Forgetting this useful thing

Only yesterday or the day before someone posted a poem. I can remember it was at the bottom of the page, but I can't remember which thread it was on. Someone postulated that it might be a Pam Ayres oeuvre.

I didn't think to bookmark it (I never do. Anyway, how do I find something I've bookmarked?)

I wanted to forward it to some friends but now I can't find it. Can anyone help?

Your 'bookmarks' are under the icon of an open book. On an iPad it's on the top bar on the left together with your history.
Or, search Pam Ayres poem.

Or you could search your history and that might ring a bell.

It might be me!

I can't find the original thread where I posted it, but is this the poem JackyB?

T’was a month before Christmas,
And all through the town,
People wore masks,
That covered their frown.

The frown had begun
Way back in the Spring,
When a global pandemic
Changed everything.

They called it corona,
But unlike the beer,
It didn’t bring good times,
It didn’t bring cheer.

Contagious and deadly,
This virus spread fast,
Like a wildfire that starts
When fuelled by gas.

Airplanes were grounded,
Travel was banned.
Borders were closed
Across air, sea and land.

As the world entered lockdown
To flatten the curve,
The economy halted,
And folks lost their verve.

From March to July
We rode the first wave,
People stayed home,
They tried to behave.

When summer emerged
The lockdown was lifted.
But away from caution,
Many folks drifted.

Now it’s November
And cases are spiking,
Wave two has arrived,
Much to our disliking.

Frontline workers,
Doctors and nurses,
Try to save people,
From riding in hearses.

This virus is awful,
This COVID-19.
There isn’t a cure.
There is no vaccine.
.
It’s true that this year
Has had sadness a plenty,
We’ll never forget
The year 2020.

And just ‘round the corner -
The holiday season,
But why be merry?
Is there even one reason?

To decorate the house
And put up the tree,
When no one will see it,
No-one but me.

But outside my window
The snow gently falls,
And I think to myself,
Let’s deck the halls!

So, I gather the ribbon,
The garland and bows,
As I play those old carols,
My happiness grows.

Christmas ain’t cancelled
And neither is hope.
If we lean on each other,
I know we can cope.

That's brilliant, it has really cheered me up on a cold wet dismal day when I am struggling to find any Christmas spirit thankyou!!

Elegran Fri 04-Dec-20 17:38:54

JackyB Put a bit that you can remember from it into the search box at the top of the page. You can sort it by date, which ought to put yesterday's posts at the top.

A year when the bin went out more than we did.

Merry Christmask.

JackyB, was this the one?

Yes that was it, Elliane. Of course: The night before Christmas. Now you say it... How could I search for anything - it's 2020, I have no idea what I read yesterday!

I wanted to post it in our WhatsApp group in response to the one Grannynannywanny just posted. I received that this morning. Genius!

Missfoodlove haven't looked at your link yet but I don't think John Betjeman would be easily confused with Pam Ayres. Anyway, if I have inadvertently started a poetry thread, tant mieux !

I meant search in the GN search box.

Elegran Sat 05-Dec-20 09:12:53

Jacky* If you can remember even a few words of the poem you can type them into the Gransnet searchbox, select the magnifying glass, and have it search through past posts for those few words. You don't need to know the name of it.
