Yes finally a period of decent weather!
Today is the shop and cleaning downstairs and some gardening.
Tomorrow is upstairs and gardening and Saturday is enjoying the garden with my book after an hour or two of weeding and planting.
I cannot wait to sit outside, eat outside and wear shorts, I am so excited!
Are you planning on a weekend outdoors?

We're having friends and neighbours round on Saturday for a BBQ; our first one this year.

Anything that needs doing including the weekly food shop will be finished by tomorrow lunch time and then like you Sago I'll be outside in my shorts with a book enjoying this welcome and long awaited spell of wonderful sunshine.

Oh to be able to wear shorts, those days have long gone but I shall hunt out the cropped trousers and the tee shirts and sit on the patio which is full of weeds and pretend it isn’t.

Fingers crossed, but it’s still thick, long trousers and a long sleeved fleece top for me today. I’m hoping for better next week.

Digging out the big shade from the shed today. Going to do a bit of gardening before it gets too hot during the next few days. Plant my dahlias now the nights are above 10c - they have been patiently waiting in the greenhouse since beginning of March.

But mostly sit and enjoy. Bought a chicken to spatchcock and barbecue tomorrow.

Might go to NT Nymans today to look at the roses and have a picnic.

We are in our 80s now and DH with heart condition does feel the heat, particularly when it gets above 30c. So we’ve just purchase a AC unit for the living room, which faces north. We have struggled in the past when the heat gets excessive, and they are forecasting the possibility of real heat this summer because of El Niño.
But saying all that -

I love the summer!!

Not looking forward to it, anything over 18/19 degrees is uncomfortable to me. I shall stay indoors.
My partner will be outside in it as much as he can, he loves the heat.

Hope all you sun worshipers enjoy yourselves!

Oh, I really hope so. Family holiday next week for 11 of us. Ages 94 down to 5 so good weather would be the icing on the cake.

It's still raining here but I'm ever hopeful.
I have very few Summer clothes as here in Scotland " you always need a cardigan"
I'm being taken out on Sunday for tea for a treat somewhere so that should be lovely. I have a sunhat.

All be careful, though. I have had a few skin cancers removed from my nose. I don’t sunbathe, this was from walking around everyday without sunscreen. I know the sun is fierce in Australia but I would also say that my mum ,who lived in the UK all her life, also got them on her eyelids because she used to go to sleep in a deckchair in her garden in a London suburb.

I have very fair skin and have very rarely sat in the sun but last year I developed a spot on my nose which was precancerous.
It was treated with very effective but very painful chemotherapy cream. So yes, get that Factor 50 ready and make sure you use it.

I'm at last going to buy summer bedding plants now. The frost at night has been a darned nuisance, but hopefully is over now.

I've got lots of factor 50 ready as I use it all year around due to skin cancers.

Just got mine in pots and tubs yesterday, they made it through the night😃
Also got tomatoes out there growing now and am looking forward to some lovely warm weather.
Got some wine in the fridge and ice cream in the freezer 😋

henetha Thu 21-May-26 10:09:50

Oh there is hope then, as yours have survived the night.
I might pop to a garden centre today then.... grin.
And get some ice cream as well...
