Good Morning Friday 17th April 2026
(5 Posts)Good morning from Cornwall. No idea what the weather is doing yet. Our mobile phone signals locally have been rubbish for a few days but have suddenly improved so I'm using it as an opportunity to post this.
An in the process off giving up my allotment for a variety of reasons. The recent storm has wrecked the greenhouse so I'm finding ways of getting rid of a lot of broken glass. I don’t want to leave it for the next tenant. I'm also helping my arty daughter-in-law to move house. After five years on the council list she's got the keys to a sweet bungalow in a town centre under trees, for half the rent she's been paying. I've been helping her source carpets and white goods and other furniture.
Today my landlord and I will be clambering into the wild wood above my flat to look at the big tree that came down in the storm and which is lying halfway across another taller tree. Thankfully it's not my problem! Then I must venture back to my allotment to parcel up more broken glass.
Good morning from Malta where a cloudy start is forecast, clearing later with a high of 23°C.
Yesterday I did a lot of laundry, stripped the bed and was pleased to get it all hung outside to dry. Also steam mopped the floors.
I then had such awful backache, which radiated round to my lower abdomen, that I lay on the sheetless bed and, despite heaven knows how many decibels of noise from the diggers outside, I slept for two hours.
When I awoke the rain was chucking it down so my laundry was wetter than when I put it out! I rescued the sheets and put them in the dryer, the rest is still on the line.
Had my two treasures from 5 until 8 as DD3 had her degree course and her DH is away for a few days.
They were absolutely sweet, arrived in their pjs having been to their swimming lesson with DGS2 proudly announcing he can now swim on his own!
I enjoyed every minute of them and lots of cuddles were given and received. DGS1 fell asleep before his mum arrived to collect them after which I had a sandwich and some Greek yoghurt, watched a bit of mindless tv and went to bed.
I’ve got Milo dog today so will take him for a walk before I go to my hair appointment at noon. I hope the noise from the roadworks won’t upset him. It’s certainly upsetting me!😫
Wishing you all a good day, thoughts always with those who are struggling.☀️
Good morning from a dry Bristol. It’s this “not sure if I’m hot or cold” weather atm especially with a vicious wind, but it’s dry.
I was wiped out yesterday; I’d had a rotten night then decided to rearrange dust. As usual, I got sidetracked and did all sorts of things as well, before my tai-chi class.
I had to go into the church after the class and left my handbag in the hall; fortunately, I got to it before the ladies decided how to get it back to me…
ASI had slept very badly the night before, I had planned on napping. Naturally, my plan was thwarted. My helper at the FAB cafe, who I love to bits, but is one of the scattiest people I know, came with a bunch of flowers as a large birthday present. Then a sweet resident, who was told by her son to “downsize”- I think he meant “Swedish death clean” - came to give me some tablecloths for the church.
Then a sweet tea towels were washed, dried and ironed for the church kitchens, the blooming pennants were all sewn, etc. I know I have cut out over 200pennants, but have calculated that I must have assembled nearly 1000 pennants on their tapes… enough. I shall refuse to sew another.
This morning, I’m going to put the new fabric on the sound boards in the hall then go to the (not) WI book group…
Thoughts for the poorly, angry, sad, cheerful posters.
Enjoy what we have left of spring; Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning from Sheffield
I was rudely awoken by the Biffa bin wagon emptying bins from the business next door at 4:30. I am on my 2nd cup of tea now just thinking about getting up for the Friday big clean up.
The family came for tea and we had a lovely time chatting
The dog situation is really stressing my daughter.
The owners aren’t really addressing how serious the situation is. The dog is still snappy and bad tempered.
My daughter and DSIL refuse to see them with the dog, they won’t leave it at home so that family relationship, which was close is in tatters.
My DD isn’t sleeping she is so stressed
I think they’re hoping for a discussion with them this weekend
Well time to get up and at it
Take care everyone
