Good morning from a dry, dawning Bristol. The birds are singing and it promises to be another beautiful day (albeit with that wretched wind),
Yesterday afternoon was every bit as difficult as expected. Having called the closing WI meeting, the federation duo did nothing except glower at us, be very unpleasant, speak to no one except to be rude and left without saying anything.
We were staggered at the size of attendance, were not told of the voting numbers (despite many requests for explanation), just the result. The membership had decided to suspend our WI with immediate effect. No % no numbers given…
It was interesting how the angry the women were towards the organisation, but the federation ladies took it personally and it became playground bullying. All very sad.
Today, I’m baking and sewing and generally not seeing or speaking to anyone as usual for a Tuesday.
May all your mountains be levelled, enjoy the kind weather.

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 27°C.

I stayed in yesterday and got all my windows cleaned inside and out. I also lifted out all the insect screens and gave them a good blast with the jet washer.

The road works were a lot quieter as the digging is finished so they were laying pipes and filling in the trenches with concrete.

I’ve got the boys this afternoon so DD3 can get on with assignments for her course.

I have not slept well, lost count of the times I woke. I’ve been trying to drink more water but the result is frequent trips to the bathroom. 😏

grandMattie I’m sorry you’ve had such a miserable experience regarding the WI. What a pity. 😞

On a brighter note I was very happy to see Carlos Alcaraz won the Laureus Sportsman of the Year award. Very well deserved.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Good Morning from Durham. It’s grey and murky here, forecast better later, but still cool. My heating has kicked in.

I’ve had a sudden change of plans, as my friend has had to rearrange meeting until Thursday, so I might take myself off somewhere for the day. I do so very infrequently - probably not since York Christmas Market last year with DD.

I hope our poorlies and their carers have a better day.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from Wiltshire after a rubbish night.

School pickup yesterday. The GCs were full of stories of their trip to Longleat. They sternly said they were not allowed out of the car while driving through the lion enclosure - they also saw a car being relieved of a windscreen wiper by a monkey. And they’d seen an anaconda longer than their (rather large) car. They were fairly hard work as they started fighting almost as soon as we were indoors. GS2 wanted an apple. He took a couple of bites and threw it in the kitchen bin. Not the first time he’s done this and DH (and I) were very cross with him. GD3 said he does this all the time at home. They get away with so much. AWBU?

Belated Birthday greetings BlueSapphire. I hope you had a lovely day. 🍾🎂. I can’t believe a year has gone past since we met up with Bellasnana in Malta. I often don’t read the GM thread until the evening.

I hope all the poorly husbands are doing better. I really feel for their wives. Hope Madeleine and Pantglas are back soon.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where I hope the weather will be an improvement on yesterday’s sunshine and showers.

Our good friend came round yesterday to jet wash our patio area having sprayed ita couple of weeks ago with some sort of cleaning fluid. It has come up a treat, the colours of the stones look great. His kindness is much appreciated.

DH has an appointment at the orthopaedic clinic today, hopefully they will be happy with his progress seven weeks on from his knee replacement surgery.

My usual voluntary shift in the shop today then yarn group this evening.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is six degrees but feels colder. Supposed to be a bright dry day today.

Yesterday I had another session with the chiropractor who is very thorough. I have more confidence in her than I had in the NHS physios, and I think she may have the answer to my troublesome hip but it’s not going to be a five minute job.

Today I have an empty as the school has mock SATS going on and have suggested that as space will be at a premium, I have the day off rather than be crammed into some unsuitable location. I’ll do laundry this morning and then have a walk around our country park this afternoon and take my camera (which will give me an excuse to stand still occasionally!).

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and raining. GrandMattie such a sad end to your organisation. Bellasnana any chance of a nap for you?
Yesterday was a good day. The boys were on good form and well behaved. Dgs2 was very happy to be back at nursery. Lots of drawing happening afterwards. I did half an hour tidying in the school library too. Then an early night for me.
Today I'll bring them back to my house for breakfast- honey nut flakes and a croissant for dgs1 and chocolate chip pancakes for dgs2. Then I'll take them to school. Once I've dropped them off, I will tidy the kitchen, a neverending task. I'm not sure what else I will do till I pick the boys up. Some pottering i think. I will make a slow cooker pot of mince and vegetables which will do me a couple of days. Have a good day all

Kind thoughts to all.

Good morning from Sheffield

I am meeting a friend for coffee this morning. Actually it’s a banana milk shake from McDonald’s . A bit of a guilty pleasure

I have a lady who comes to my home who does massages at 12.
Last year she tragically lost her husband in a traffic accident. They had just got married and have a small child. So terrible . This will be the first time I have seen her since then. She started work again in school time but I worked full time so it was difficult to see her. Now I work part time I can see her. She does a proper Swedish massage

I then have WI this evening. We have a houseplant doctor giving us a talk.

Take care everyoneflowers

Thank you, batty. We had the whole programme ready for the WI year, so apart from missing April, we are starting a new independent group, identical to WI, with a very keen membership, on the same day, in the same venue!
What was so sad was the whole silly business and the behaviour of the federation officials, and the National organisation. I know many of other Avon federations are being suspended and understand the this rebellion is sadly nationwide.

Grandmabatty Tue 21-Apr-26 06:42:21

GrandMattie good for you!

Good morning from a sunny, bright S E Essex.

It was lovely to catch up with Gingster yesterday, though we did miss Sar53.

The Imp is downstairs and full of beans, playing with LEGO, need to sort out his breakfast when he makes up his mind 🤷‍♀️

Pilates this morning, and then I have a few things to sort out here.

What a palaver grandMattie so much unnecessary upset.
Wishing you all a pleasant day 🙋‍♀️
