Blue badge renewal

DD2 applied online at the beginning of April to renew hers, enclosing all the relevant information needed and has been turned down! Thankfully, her current badge doesn’t expire until 30/6, so enough time for her appeal and the decision to be overturned.

Processing blue badges was part of my role when I worked. The 12 weeks seems to be the general quote for processing times and really there to cover for times when applications come in thick and fast and is deemed as 'managing people's expectations'. Whenever assessing an application which had insufficient information, I, and colleagues, would try to contact the applicant by phone first but failing that would email them for further /missing information. Better to have too much info rather than too little. Some authorities may do things slightly differently though and reject on too little info which I think is wrong and unfair. If you feel you may not have given enough info you could always email them with any extra info or evidence to be support your application. Good luck.

I have done it recently for DH, we had it back within two weeks possibly 10 days, I found the process surprisingly easy tbh as long as you have all the required information to hand, it didn't say at the start what into was required so as I was going through the questions I was up and down getting what was required , but apart from that ok. The funny thing was the next day I received and email from our local council to remind us to renew it and it had a list of the information I needed 🙄. I think it might take longer if it is a first application.

His expires mid June. I always thought that 6 weeks was the usual processing time. We may have to wait longer than this.
I didn’t realise that you could appeal as his disability is unable to improve.

DD2’s disability is obvious - as obvious as the wheelchair she uses 24/7 since she was 12 and the necessary hand controls in her Motability car! As you can tell, I’m not amused, even if it is only an admin error. She has nothing else left to submit, other than herself.
No phone call from them 62Granny but she rang them and was told to appeal online. That was a couple of weeks ago and heard nothing yet.
