Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company...

Welcome. Make yourselves comfortable and let us share our celebrations and tribulations. It's what we do best.

flowers wine brew cupcake and a multitude of virtual hugs.

Thank you for opening the kitchen Soop. I've had strawberries and ice cream. Some left over.

Jaxjacky Sun 04-Jul-21 18:50:54

Oh, new kitchen, I’m honoured.
Stunning piece for your sitting room soop a lovely statement from the holiday. annesixty, how lovely to hear you practically rejuvenated, you sound quite skittish, I hear laughter.
Imogen’s pain kicked in last evening, I guess the hospital drugs had worn off, DD keeping her off school tomorrow as Imogen is worried about it getting knocked. She may be coming here if one of DD’s friend can’t have her, friend breeds Bengal cats, far more interesting than Grandma’s house!
A quiet day here with rain on and off, I try to keep the day for us as MrJ works most weeks, so it’s our day to bumble about.
Have a pleasant evening all (missing Urmstongran).
Love to Panache.

Hello soop and Mr s as well of course. I’ve only just managed to catch up with the old kitchen and am delighted to catch you while you’re still here today. The new starry * kitchen is as wonderful as ever. I shall claim a chair by the window and wait to see who else arrives. smile

dustyangel Sun 04-Jul-21 18:54:49

Forgot to say how much I enjoyed your photos. We have a pair of jays visiting but my photographs have to be taken through the window as they are very nervous. I think they are a pair. Mrs Jay looks somewhat more harassed than Mr Jay.

dustyangel Sun 04-Jul-21 18:58:18

Good job I claimed that chair. Faster typists than I are already here. 🤗

Grandmabatty Sun 04-Jul-21 19:28:48

JaxJacky keeping Imogen off school sounds like the best plan. She can take things easy. I'm having a glass or three of white wine and some Ritz crackers. There has been thunder and lightning here off and on all day and lots of rain so I'm being lazy. Have a good evening all.

Charleygirl5 Sun 04-Jul-21 19:36:12

I almost forgot we were on the move- I must pay attention.

Doodle Sun 04-Jul-21 19:45:50

Wot another new kitchen! Coming thick and fast these days.
annsixty you’re not the only one who thought soop’s lovely present was 6’ wide. 😀. Beautiful present soop how thoughtful of Mr Soop
jaxjacky I do hope your DGD isn’t in too much pain. Poor girl.
I bring a fruit cake. The only cake I can make actually. It’s huge so plenty to go round if anyone wants a slice,
The new chairs look nice soop. Very comfortable. I may just sit and rest a while and see who pops in, 😊

Grannmarie Sun 04-Jul-21 19:49:28

Happy new kitchen! I have roast chicken leftovers, enough for sandwiches.

Like Grandmabatty, I have opened the white wine, getting ready for The Handmaid's Tale at 9pm.

Jaxjacky, your DD is a wise woman, a few days at home, or at Gran's, will give Imogen's wound a good chance to develop the healing process.

Good evening to all lovely Kitchen people.

I’ve seen a few of these posts and not taken any notice until tonight when I delved further. Can anyone join in? If so it been an emotional few days. One of my good friends died Friday night. She had been gravely ill for a matter of weeks, first lung cancer then it spread to her brain. I’m told by her husband that they were shocked at the speed it took hold. She was at home with her family and it was peaceful. I hadn’t seen her since before the first lockdown. As a friendship group we’ve been looking at pictures and sharing memories. The one thing about her was she was always smiling, happy and that was infectious.
That and I move house tomorrow. The 5th time in 3 years, long complicated story. I hope this will be the last for a while. Thank you x

Apologies if this is not the right thread for this 🙁

Jaxjacky Sun 04-Jul-21 20:08:33

Mattsmum2 this is entirely the right thread, how very traumatic for you, I can’t imagine, but remember that vivacious lady. Look after yourself this evening too and good luck tomorrow 💐.

Doodle Sun 04-Jul-21 20:10:42

Welcome mattsmum2. So sorry about your friend. It must have come as a shock to you all.

A very warm welcome mattsmum and so sorry to hear about your dear friend, how sad. I hope your house move goes well tomorrow and please pop back here to let us know how it goes

Hellogirl1 Sun 04-Jul-21 21:05:10

Sorry to hear about your friend Mattsmum, but welcome to Soop`s kitchen, alive with friendly, comforting folk.
Soop, what`s that shade of paint on the walls? It`s a very pretty colour. And these chairs are soooooo comfy, I`m glad I got one looking out onto your beach.
Tomorrow we have a lady called Sally coming to cut our toenails. About time too, mine are starting to look like something out of a horror film! Next job then will be to see if the hairdresser can come and sort out my dreadful mop.

Blossoming Sun 04-Jul-21 21:16:30

Welcome Mattsmum to this warm and friendly kitchen where the kettle’s always on and cakes are freely available. So sorry for your loss, you are in the right place for a listening ear and a comforting word.

I have chocolate brownies to share fellow kitcheners, help yourselves.

Mattsmum2 Sun 04-Jul-21 21:21:12

I’m in tears of joy reading your words. ❤️

Grandmafrench Sun 04-Jul-21 21:28:36

Hello lovely Kitchen peeps. How are you all this evening?
Nice to be in yet another new Kitchen. Not sure how we're going to pay for all the frills, furbelows and paint for all these refurbishments, but what the hell. YOLO, or whatever it is the kids say!

Lovely to hear of your socialising with a friend, Ann. However it tired you out since you have become (like all of us) unused to company and conversation for any length of time, you really should do it again - or something like it. Something easy which requires very little effort, but where you can relax, be yourself and just catch up on the world again. I've been trying to do that and it honestly still feels weird, but I'm not going to stop. We have to live our lives now, albeit with some caution, and catch up with all those people and things we love and have missed.

So sad to hear of your bad times, Mattsmum. Welcome to this lovely thread which will be so pleased to have you as a 'member'. Hope you will always be able to remember your friend as that happy person you describe. She'd have wanted that for you all, I'm sure. Make sure you take care of yourself after two great upheavals in your life - tomorrow's being the other one. Moving house is very stressful, so get enough rest and take the view, if you can, that it's going to work out just fine and you'll be happy. We'll keep fingers crossed for you that it all goes well tomorrow and do let us know how you are, when you can.

Loved the photographs of your Highland Fling, Soop. What a gorgeous place - I honestly expected that the Queen might feature in the background when I looked up the area in the Hotel photos. So beautiful and you had good weather as well. That should set you up for, well, at least another month or so - or until you've located Mr Soop's magic moneybox and are able to go off again.

Very disappointed to hear that little Toby has to have surgery. However, having anything like that corrected at such a very young age is obviously the best plan and it's good to hear that his parents are sounding positive and hopeful that the little darling will be good as new very soon.

GrandmaB Ritz crackers AND white wine? Well, you know how to have a good time, I'll give you that. A taking it easy Sunday should set you up for another busy week, fit to take on the world and little GS again. Take care of your wrist, though.

Fancied the best chair, dusty? I'm sure it's better than bagging the best sun loungers around the pool, but you do sound as if you're well practised! Jax hope that Imogen does well mentally over the next few days, that her spirits will lift again along with the pain, and that she'll not feel that the summer is going to be a disaster. Good to hear that she's getting the best treatment.

Hi Charly, hope you're well, you too brook and hi and how do you do to Granmarie and I know it's another thread, but honestly kitty how lovely is your gravel garden. You must have a whole handful of green thumbs! Really pretty photos of your hard work.

Had a good Sunday, Doodle? Hope you (and Mr D) have recovered from your Friday night knees up and tribute to dear Jet. Susan know you're around somewhere - hope the baptism went wonderfully and that Superman triumphed in the end.

If you're about, Urms, let us have word that you're o.k. One line would be enough and followed by Strictly No Pestering from the Kitchen. Promise. x

Nighty night all, keep safe.
Almighty hugs from French France and me, especially for you dear Panache

mamaa Sun 04-Jul-21 21:35:07

Good Evening dear kitcheners, I bring the remains ( about half) of my M+S Colin the Caterpillar birthday cake.
21 again Birthday not til tomorrow but had the cake today so our grandchildren could come round with Mum and Dad to have some as it’s a schoolday tomorrow here in England.
Not sure what to do on the day as weather forecast very unseasonal for early July. Did fancy lunch alfresco at a seafront restaurant but probably not do that if it’s going to be cold and wet!
Best wishes to all, I’m off for a cheeky Sauv blanc😉
flowers for any who’d like some for whatever reason x

Yiayia4 Sun 04-Jul-21 21:43:56
