Good Morning everyone from a dry Severnside.

Yesterday was a little better from being a lazy oaf the day before. I will carry on with my sewing and pottering today.

Stay as safe as possible and take care 🌷

Goodmorning Mick and all x

Brightening up here in S E Essex.

I am having such trouble sleeping at the moment, I wake up three or four times and struggle to go back to sleep each time.
I guess it is the change in routine due to being confined to barracks.

Not sure what is on the agenda for today, will search the freezer for chicken thighs for a Thai Green Curry for dinner before the herbs and chillis are past their best. The GC requested ribs and chips which is doable as I shall cook a whole rack which means he can have ribs tonight and Grandmas pulled pork tomorrow

Keep safe and well folks.

Good morning Mick and everyone.

Some blue sky in Kent. DH and I will go to Tesco for the wrinklies hour. I will wait in the car whilst he shops. Hopefully the pharmacy has my prescription I requested last Monday.
Stay safe everyone.

brook2704 Wed 01-Apr-20 07:09:54

Good morning all from a cloudy wet Inverness ☹️

Usual day for me today, although I’ve got a Tesco delivery to look forward to this afternoon!

DD made chocolate brownies with the DGC yesterday and normally would have sent some round to us. All I got yesterday was a photo ....

Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and stay safe everyone 💐

Scentia Wed 01-Apr-20 07:16:37

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. Looks a little grey out there today.
Working from home today, DH is going into the factory to get on with an order we got yesterday. He needs to do a stock take too.
I will take another bike ride with the pooch today as she seems to really like it.
I will attempt a bake today, I will try Marydoll’s Macaroon Bars.
I am going to clear my wardrobe out today, I will bag all the clothes up and put in the garage for when the charity shop is open again. I am tempted to clear DH’s wardrobe out too, but that wouldn’t go down well!! He has clothes older than our children😂
Take care everyone and keep yourselves both mind and body active and stay safe❤️

Morning Mick and All.

A lovely sunny morning here in South Bucks on the first day of April.

I hope you are enjoying reruns of the cycling Mick I am watching the tennis from a year or two back and enjoying it.

DH is off to do a fresh veg shop at Sainsbury’s, then will scurry home to decontaminate.

The Internet in our house is in constant use.

See you tomorrow.

Good morning from east London, very fresh this morning with beautiful blue skies. One bin emptied, one more to go. We have had an advisory email from the local councillor to say things may not run as smoothly as we wish with the new system but fine by me so far. Also had an email for a virtual choir practice on Saturday for the event which is/was due to take place in July. I find it very hard to exercise indoors; never was an aerobics/gym person so need my walk every day. Tomato seedlings are through; I hate growing any away so perhaps I’ll have to cover the garden with pots, given the new lawn planned will not happen for a while. DP has been emptying/sorting the garden sheds; one of them started to fall to pieces as he took stuff out. The other one, he wants to repair. I call it the sitooterie, fat chance of sitting in it but I just love that work. Have a good day.

Good morning from a grey Northampton. Looks cold too. I have just had to put a blanket over my legs to stop one of the cats from nipping my ankles! A funny way to show affection! She is now sitting on my feet.

Did not sleep well; kept waking up from weird and scary dreams.

Hooray, I cut the grass yesterday! Front and back. And then let the cats out in the sunshine - they had a good play and explore, watched the birds and sunbathed. After about 40 minutes they'd had enough, and went and sat by the back door ready to go in. For those who are wondering, they are indoor pedigree cats, and only go out under supervision.

No plans for today other than the usual pottering and cleaning. Read the papers and my book, do the puzzles and crosswords.

Stay safe everyone.

Throwing away and love that word.

NotAGran55 Wed 01-Apr-20 07:35:13

Good morning everyone from blue skyed West Berkshire.

Long walk this morning planned - 5 miles along a recently created recreational track on a former railway line that was closed in the 60s . It runs between 2 villages .

Will then make some curried parsnip soup for lunch .

I have some plants to pot up for the patio which will entertain me for a while .

I then plan on doing some ‘how to knit’ 🧶 theory on YouTube and other sites recommend to me by some lovely ladies on another thread . Learning a new skill is good for the brain , will hopefully entertain me and be useful too .

Don’t forget ‘ 6 feet apart or 6 feet under ‘

Urmstongran Wed 01-Apr-20 07:38:54

My post wouldn’t send! The WiFi signal is weak in this bad weather. I was after brook!

Oh well. Try again (shorter version might work).

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s chilly and wet. It chucked it down yesterday. I’ll post a photo separately taken at noon yesterday.

1st April eh? I do ‘a pinch and a punch for you’ but with social distancing I couldn’t reach.

Hope Wednesday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone. x

Good morning all from a camp Glasgow, it's 5C here, damp, but the sun is just poking through.

Remember to keep your distance, when you go out, Mick and don't linger. Keep safe.

I'm not sure what I'm doing today, should I stay in or should I stay in?😉
I have a cardiac telephone appointment this morning, so I'm a bit restricted to what I do. A stroll round the garden before it, I think.

I got the letter yesterday, it was nearly as long as one of my novellas, all 9 doubled sided pages of it!
All joking aside, it was very thorough. It was just the thought of another 12 weeks, lockdown from Sunday, which upset me.
I will be stuck in on my 65th the birthday in May and probably DHs seventieth.☹️
I know it's for the best!
I thought, the weeks I've already done would have counted.☹️
There is an awful lot of baking going to get done. That is, if I manage to source some flour.
Feelingmyage, I posted the macaroon bar recipe last night, but I will post it here too.

I've just has a text early this morning from the heart hospital, asking If I have time to complete a questionaire, connected to the heart study, I'm part of, as I cannot come to the hospital.
Have I time???🤔

Keep safe everyone, if you venture out. Try to have the best day you can, in these dark times.
For those who are struggling, emotionally and mentally.💐

Nortsat Wed 01-Apr-20 07:45:08

Good morning from sunny east London.
I overdid my deep clean on Sunday and really hurt myself, so pain killers and rest for 2 weeks, according to my GP.
Of course I can’t go out, as I am shielding.

Plan to cook a gammon joint later, to freeze in ‘meal sized’ portions. The freezer is well stocked.

Good thoughts to all in Sick Bay and to those facing challenges (that’s probably all of us in one form or another). Have the best day possible 💐

DoraMarr Wed 01-Apr-20 07:46:41

Good morning from a slightly overcast Birmingham. No queues outside Aldi this morning- last week there were queues before seven o’clock.
I’m itching to go out, but am in quarantine until Sunday because of the cough/ other symptoms I had over the weekend. I’m expecting a food delivery from a local restaurant- no pre- cooked meals, just fresh fruit and vegetables, milk, eggs butter and a chicken, and a nice bottle of wine. Our writing group will be having a Zoom meeting later, which I am looking forward to.
The vacuum cleaner is still waiting in the hall and I think it has a very disapproving look about it, so I will have to use it this morning.
The best possible day to everyone!

Sark Wed 01-Apr-20 07:47:20

Good Morning everyone from a greyish Oxfordshire

Would love some of your soup NotaGran55 it sounds delicious.
Have got 2 thick pork chops out for later.

To make macaroon bars (makes 18-20):
• 1 large potato (100g after boiling)
• 400-500g icing sugar
• 2-3 drops vanilla extract
• 300g dark chocolate
• 100g dessicated coconut

Boil the potato until soft. Drain, measure out 100g, then mash until there are no lumps, and leave until cold.
Put the cold mashed potato, vanilla extract and 100g of icing sugar in a bowl. Mix well – the potato might seem very dry, but it will change into a very thick, sticky paste. Keep adding the icing sugar, 100g at a time, mixing well after each addition, until you have a stiff white fondant.
Line a tray with greaseproof paper, put the fondant in the tray, and press flat. Cover with cling film and leave in the freezer for an hour.
In the meantime, toast the coconut in the oven – spread thinly on a large baking sheet and cook in the oven at 150°C (300°F) for around 5 minutes until the coconut is just golden. Watch it carefully – it can burn very easily. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
Remove the fondant from the freezer. Cut into bars (mine were finger length and just wider than finger width).
Melt the chocolate in a bowl above a pan of barely simmering water. Once the chocolate is melted and smooth, dip each piece of the sugar paste into the chocolate, then roll in the coconut. Transfer to a sheet of greasproof paper and allow to set.

Of course you can adjust the amounts.
Good luck with another addictive confectionary.😁

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Temperature dropped below freezing overnight, so will be wrapping up before venturing out for a medicinal walk later.
Beef stew and dumplings later. Sticking to our planned menu so no shopping needed until Friday.

Mapleleaf Wed 01-Apr-20 07:58:22

Good morning all,

It’s very grey and cool here this morning but the breeze looks to have stopped.

Managed to collect both prescriptions yesterday, hoping to avoid more trips, only to be told that some of DH medication is unavailable so need to ring later this am to see if they’ve sourced it and if so, it will be another trip, another queue, to collect it ☹️. Here’s me trying to avoid unnecessary trips, but thwarted. Oh well..

Today, other than perhaps collecting rest of DH prescription, I plan a walk around the village, some ironing, meal prep and read my book.

Well, keep safe everyone and here’s some 💐 to cheer you.

Good Morning Mick and everyone from East London. Woke up to a beautiful bright but cold morning . I will tackle the garden again this morning , got very cold out there yesterday afternoon ,but a good excuse for a crumpet for tea !
DD popping over to collect some old board games to entertain the GC . I will hand over a safe distance , missing them all terribly .we should have all been off to Portugal for Easter on Friday 😐

Lins1066 Wed 01-Apr-20 08:02:36

Good Morning Mick and all. Feels cold here on the S Welsh coast.
DS managed to get a Tesco delivery for us today, for which we are very grateful. Another day of pottering here and I will make some soup later.
Went for a walk later yesterday afternoon and it was so quiet. I am in bed with a cup of tea and the paper, no rush to get up.
Avoiding the news bulletins and feel much better for it. Trying to take pleasure and comfort in the little things.
Hope everyone will have the best day they can. xx

Good morning, it's a grey day here in Cheshire. Our son skyped us yesterday teatime. The children were chasing each other around the kitchen and the two year old was tipping toys out and scatteting them all over the floor with glee. Oh dear, you could feel his dad's frustration/impatience, just watching them! They then started jumping on each other and generally being a bit lively (naughty!) From the look on my son's face, I think it had been a long day! Although I love my DGC to bits, I don't envy their parents trying to keep them amused, they must be going stir crazy. Presume the minute the isolation is over, they will be hotfooting it to either us or the other GPs, dropping the children off, then disappearing for a long time!

Greyduster Wed 01-Apr-20 08:07:27

Good morning Michael and all GNs. A grey old day in South Yorkshire. We had a decent walk out yesterday, taking a route part of which was new to us, and not busy. I think we will give it a miss today though and get on with the spring cleaning. I have also promised DH some coconut tarts, which is fine because the only fat is in the pastry and I’m trying to conserve my stock of baking margarine. Small worries in such trying times. Have the best day you can, folks!
