Good morning from a dry, overcast Bristol. I am very grateful for the relative coolness of the nights. How we need rain! The poor farmers…
Enjoy your little jaunt to Mallorca, bellas; no doubt your treasures will enjoy the holiday with you.
I baked like crazy in the morning before it got too hot - vanilla then cranberry biscuits, a ginger tray bake, two batched of flapjacks, and a lemon meringue pie. The latter was for DS and opportunistic as the cooling oven was perfect for the meringue
I was collected by DS and DGD, off we went to IKEA. He needed pure cotton bedding; they only seem to have polyester ones in Tanzania + the local shops are very badly stocked and expensive.
Lunch at a local cafe, with DGD going off to town for the first of her many events for the rest of the day. I was delivered home, where I iced some of the biscuits. The rest of the baking will be tomorrow, I think.
Today is FAB cafe, then the ladies’ grouping the afternoon. I might not attend as I have barely an hour between the two, the talk doesn’t interest me and the relentless heat getting there and back puts me off.
Keep safe and cool 😎. All the best to the poorly and anxious, Bon voyage to the travellers. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from south Glos, cloudy skies but no chance of rain for the foreseeable future unfortunately. Not before the 24th according to the forecast 😵‍💫

Gosh grandMattie, your baking sounds delicious 😋, I haven’t had lemon meringue pie for years!
My phone consultation was with the Thoracic Nurse Specialist who went through everything in great detail and scared me silly so next is the pre-op at the hospital then the operation which will be in the next month. I clearly will need to look at getting more help when I come home but I have no idea how so I’ll start looking today. At least I now have a contact number if I have any questions.
I popped across the road to see a friend yesterday afternoon, she’s a great walker and is doing the entire coastal path. Has done 70% of it so far! I love hearing how she’s getting on.

Off for a hair trim first thing, looking forward to catching up with my lovely hairdresser. Then I’m going to plan my next embroidery project, I need to keep my mind occupied!

Wishing you all a quiet day 🌹

Good morning from Malta where it promises to be another scorcher with a high of 39°C.

I walked up to the village to post a couple of cards yesterday as the post box nearest to me isn’t collected until late. It was already very hot and airless but not too bad where there was shade.

I was pleased with my hair although I have never sat so long with the colour on and was beginning to worry that my hair would fall out but it was all ok. She was doing colours on four of us at the same time so very busy!

I’m mostly packed, never know what to take so always take too much. I’ve still to pack toiletries, toothbrush etc. I don’t like all the faff involved and have got a nervous stomach so will be glad when we are there!

grandMattie all that baking! I don’t know how you do it. Lemon meringue pie alone is a lot of work. It was DD1’s favourite so I speak from experience 😂

latedecember1963 thank you for your lovely comment yesterday.🤗 I really admire you for taking care of your own Treasure. He’s lucky to have you.❤️

I will try to keep in touch while we are away but will be back on Sunday.

Thinking of you all and hoping things improve for those with illness and/or worries, and that you all have a good day.☀️

r&l, I cheat shamelessly. I use a ready made pastry base, a packet for the filling. The only thing I actually make is the meringue!

Glad things are moving for you RosesandLilac, even though you must be apprehensive about what’s to come. Sending you a big virtual hug.x

Good morning from a hotel in Gloucester! It's got air conditioning so the room is deliciously cool. My train broke down yesterday and hanging around in the heat at a vastly overcrowded station made me feel poorly so I debunked to the nearest hotel and enjoyed a bit of luxury for one night. I'll browse the city centre this morning and then head home. Well, that's the plan anyway, if I can still remember where I live. 😂

Good morning from s somerset, very slight heat decline but is still hot

I spent the absolute whole day decluttering my fabric stash and have catalogued everything. I seem to be aiming for mostly linens and blends but still have viscoses, I never use nor buy polyester.

6 black bags full, I was ruthless and that is why my mind woke me early, I very quietly went to my car and took all 6 bags into my living room. Took out several items and now have a pile to put back upstairs. My mind processed all the lovely comfortable items I have made in the past and I rescued the pretty tencels and some other fabrics

I use an upcycled old office desk for sewing, the presently empty tower cupboard will be filled with all the rescued fabrics. I did well yesterday, in spite of that gung ho initial blip

My watch told me I had a stressful day so I ended by cleaning my machines and started working on the two Charlie sweaters I had already cut out, they will be very handy for cool weather

I think that was a hedonistic day, all about me and what I wanted to do. I won`t overdo it today, just gentle sewing and I need to re-load 5 bags into the car for distribution which has to be done today, before I have some more dreams about keeping stuff
