Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start to the day here in Brackley .
My usual bus journey to Bicester this morning to do a shop and hopefully chat to people I know .
Lunch wise a visit to local Fish & Chips hop.
Yesterday I brought Rick Wakemans auto biography , 6 years ago he came to my nephews wedding , and I sat beside him in the taxi back to the hotel.
Health wise ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. It’s dark but I think it’s dry outside.

Enjoy your book Mick.

I had a quiet day at home yesterday listening to music and getting on with my crochet. Peaceful and relaxing.

A supermarket shop is needed today and I have to pop into a ceramic cafe to pick up the items painted by my grandchildren when we took them there a couple of weeks ago. The little pottery animals will have been glazed and fired and should be ready for collection.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Good morning from a dry Bristol.
Try flat doesn’t get much light as it faces north, but I hadn’t realised how much was blocked by the scaffolding.
We had a residents’ meeting with two of the building/maintenance chaps from Anchor, with Teflon Charing. It was very interesting that not only did they listen to our complaints and concern, but they wrote them down and gave proper replies rather than waffle and evade the issue. Many of the things have waited for over 3 years.
I went round my bit and showed them the shoddy work. Photos, notes and genuine anger at the contractors! I was impressed.
I got m6 paper extra early so as to be there for the new ho, expected from 7 am to ??? I got back at 0704 to fin£ two chaps on my doorstep! They got on with the swap - all well, except…
a) the electrician’s fly zip broke and he needed safety pins, poor man, 😆, b) while swapping throbs, he saw the top of my built-in oven. Apparently, it was damaged before installation, which should never have been done. I had to report it for a replacement. Blast!
The rest of the day was spent baking for tomorrow’s fete, and with one eye for the live concert on Wednesday. I made bloodies, brownies, Bakewell tarts (using ready made pastry bases)and some cookies…
In the late afternoon, I called Curry’s to report the fault/illegal or certainly negligence with the oven (now 3 years old). I spent over an hour (in India?) being passed from one person to another, put on hold, cut off, repeating my story each time. Finally, I got told to call Hotpoint - Martin Lewis says that that is is illegal! Today, I’m writing to the complaints department enclosing photos and threatening small claims court.
I’m furious at the negligence and having been knowingly sold a pup!
Today, more baking. Hair cut here with two neighbours, then the fete organiser is picking me (and my baking) up to take to the church.
I hope all is well for the beginning of your weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Herefordshire. It's going to be another mild day. Yesterday when I went for a walk I regretted wearing my warm coat. I'm sure it was colder in the house than outside.

Today I'm travelling to Llandudno to stay with a friend for a while as this time of year is when her partner passed away. The weather forecast looks to be good for driving. I'm staying over in Shrewsbury tonight though as it will break up the drive.

Happy Friday all.

Good morning from s somerset, dry and bright later today

Gov login from the other day was useful, I managed to renew my driving licence online, the start of the process was daunting but it was successful. I am thinking that I am glad I renewed my passport when I did, for identification

Cycling to and fro the allotment was very enjoyable, I only stayed for ten minutes and checked my new and primitive water collection system, bins with upside down lids. They are well over half full now

The back of my hand is still very bruised and looking worse, as expected. I was attacked by roses through normal gardening gloves. Bruises on old people can take 3 weeks to disappear. Anyway I am going to oil my skin much more often, it has become very thin and fragile, especially on my arms. I found my solar-shading arm covers and they are on now, over my oiled arms, better late than never

I do have bits and bobs to do today, I want to continue tidying my garage, shredding paper for my compost worms, take cardboard to the tip and so on.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny coast of NW Sicily. We are approaching our port of Trapani where we are due to spend the day. My coach tour of the surrounding area is early afternoon, so a leisurely morning ahead. Excitement and interest on board yesterday as we sailed through the narrow Straits of Messina between the toe of Italy and Sicily!

Missed breakfast yesterday so opted for Danish pastries and a cappuccino instead. At lunchtime a light lunch of stir fry pork in the Asian restaurant followed by two times around the deck. Then had a tap-dancing class late afternoon.

Photos are from Wednesday's walking tour of old Dubrovnik.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

More photos of Dubrovnik.

Good morning Michael and all GN's on a very dark and still day in North Yorkshire. I am tottering about with difficulty at the moment, and hope things will improve after a while.

I still havent heard from my son. Hopefully it means just that things went on late in the afternoon, and that there is some progress, and that it is positive. Or just that he was shattered when they got home and just didnt do anything. Or he could have stayed in the hospital. Whatever I shall ring them after 8am and find out, if they dont contact me before then. I said I wouldnt ring them yesterday, and stuck to what I said, but it has been a very stressful and anxious day, and a poor night and I am definitely paying for it in worse aches and pains.

A poor day altogether yesterday. Of course, in the mood I was in, I was not at my best. I firstly tried to sort out something with my bank, which was useless with the stupid automatic things. None of the questions covered what I wanted to do and it was just a waste of time and I had to give that up. Then I was struggling physically, and that didnt improve at all as everything took longer than normal and was totally infuriating , whatever I was trying to do .Eventually I acknowledged that I was going to do nothing well here, and slowly got ready and went off on the yellow peril, to the town, where I did succeed in one or two bits I needed to do, called in at the meeting, but they were doing a craft thing, with crochet and various other things. fewer than usual as it was half term and I just wasnt in the mood and didnt stay.

The town was busy with visitors and people out making the most of a dry day, but even a ride in the park and looking at some of the autumn colours in the trees just starting, didnt help me and I came home, I thought in good time to see the cleaners, but they had finished and I had just missed them by the wet floor. I warmed up the rest of the casserole I had made and added a couple of potatoes and had that , which was at least warming and comforting food. I couldnt settle to anything and felt too tired and edgy to even start on the ironing, so did nothing useful, and eventually went to bed in the hope that I might get a decent nights sleep.

So here I am , hoping that no news is good news, and have checked , but there is no email either. I am going to have some coffee and hobble into the shower to hopefully improve how I feel and get rid of a bit of the tension. Today it is the seated games and think it will be the boring boca as we had the good curling last week, but whatever it is, so long as I have heard from my son, it will be a chance at some physical effort to relieve things. I shall be at my most devilish shooting to send opponents stones off the mat, which will help me if not the opposition! It is the rather useless chap in charge today, who definitely is no way a teacher. Sadly last week there were less people and I was told that about 4 of them had chosen not to come back until Joe returns. I can understand that they dont want to pay £4 to not enjoy a session and go away grumpy, but I think that the actual physical exercise is worthwhile and what they originally came for, so I shall carry on and take my irritation out on the game. At least it will make me go out, whatever the weather.

If things go better this morning, I really must get down to some ironing. Hopefully there is some good play or music on radio 3 to soothe me and at least seeing the pile of ironed clothes rising is very cheering, providing me with a choice of clothes that I like . Definitely that autumn situation, where you might need a thin t shirt and sunglasses and in half an hour searching for a warm sweater to add to the outfit. All you can be sure of is that whatever you choose to wear, you feel later that you chose the wrong thing!!

I can get the local paper today, and I am going to look to see if there is a repair cafe style thing on at the weekend. I can then take my new trousers and get them measured up against my blue cords, which are the best length on me, to get the hems taken up and check them over, by their very good needlewoman. That will be a contribution to their charity, a chance for a coffee and maybe a home made cake, and I do enjoy seeing good work being done, so will no doubt see some clever mending of woodwork and metal things too. The rise of these cafes is very good, encouraging a make do and mend attitude rather than yet more landfill. As the cost of living rises, people are more prepared to try and fix things rather than just throw them away and get a new thing. Then I shall have another pair of good trousers for the winter , in quite a different colour. So that will hopefully be a successful outcome, and I will see if there is anything else I might go to. If nothing particular happening I may take myself off to an art gallery or go off to the Bowes museum, to look at their paintings and the silver swan again.

Well I can now just make out the shape of the tree against the light, but very cold and I quickly shut the curtains again When I get any news I will return and let you know and read everyones posts. I read all your posts last night from yesterday and do hope that Marydoll has got a bed at last in the right ward and is improving. The pictures of Croatia were very good. I was there , well it was called Yugoslavia then, in either 1968 or 69, but havent been back since. It was an interesting place to visit and we loved Trogir and camped there for quite a while. I could wish for a Tardis to whisk me away there tomorrow! Hope that the day goes well for everyone and thank you all for your good wishes yesterday. I am very grateful that I have the company of all the GN's and you have helped me to get through this rough time. I do appreciate it. Wishing you all a good day
