Going off alcohol

I've just slowly completely gone off alcohol. I don't understand it really. I just don't fancy a glass of wine, I couldn't finish a G&T recently and the thought of champagne is awful.
Is this a typical ageing thing or is it just me? I don't miss it. I like water and various non alcoholic drinks. I'm sure it's probably a good thing but not something I ever expected to happen.

Never been much of a drinker but loved a port and lemon. Enjoyed a occasional glass of wine but like you nit fussed now.

I always enjoyed a glass of wine while cooking dinner, then another after dinner. But I never think about it anymore, not even sure when I last drank any alcohol!

Same here Aveline! I used to enjoy a glass of white wine at around 6pm, and the occasional glass of Prosecco if out for a meal but I’ve completely gone off it as well.

I had a small glass of Prosecco on Christmas Day and that was the last time alcohol passed my lips! Another of life’s little pleasures gone!😅

Phew. It's not just me then.

I enjoy a glass of red wine - especially with some foods - but that’s about the only thing I drink regularly. When I’m out, I drink tonic water and even at home will mostly eschew the gin and just have the tonic. Never drink beer now, though I used to really enjoy a glass of Stella or Guinness. With me, I think it stems from not having anyone to enjoy a drink with anymore.

Yes me too. I do enjoy a cold zero alcohol Guinness in the hot weather sitting in the garden in the evening. But very rarely drink anything else....and I used to enjoy a G&T, red wine, white wine and champagne/prosecco/cava. Years ago a martini or cinzano, whisky and soda, brandy and soda and with coffee a cointreau or grand marnier.

How my life has changed. Not drunk any of those for years. Never mind I did enjoy them.

I must be bucking the trend.
Although ,when off colour I do go off alcohol but thankfully that is not often.
I love a Cocktail, G&T, red wine, white wine, malt whiskey and brandy, fortunately not all on the same night.
I was out for a celebratory meal last night and had a Cocktail on arrival, a glass of Rioja with my steak and an Espresso Martini to finish off the evening, all really enjoyed.

I have done the same with meat.
Only eat about half of what I used to.

I presume it is an age thing.

I know someone who can no longer eat as much fruit and veg[dont ask what it does to her].
She is quite elderly.

I told her I think her body has had enough of it. It has reached it's limit of the amount of fruit and veg.it can take.

That's my opinion.

Only occasional half glass of wine now and DH on non alcoholic beer. Definitely an age thing with him I was never much of a drinker anyway.

My husband has stopped having wine with dinner now. He just doesn’t fancy it. I still like a glass but if we have a bottle it ends up getting chucked after a couple of days . Sometimes I can use the rest in sauces etc but not always. I think your body tells you what it wants for health !

I'm with UTBB. I don't drink much but like a glass of rosé or two while cooking.

The only time I couldn’t abide alcohol was when I was pregnant. I assume not the case for you Aveline!
At first I didn’t know I was pregnant, but I couldn’t even be in a room where alcohol was being served.
I do like a nice chilled white or Rose.

I love alcohol and am certainly not going off it. For me best enjoyed with friends and even better with friends, family at an outside occasion. Love champagne, prosecco, crémant, red wine G'nT , most cocktails, so I'm not a cheap date wine

I have not drunk at all since I was about 30. It just made me sick!
