Hopelessly out of date?

I wonder if I am! A friend recommended lodges for a short break. Very little change from £1,000 for 3 nights.

Maybe this is just what things cost nowadays.

How many does the lodge sleep? What facilities does it offer?
What would the cost per head be?

Lodge holidays can be quite expensive. It also depends on when you are looking at going. I think they can work out cheaper with the more people go. Also shop around you can sometimes find last minute deals.

We saw some lodges recently for that price but when we read further they sleep 7-8, so not so bad. Certainly wouldn't pay that for 3 nights hmm. Look at cottages instead - much cheaper than that. Thankfully the prices of the ones we use regularly have come down a bit since the pandemic.

Depends on where and when. Without that detail and more info about faccilities on site. It is impossible to tell.

Happy to oblige, Forest of Bowland with a hot tub for 2 people.

Thanks.

For 2 of us using Airbnb we have a target of £100 a night, the most weve paid is £150 but that is Switzerland. Often £80 or so gets a roomy apartment, if you stay 3 nights, but not in the main holiday season,

I am constantly amazed by how much money some people spend on holidays.

Maybe we'renot so poor as we think we are. But I am, I couldn't afford this so I would do some homework to find a better deal and be willing to compromise on things you don't need.

I wonder if you accidentally picked a school holiday date?
I just looked and there are many options for lodges with hot tubs at a fraction of that price.

Alternatively, maybe it was a very exclusive venue?
The lodge my son was offered when he booked his wedding venue was £800 a night!

It sounds a bit pricey to me. I am paying that kind of money for 7 nights in Daymer Bay next week. The lodge style property (3 beds), not on a site, doesn't have a hot tub, but it has a sun deck, a heated outside shower to rinse off sea water and it accepts dogs!

Do take your sun cream 😁
I got very burnt there years ago but I was young and foolish!

zakouma66 it does sound rather pricey
I'd want an exclusive sea view for that money, but it's a long way to the coast.

I have been looking at cottages for 3 night stay. After looking at a number of them it dawned on me the price for 3 nights is exactly the same as for 7 nights. Presumably they can then rent out the other 4 nights for the cost of 7 nights. Good wheeze

Callistemon21 Thu 18-Apr-24 16:03:01

Have you booked already? Can you cancel?

These are cheaper and look similar to what you are after:

Roseanne. We love Daymer Bay. Fond memories of sitting on the beach with fantastic Cornish Pasties.

What is the matter with my tablet and predictive text at the moment. Sorry Joseann.

PaperMonster Thu 18-Apr-24 19:10:20

Have you tried Ribblesdale Park?

Oh I love Daymer Bay! We used to go there because it has always been dog friendly. Will you go to see John Betjemans grave at the church in the sand ( or was in the sand years ago).

HousePlantQueen Thu 18-Apr-24 19:30:46

I have just paid in excess of £800 for a 3 bed rental, for 3 nights. But it is walking distance of the best beach in England and is in North Norfolk. Maybe I will bump into GSM who lives in the area I believe?

AmberSpyglass Thu 18-Apr-24 19:35:37

I just paid £280 for five nights in a seaside cottage in June - now I’m realising what a bargain that is!

zakouma66 Thu 18-Apr-24 19:40:45

Wow, Amber, thats a great bargain.

M0nica Thu 18-Apr-24 19:43:29

keepingquiet it is a a question of what we cchoose to spend our money on.

Some people spend a lot of money on cars, others on their houses, other's still on holidays. We all make our choices and my choices would not be yours and vice versa.
