Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is just light. I came to bed early last night and slept but had a night of weird dreams! Must have been the cheese and crackers!

I did an early shop yesterday and then went and had a much needed haircut. I then set to and made a chicken curry from scratch which I always find quite satisfying. We will eat it this evening when DD and the menfolk come over. Today will be spent cleaning and at some point I’ll walk down to the supermarket for a few bits and pieces to go with the curry.

I don’t know if we’ll get any trick or treaters. They were out in force last year but I had to go out at the last minute so missed them all.

Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s a chilly 6 degrees , slightly misty but I can see blue sky above the mist. I had my usual walk in lovely sunshine yesterday morning then went to bingo in the village hall. Good fun, a chance to catch up with friends and won a small cash prize! What’s not to like!
DD1 and family arrived home safely from their holiday, i hope to see them over the weekend, but they will be busy getting ready for work and school on Monday and may not have time to come over.

grandmattie the Duracell bunny has nothing on you, you are so busy! I hope you have a more restful week next week.

marzipan I hope you are able to relax in your Premier Inn and enjoy the change of scenery. Hopefully your new bus pass will arrive soon so you can resume your journeys around Cornwall. I don’t like Halloween either, my granddaughters fine it hard to believe we didn’t celebrate Halloween when I was young!
Thank you for the beautiful photos bluesapphire and enjoy your day at sea.

I hope marydoll has been able to leave the holding pen and is now receiving proper care in the cardiology ward.

Best wishes to all who are feeling poorly.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s very foggy! Was surprised to see it so. 12°C is our forecast.

L’il Miss came for a sleepover and we slept well last night. I’ve got TiB now and she is on my iPad playing a game with soft music background - designing a house apparently.

Strictly this evening next door but two which is enjoyable for us both. No interruptions by ‘trick or treaters’ this evening in apartment life!

Susan56 Sat 31-Oct-26 07:22:39

Good morning from Shropshire.A very foggy start.

We took the children to a craft session at the library yesterday. It was based on repairing and up cycling clothes. They each made a bag out of an old T-shirt and some little patches. They were the only two children there which was a shame as it was a really good session run by Veolia. The upside was they had the lovely lady leading the session all to themselves.

Today DH and I are going for a drive to Ludlow. We will visit a NT property on the way for lunch. The autumn colours are beautiful at the moment so should be a nice drive.

I hope Marydoll is finally on the cardiology ward and that madeleine has had better news from her son.

Thinking of our absent good morning friends and hope to see you back soon.

Wishing everyone the best day possible 🦩🎃👻

Good morning from somewhere in the English channel.
Our cruise ships was due to dock in Cherbourg today but has been advised not to, due to protests in France today.
We've had a brilliant week away and will reach Southampton and disembark early tomorrow.
Sending my best wishes to everyone xx

Good morning from Sheffield
I’ve finally finished my full-time work stint,my legs are throbbing from standing up all day every day for the past 2 1/2 weeks .
Hubby has healed fantastically. The pain has disappeared and the wound has healed brilliantly. The other hand will be done in three months.

I’m on my second tea in bed with the gorgeous cockatoo beside me. Now I need to catch up on all the household items that haven’t been done.
I really quite enjoyed it as I do love my job but back to part time for me now .

I have been reading everyone’s news, just felt as though I have nothing to contribute as all I’ve been doing is working and sleeping .

GrandMattie , I do hope you find somebody to help you, trouble is you come to resent doing things when it should be a pleasure to volunteer .
Marydoll , Hopefully you are getting the treatment you need, and that they can refine your treatment so you feel better when you get home.
Madeleine, did you sort out the problem with your car and the fine that you were being incorrectly charged for?

and take care everyone flowers

I ordered another bus pass immediately HelterSkelter as I had no idea where it went astray because I travel so widely and could have dropped it anywhere between Plymouth and Penzance. It cost £11.25 to replace but that's not bad for seven years' free travel! Hopefully the one you found will be reunited with its owner.

HelterSkelter1 Sat 31-Oct-26 07:01:02

luluaugust your post reminds me of the wall of fog I would often meet suddenly on the stretch of road in mid Kent between the M20 (I think) and the M2. Very very scary. And the foghorns by the seaside.

HelterSkelter1 Sat 31-Oct-26 06:57:15

Marzipan22 I found a senior bus pass on the bench at the bus stop round the corner yesterday morning...not yours sadly...
I wondered how the owner got on the bus without it, but maybe they had just got off and sat down. I didn't recognise the photo nor the name.
Like you they will be lost without it. I posted it to the county council bus pass office. Hope they post it back and dont charge the owner for the replacement. Did you have to pay an admin charge?

Marzipan22 Sat 31-Oct-26 06:54:39

I envy, weirdly, your Avenging Angel karmalady. I love fungi and have always wanted to see that deadly but beautiful toadstool in real life.

Marzipan22 Sat 31-Oct-26 06:50:51

Good morning from a Premier Inn where I'm staying for two nights while my carpets dry completely. Yesterday I went to have the carcinoma on my neck cut out and the surgeon, ready in his scrubs, looked quite disappointed when he found that it had shrunk and only needed 'burning off'. So that's that.

Somehow I've lost my bus pass - my lifeline! - so am limiting jaunts until the new one arrives. Today I'll just walk to a corner shop and spend most of the day reading Bella Poldark, the last of the Poldark books.

I hate Halloween and its ghoulishness so will be glad when that's over.

gM it sounds like you have a need to go at full pelt. 🌼 🌸

luluaugust Sat 31-Oct-26 06:48:39

Good morning from a misty Kent, very thick this morning.
A quiet day today of shopping, curry and Strictly
Goodness gM it does all sound very busy take care
Best wishes

GrannySomerset, was interested to read that you were about to discuss "Cahokia Jazz"; our book group read it last year, and it got a mixed review.
I found it difficult to get into, but about a third of the way through I found myself enjoying it.
The concept was quite weird, with a society arranged completely differently from ours. Hope you had a good discussion about it!

HelterSkelter1 Sat 31-Oct-26 06:33:08

Trouble is grandMattie if you "plug on till you collapse" then everything will stop and no one will be happy least of all you.

Can you advertise within the church for a young mum to help you.... and learn from you. So someone to take up the reins when you need to take time out. Some one who has not gone back to work and has a child or children at nursery or school and can spare some time. Does the church have a playgroup with mums attending?

I am sure you know yourself you are doing far too much and will make yourself ill for the sake of making others "happy".

People will let you do that as long as you carry on. People are quick to praise and slow to help. And they now expect you to carry on to do everything until you drop. And your life outside the church is anything but quiet and relaxed.

karmalady Sat 31-Oct-26 06:28:45

I did love Sicily Bluesapphire we went to a restaurant and the men sitting in there looked scary and wore mafia-type suits and trilby hats. Your photos and descriptions are uplifting and lovely

BlueSapphire Sat 31-Oct-26 06:23:02

Good morning everyone from a calm morning in the Med, on our way from Italy to Spain.

Had a lovely warm and sunny day yesterday in Sicily, with a coach tour of the area, and a visit to an ancient mountain-top village, where it was distinctly cooler; but I did find a warm sunny spot to enjoy a glass of wine!

Today I hope to catch up on reading on deck, have lunch in the fish restaurant, and go to ballet class this afternoon

Some pictures from yesterday in Sicily.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

RosesandLilac Sat 31-Oct-26 06:10:16

grandMattie

*r&l*,I don’t know either. Just plug on until I collapse. Trouble is, that if I don’t do it, things don’t get done… in this case, it’s for a dementia charity - both my parents were demented, so I feel I must help.

Bless you grandMattie, your generosity and dedication is truly amazing, I just hope everyone appreciates you 🤗

Good morning, it’s dry here at the moment although I suspect it’ll be misty within the next couple of hours.
Honestly grandMattie I felt exhausted reading your day, I truly don’t know how you do it! I don’t have anywhere near your energy 🤗
I did spend some time yesterday wandering around the village after having a delicious breakfast at our little village cafe. It only opens for a few hours twice a week, very simple but delicious food and it’s very popular. It was lovely to be outside.
Today I’m walking bigger dog, she’s becoming adverse to going with DH, mainly because he insists that she goes in the car which she barely tolerates for short distances.
So, she and I are going for an amble, possibly across the fields and I will relish being out.
Nothing else happening here, I am turning the heel on the second sock so I will get on with that later.
I can’t believe it’s Halloween today, for some odd reason I was sure it wasn’t until next weekend. Clearly my brain is scrambled!
Anyway, I will wish you all a happy weekend and sending best wishes for the poorly and stressed ones x
🌹

karmalady Sat 31-Oct-26 05:27:40

Good morning from s somerset, should be a bright day and maybe foggy

I can smell fungi in the air and yesterday saw an amanita in my allotment strawberry bed, not just any amanita but a very poisonous one. It looks a bit like a very white field mushroom from above but has pure white gills and is more slender, this amanita is absolutely deadly. The ordinary name for this one is avenging angel .I am definitely going to put mulch around every strawberry plant next spring, to raise the strawberries. Amanitas are to be avoided, many are poisonous

The car needs a bit of cleaning first today, I am off on a trip late morning and want to get the car cleaned and make a pan of leek and potato soup before I leave

GillyMo Sat 31-Oct-26 05:22:26

Good morning from Shropshire on the first leg of my journey to Wales. I fear it's going to be foggy here so I will have a leisurely breakfast in the hotel before setting off later.

Happy Saturday all.

grandMattie Sat 31-Oct-26 05:18:00

Good morning from Bristol, where it is also dark and dry.
I’m exhausted from yesterday’s exertions and not looking forward to today’s.
Yesterday, I had to do 2 toads of washing, dry it, etc. then set about baking, where I made some flapjacks, ginger nuts and two coffee and walnut sandwich cakes, which then needed to be cool enough to I’ve and set a little before collection.
Unfortunately, half way through, I had @ sudden and debilitating bout of dizziness which meant I had to take a pill, then lie down for 1/2 hour for it to pass.
Oh, I made some tomato soup for lunch, which I had early, then had a good nap, before organising myself for my friend to collect me and my stuff in her car, later.
The hairdresser came bang on time, and while she was cutting my hair, the other two ladies came for their cut.
The car came, we put the stuff in the car, went to church. I found out that the servery in church was blocked by chairs, etc. Although,I shall e serving in the hall, I need to access the servery for various things.
Came home, had dinner, washed my hair as I was very itchy from bits, went to bed early as I needed sleep.
Today, I shall have to go to church early, to sort out the servery mess, then go to a meeting for the church coffees, set up my stall in the hall + put out seats and tables, cloths, etc., for the punters….
I shan’t have time to go home at “half time”, nor lunch, so must organise that before leaving. Oh heck! I wish people were more willing to help with the boring stuff, like tidying up, or carrying chairs and tables… (there will be a Halloween party in the church a little under 2 hours after the end of the fete!🤨)
My wish is that people are happy and enjoy their afternoon.
So, today, that’s what’s happening.
I hope that md gets a bed in the cardiac ward (and gets herself some earplugs), that everyone else has a good day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
