A magnificent sunset over the fields seen from my bathroom window yesterday made it a special day for me.

I LOVE the Lakes! And various surrounding areas! Have been there several times over the years. Beautiful photo, thank you!

Family holidays at Loweswater when our boys were little. The beautiful Lake district. We called in at the farm for fresh milk and my wee boys took turns to carry it in its pail up the hill to the cottage we rented.
Cows in the next field. Idyllic. 50 years ago now.

Thanks for the memories Sago

Wonderful post Sago. I made a decision a while back to find this sort of feeling every single day. I journal them. Even if it is something as simple as a leaf falling. I hope that does not sound patronising. It is not meant that way.

Not patronising at all!

Beautiful post Sago. I was brought up not far from the Lakes and we spent a lot of time enjoying this spectacular part of the UK. Kendall mint cake in the pockets of our anoraks and up Scafell Pike for amazing views. Happy days.
Thanks for this.

Castlerigg is beautiful, isn't it? And even better when you can get there before the crowds.

I love the lakes, haven't been for over 30 years.
I remember my first visit to County Donegal in October 1997 and I just thought it was the most beautiful place in the world, still do.
Thank you for posting such a beautiful pic and such an uplifting post
Its a beautiful sunny morning here 😎

Yesterday I visited the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, one of my favourite places, to catch the last of the autumn colours before they fade. Such a wonderful day, the art, the beautiful trees, the sunshine, the birdsong. I felt truly blessed and at peace with the world.

Lots of wonderful memories of very special days and happy times with my lovely husband in that very part of the world Sago

That inner peace inside of me is like a warm blanket I pull on when the reality of living life without him hits.

Thank You for your lovey OP it’s a reminder for me that loves never dies.

What a lovely post, thank you.

I returned for a day to the area where I used to have a caravan in the country. I tootled round the autumn lanes in my Noddy car with Classic FM on the radio, visited a lovely farm shop and stocked up on good things. A simple day, but perfect.

Another day recently was meeting up with a colleague I have known since I was in my teens and not seen for ages. The hours went by with good companionship and plans to meet up again.

A beautiful walk along a stunning stretch of the south coast. The sea was so blue. Bought an ice cream, watched the paragliders dip and soar in the distance over the cliffs. Drove home in a warm, bathing, golden light. Autumn does have its own beauty which is almost magical.

Apologies 😳 - I realise how negative that sounded and was absolutely not meant to be a ‘downer’
Indeed, as I said, I wish you -and all of us many days like this. 🍀

MawlovesRosie Sun 01-Nov-26 09:12:50

I absolutely do not begrudge you this and hope you have many more days like this
There have been some golden days or moments in my life when I felt it couldn’t actually get any better and I treasure those.
But thinking of all of us for whom this sort of day can only be a memory.

We are currently at our timeshare in the Lakes, we started coming 40 years ago, I was a young Mum at 23!
Over the years we have had all kinds of weather but rarely a week with as good a forecast as this week, also we have hit the Autumn colours it is beyond beautiful.
We hope to achieve a good walk each day, which will be a first!

Yesterday we did Castlerigg stone circle, the light was spectacular it had such an ethereal feel.

When I got into bed last night I was so thankful for the beauty, the time spent with my lovely husband, son and daughter in law, I thought in the words of Guy Garvey One day like this will see me right!

What has your one day been?
