Just noticed some person hijacking a thread, . I would never give them the pleasure of a response.

Me being daft but I ve no idea what this refers to
Very cryptic

Real life conversations sometimes get hijacked too, don't they? It can be a bit annoying, but the same tactics work (ignore the hijacker and return pointedly to the original topic).

No idea what this means. In the word of one of our politicians, ‘please explain’.

It means that, for instance, if OP is asking for help about her difficult husband, and I get onto her post and start telling everyone about my own husband and asking for help with my situation. That's hijacking a post.

Surely “hijacking a thread” could also be described as natural development of conversation?

Witzend Sun 18-Apr-21 07:04:08

My first thoughts were the sort of thread where someone manages to turn it into another moan about either Brexit or Boris, possibly both.

Or Meghan
. Or nicola sturgeon.

Maybe we should start a thread where your post must have nothing to do with the ones before it. The randomly unrelated thread.

If I was in the OP's position I might have taken that to mean that it wasn't only me in that situation and taken comfort from that.

Look at the ‘Jeramy Vine’ thread.

Look at the ‘Jeramy Vine’ thread.

A very good example!!!

I saw that the MM detractors had managed to get their spoke in. This happens in normal conversation as well when someone feels strongly about an issue, they manage to bring it into every conversation.

Sounds fun! I bet it would prove quite hard to do.

I’m up for that. Far more interesting than page after page saying exactly the same thing.

M0nica Sun 18-Apr-21 08:39:43

Froglady I am inclined to agree with you.

simtib Sun 18-Apr-21 08:44:57

I think I may have just hijacked a thread about not hijacking threads. I think I better make a discrete exit and go for a walk.

M0nica Sun 18-Apr-21 08:44:59

I have just been on the JV thread and I see what you mean by hijacking.

Sparkling. give us a clue?

Sara1954 Sun 18-Apr-21 08:56:46

Can’t see the harm, that’s how conversations evolve, I agree with Froglady

Galaxy Sun 18-Apr-21 08:58:03

Yes it's how conversations work. I am afraid no one has control over a thread.

Read my post @08.15.

MerylStreep Sun 18-Apr-21 09:02:35

Good job it’s Sunday ?. Otherwise this would be deleted as we/me are talking about another thread.

Galaxy Sun 18-Apr-21 09:06:40

Well yes and there are good reasons for that.

nanna8 Sun 18-Apr-21 09:09:22

Uh oh, my post has gone into the ether. Maybe the gremlins hi jacked it ? I was supporting the idea of simtib. Reckon it would be great.
