Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry and foggy outside here in Brackley this morning.
My plan for the day a light breakfast at home , before I get a early bus to Bicester , go to the bakery cafe and have a fried breakfast which should see me through until later, maybe a beer or two, shop and hopefully chat to people I know .
Later I will have a Chinese take away.
Health OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Durham. Woke a couple of hours ago, feeling very sick. I don’t have DD2’s dog here, so I might settle down and see if I can sleep - well propped up.
Will read through properly later, but hope Marydoll has had a better night.

Best wishes to all. X

I’m here; very tired after my two mega-refreshment catering events in 4 days.
Nothing to say about my boring life..
Hope md improves, that fgt’s audiology appointment went well and that you are all coping with what life throws at you.

Good morning from Herefordshire where it is raining.

Yesterday I got caught in a bit of a traffic jam. A combination of roadworks and afternoon school traffic added an extra 30 minutes to my food shopping trip. By the time I got home I was so hungry I had a poached egg on toast with some homemade chutney for tea. Totally skipped dinner. Woken up hungry.

Today, I am making choc chip cookies to take to the men's shed. I don't attend but one of my friends does and I know they appreciate biscuits with their tea.

Happy Saturday all.

Good morning Michael and all GN's from a very dark and still day in North Yorkshire. I am creaking around this morning and hope that I can get going soon as I have quite a lot I need to do today and things that I want to do too.

Yesterday, I managed to get to the bocca class on the yellow peril, and was a bit disappointed that we didnt get curling, as the equipment hadnt been returned to our group. Gnash Gnash! However it was Joe taking the group which was good, and there was quite a lot of us . I was really struggling and finding even sat in a suitable chair quite painful. However I managed to take part in everything, but had to accept help from Joe and other people picking up my bocca things. Trying to bend down or reach out for things was very painful, and I was very wary and careful moving about, in case I got "stuck" in a position. However it was worth the trip, and I came away pleased that I had made the effort, and called at Tesco for the local paper and a couple of bits, and then glad to get home and have a rest. I heated up some soup, and had that and some bread for a very easy lunch, not having to stand around or try to cook much. I had intended to do various things in the afternoon, but couldnt face it, and did very little. Watched Monty Don on gardeners world and then there was a following programme on him and I think it was who do you think you are or something. Anyway I was more comfortable sat up on the bed and was watching it there. It was quite interesting about his great grandparents etc and talking about one of them being in New Zealand. The next thing I knew was that it was ten past ten, the programme had finished and I had missed it and has slept for nearly an hour. Not good news, as I was then wide awake and after washing up and so forth and tidying up and going to bed I was of course not able to get to sleep for a very long time. Well glad to get any sleep , but it is all topsy turvy.

Todays plan is to go down the town, get the Yorkshire Post and any bits I want and then get back and get some vegetables prepared for later for dinner. This afternoon, there is the book sale in the village I go to for whist drives. It is quite an occasion, with tables full of books in their various categories, and I am like a child in a sweetie shop, going round every table, and seeing old friends and looking for favourite authors to see if there is a book I havent read of theirs. I must try not to get too many, but I am happy to support them, all the money goes to keeping the village hall going , which is to everyones benefit, and it is a lovely occasion, meeting other bookworms there. So , of course, my aim is to be ready in the car park for the opening at 1pm, complete with change and bags .I just hope that I am feeling a bit better by then, as bending over looking at books might be rather a painful exercise if I am still as I am now.

I might get round to checking through drawers and wardrobe to remove last remnants of summer things this evening, so that is the sum total of my planning for the day. No other great plans apart from speaking to my son at some point and find out if they had a good bonfire evening and how he is settling into his new job etc.

Didnt get much time reading emails and things yesterday, so I shall try and catch up with those and of course catch up with all GN's doings today and from some on yesterday. I hope you have a good trip out today Mick and see lots of friends. Wishing you a safe trip and that you enjoy the show Susan. I am the same if I have anything planned, where I worry that I will miss the alarm, especially as I now live alone and find myself waking 2 or 3 times in the night checking on the time! Well it is still very dark and cold outside and so time to get some breakfast and write my shopping list, whilst I remember bits and pieces. Will be back to read the happenings with everyone later.Hoping everyone has a good day and that there is good news from anyone struggling today

Good morning from Sheffield

Oh Susan I’m with you there. Why is it that sleep eluded me when I really need a good reserve of energy for the day ahead. I was awake at 2.30. I saw 4 o’clock but fortunately fell back to sleep again. Enjoy the show.

GrandMattie your life is anything but boring. You do so many different things, and see people. Please tell us about your days. I look forward to seeing your posts.

We are going to London on the 8.30 train and be at King’s Cross for 10.03. A jam packed day ahead. I do love going to London.

Just having tib and then I’m up.
Take care everyone flowers

Good morning from s somerset, it should be bright today

It was busy yesterday, I have removed any damaged leaves from the winter spinach and chard patches and also removed the netting from the cabbage plants, my one sprout plant was a failure this year, one sprout plant normally does very well and sees me through winter

Sewing, yes of course, I needed a blue layering top and made one from fabric I had already cut-out. The top is Hepburn and I have made over a dozen through several years. The Fabric is horrible to work with, bamboo jersey, slippery but cosy to wear. After lunch I made the Imogen pj top, again already cut-out. Today I will make the pj pants and that will be another set of PJs for this winter. Bamboo jersey for those too and I can think of better fabrics so will not be buying that fabric again

I am loving my knitting, ok I had to frog again, through mixing up the increases but the yarn is lovely to work with, I think I spun it from merino/cashmere/silk. Bought around 2014 and I have lots more in different colours, completely protected in secured cardboard barrels

I am always amazed at how the knitting mojo returns, silently and slowly. I want to knit some shorter jumpers to go over the likes of a Winterland pinafore or a dress

My A5 diaries from 2023 are still in a pile in my kitchen, today is the day I will be combining dates into my new and nicer 2027 diary. I splashed out a bit on this new diary, it has a lovely textured cover and better paper and I bought it locally and that pile has been niggling me for ages

Good morning from my dark, still patio in Cornwall where I've been experimenting with using the flash on my phone camera. Gulls are flying past in the dark sky with their undersides catching a fragment of light reflected from the river.

I've avoided Gransnet lately because of the flakiness and insecurity of the site but will see how it goes over the next week or so.

Today, like yesterday, a sunny day is promised so I won't waste it by staying in. St Ives is beckoning, as usual, but it's quite a trek by bus so I may take the train - well, a bus and two trains in fact, but it's still quicker than just getting a bus there and back.

The sky is lightening now - I love this time of day when everything but the gulls is still.

Morecambe Bay. We have another dry, calm, cloudy day in store. DH will take crazy dog and I will have an empty this morning. I think I’ll get into my garden and get the roses cut back. I usually cut them down around now and a more careful pruning in spring.
I also intend to try out my new mower.
Yesterday we got to Keswick. I was pleased there was still plenty of colour as it’s virtually gone here.
We had a pub lunch and DH bought himself a waterproof coat. It was a bit on the pricey side so I told him it’s his Christmas present!
Is anyone in touch with Gillybob ? She was struggling to keep her business afloat during Covid then stopped posting. I’d love to know how she’s doing.
susan I have envy! Enjoy.
Take care everyone 🌸

Good morning from a calm and dry Torbay.

Your life certainly isn’t boring, grandMattie. In fact, all the posters on this thread have interesting contributions about their lives. Such a range of hobbies, activities and pastimes!

Yesterday, we left my violin with a charming instrument repairer who will mend as necessary then sell it on our behalf. He originates from close to where DH lives in France but has British citizenship and settled status here. We were pleasantly surprised by his valuation as my aunt bought it in 1968 from an advertiser in her local paper in Hounslow for £10!

Enjoy your weekend plans, everyone with safe travels and improving health to those who are suffering. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from a foggy Kent. I think it will be a quick dash for a newspaper and then a day at home. I want to get the Christmas cards started, everything takes me ages now although there are fewer every year now.
Curry and Strictly tonight
Best wishes all round

Hello everyone and good morning, from foggy London town.
Went food shopping yesterday, very heavy bags. Had to stop and rest every 200 yards.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it’s 7degrees the sun is not quite up it looks a bit gloomy out. I think I’ve brought a cold back from London with me and a problem with my left hip which I sincerely hope will settle down as I have been limping since Wednesday.

I had a good session at school yesterday. There comes a point where you start to see children progress with their reading and when they come into the library engaged and with a spring in their step, you feel you’re doing something right. Not all down to me by any means of course but every little helps.

Today I will try and get out into the garden for a general tidy up, and have a think about how whether I tackle pruning my roses now, or leave it until after the winter. I’m a bit faint hearted about pruning but managed not it to kill them last year!

Enjoy London, Melanie!

Have the best day you can can folks.

Good morning Mick and everyone from still dark Carlisle where I suspect it is rather cloudy.
Yesterday early the pest controller popped by, no bait taken this week so we think the rat problem is probably sorted but the bait has been left for just one more week in case. He's a friendly, informative guy and it was interesting to find out how he knew it wasn't mice that had eaten the bait...they only have a nibble and don't gobble the lot apparently.
Later, I did some admin then read my book, not feeling up to much, I think my body is having a wee struggle with reducing the steroids. I've given it a ticking off and it's going for a walk shortly to get the papers.

Today I'm forced to confront some tedious but necessary admin though I'm still hoping to get some little jobs done outside, weather permitting.

Please don't anyone think their lives are too boring to put down here. My days can seem uneventful but when I joined Gransnet I was relieved to see others lived similarly. As for those who do much more and those who suffer ailments and problems, they are an inspiration. Though I am a world expert at procrastination and it is difficult to resist the lure of a book!

Have a great day everyone if you can.
