. They've had 2 weeks off. Once home, I'm not sure what I will do. Probably have a nap at some point before going back to the school to work in the library for a little while before collecting the boys and bringing them to my house. Dsil will then get dgs1 for football and dd will pick up dgs2.
I'm going to have them 3 days a week going forward. The other granddad is going to hospital this week for surgery and will be out of commission until January at the earliest.
Have a good day all

Good morning everyone, it’s dry here in south Glos too at the moment. I’ve been awake since 2, no particular reason 🙄
The washing dried quickly yesterday in the strong wind, it was pretty gusty at times.
I had a quiet day, but today I need to get sorted for DS and family coming tomorrow. Luckily I went to Lidl first thing yesterday morning, it was absolutely chaotic at 10am, ridiculously busy so I won’t be doing that again!
I came back and reset all the clocks in the house but the cooker clock is furiously blinking so I don’t know what he’s done to it; it won’t reset even if I turn the cooker off at the wall switch 🤷🏼‍♀️ I will get DS to have a look at it tomorrow.
I had to get my heating engineer friend to sort out the heating thermostat, he’s dared DH to touch it in future!
So, housework, cleaning, bed making and cooking today, I’ll be ready for bed by early evening 😁
Enjoy your trip to Cabot Circus grandMattie, I haven’t been for many years.
Take care everyone 🌹

Good morning from a still and cloudy Herefordshire.

Spent an enjoyable weekend with DD and DGC. I was gifted many drawings, mainly featuring pumpkins and ghosts.

I have a Pilates class today then will go for coffee and cake at a local cafe.

Happy Monday all.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Croatia, en route to Split, should be at the berth in about an hour. Just gone 7am here.

My first time in Croatia, and I have booked a short walking tour of Split, so should be interesting.

Had a lovely Sunday on board yesterday, late breakfast, then tried to do my mile around the deck but it was chilly and very windy so only managed one lap!
Had a delicious roast beef lunch then went to see "An interview with Ken Bruce", very amusing as he explained how he came to work for the BBC and his life on air.
Then another ballet class, and finished my second book.
Formal night and another good dinner then went to see Ken Bruce present an edition of his music quiz "Popmaster" to a packed audience. Fun and informative!

No idea what I shall be doing when I get back from my excursion, so will just let the day happen; may sit out on deck this afternoon.
Wishing all a pleasant day.

Sounds like you are having a lovely time, blue, not to mention the gorgeous weather!

Good morning Michael and all GN's on a very dark, but still morning in North Yorkshire. Cant hear any wind or rain so far. I have radio3 unwind on at the moment and it is a calming but for me cheering programme as they have some lovely music on but interspersed with other sounds. So they often have water whether sea or river and now have birdsong. I find it very soothing and on a bad day it reminds me that there are other better days, and as we gloomily face cold miserable weather hearing these birds is very cheering.

I am still struggling and hobbling about and yesterday was very much a day of recovery. My back was reminding me that I should break up journeys and not keep driving nonstop, and the knees are also protesting. I had an odd sort of day, as I would begin something and then feel so weary I had to go and lie down and have a rest, I did manage to fall asleep for a little while twice but the day was all akilter, partly the change in time, but I couldnt decide what I wanted to eat, or whether I could face the actual making of something, so the casserole got put off until today, and I was quite happy with sausages and saute potatoes and a yoghurt. However , it has meant that I managed to make the most of the blowy but dry weather and got towels washed and pegged firmly on the line to dry, and the kitchen is clean and decent with all the washing up done so that I start in a better way today.

The thought of getting some ironing done, proved too optimistic, but was glad to have done anything at all really. I went through some paperwork and suddenly realized that I have been mixing up MOT date and car insurance date, so first thing today is getting that sorted. I will make that a reason for also going through my files and see if there is anything else that I have forgotten or need to check through. I did catch up with a few things though and have done the paperwork to join the U3a for this last couple of months of the year. Looking at the programme there is a lot that I would be interested in going to, but I already have seen 2 things that clash with things I already do and so it will give me the chance to decide if it will work for me. I would definitely like to try tai chi. Probably what I could do with right now! This is when you feel you are getting old, when it takes days to shake off a big effort , rather than just a decent nights sleep (whats that?)

As I only went up to the washing line yesterday, today I will need to get some shopping in, but it will be the minimum and I have no great plans for today, just see what I can manage and then probably try and do a bit of ironing. I may be galvanised into making an effort as all my favourite T shirts and underwear are in the basket. I am glad that as far as I can remember I am not expected anywhere and will be happy to take things slowly here. Funny isnt it that the reality can be the same , you are at home on your own, yet you can feel very differently about it. You may relish a cozy uninterupted peaceful time to yourself, or on the other hand feel hemmed in or lonely and wish you were anywhere else but here. Today is definitely a pleased to go slowly and keep warm day for me.

Hope your day goes well Mick and that you get your results from the MRI scan soon. GrandMattie hope you have a successful outing and the weather is kind to you. What is Cabot Circus? I havent heard of it. Roses and Lilac good to see you are able to do things more but hope you can have a rest before the family all arrive. Even things we enjoy can be very tiring. Wishing everyone a calm and steady day with some time for yourselves.

Good morning Michael and all GMs from South Yorkshire where It is seven degrees and still dark. My iPad is doing silly things this morning. Won’t print numbers and I have to jump through hoops to do pretty much anything!

Yesterday was a very quiet day. I made braised steak in the slow cooker and did some ironing. DD and SiL came over for an hour in the afternoon which broke the day up nicely. I watched Young Musician of the Year in the evening and was pleased to see that my three favourite semi finalists are through to the finals. An all female final this year.
Chiropodist is coming this morning and then if it has calmed down and stays dry I will go out somewhere.

Have the best day you can, folks.

grandMattie Mon 26-Oct-26 06:34:50

Cabot circus is the shopping centre in the middle of Bristol, madeleine! Nothing very exciting.
There is a Mall to the north of the city but it’s so big and noisy… loathe it!

Good morning from s somerset, calm weather and a bit of rain

We, my immediate family and I had the most wonderful and happy news yesterday. DS and his partner of 29 years have quietly married, I have always thought of her as a dil but now it is official. We are all over the moon and I have always hoped for this to happen.

My rose bushes at the front of my house were badly hammered by the to and fro gusts, one was starting to uproot so it was action stations. They were about 6 feet tall and beautiful but I had to work quickly and put a stake in for that bush, grabbed my equipment and a few hours later all the bushes were 1/3 of that height and denuded of leaves.

I filled 3 great big pop ups full to the top and towards the end of my session did the best I can re pruning properly. I pulled my gardening loves off to see all the areas that the roses had attacked with thorns, one hand was black, blue red and the area under the skin was very swollen. I dealt with that, hot water soap, arnica pill and something else and am so happy that the swelling has gone down and colour is already fading

Rose thorns can be dangerous and they penetrated gardening gloves, next time I will wear my leather gloves. I had to walk the length of the tip site with each heavy popup, a site worker asked if I needed help but I gently said no and that was my exercise for the day, done by lunchtime

Today I will take my usual walk to the salvation army with some new and unworn, warm hand-made clothing to pass on to those in need. My wardrobe, it is never too full. Todays offering is sewn and hand knitted jumpers and sweatshirts

I want to catch up with myself today and will be making the mushroom and lentil cottage pies, to freeze
