It’s almost Christmas! I absolutely love Christmas. I love the food, the presents, the music, the lights, the time spent with family... I am, to quote a teenaged relative, “buzzing”, I think that means very excited. Six days and countingtchsmile

Think you would do my head in Tytgad! This day next week will be Boxing Day, yaaaaa! They will all have gone by then!

greyduster are you a grinch then?tchgrin

It's a pleasant enough time. I'm enjoying all the Christmas lunches etc with various groups and the Panto with DGSs and family. The day itself will be nice. We'll have relays of nieghbours in for drinks over the next few weeks. So yes. It's a nice time but I'm not 'buzzing' just glad of all my friends and family. Can't ask more.

Why not Greyduster? Is it the stress or the missing of people?

Tooglamtogiveadamn Wed 19-Dec-18 15:39:42

Why not, greyduster?

Gonegirl Wed 19-Dec-18 15:39:03

Oh God! I'm starting to sound like the sodding Christmas elf now. hmm

Greyduster Wed 19-Dec-18 15:38:19

Er, no.......

Gonegirl Wed 19-Dec-18 15:37:52

Try and create a bit of magic of your own batty. Make an old fashioned paper chain, and bake yourself some mince pies. Do it just for you.

oldbatty Wed 19-Dec-18 15:34:54

It's OK Gonegirl, I have sort of worked it out.

BBbevan Wed 19-Dec-18 15:34:05

Not excited as such ,but really looking forward to Christmas. My 2 DGDs, DS, and DiL are coming to stay. Quite a long journey. Plus my Aunt and my DD and SiL who live near us. Most things are prepared. Just more mince pies to make. Then just wait. The anticipation is always worth it
Happy Christmas everyone

Gonegirl Wed 19-Dec-18 15:32:32

I'm very sorry for you. flowers

oldbatty Wed 19-Dec-18 15:29:41

I didn't have a warmth that never leaves you but something a very very cold which has never left me.

Gonegirl Wed 19-Dec-18 15:27:25

And what's wrong with "the magic of Christmas"? tchgrin

Tooglamtogiveadamn Wed 19-Dec-18 15:24:26

janeainsworth your DS and his DW and your DGC will be with you in spirit.tchsmile Happy Christmas!

oldbatty Wed 19-Dec-18 15:20:13

the magic of Christmas, thanks for that.

janeainsworth Wed 19-Dec-18 15:20:08

I’m a bit excited glam.
My 2 DD’s and their DH’s and our 2DGC are coming to stay & it will be the first Christmas for 3 years that we have all been together.
They will all help so it won’t be a chore.
But we will miss DS & his family who live in the US.

Gonegirl Wed 19-Dec-18 15:19:45

Mildly uninterested would be a shame.

Gonegirl Wed 19-Dec-18 15:19:10

Well, I've just explained why I get a bit excited.

Gonegirl Wed 19-Dec-18 15:18:20

Yes *annodomini it's a so and so the old indigestion isn't it.

oldbatty Wed 19-Dec-18 15:17:36

What are you excited about? Why do we either have to be frothing at the mouth or Scrooge? Can't we just be mildly disinterested?

Gonegirl Wed 19-Dec-18 15:16:56

Although our Christmases were very simple there was a warmth which doesn't leave you.

Gonegirl Wed 19-Dec-18 15:15:58

I do get a buzz from it's oncoming. Nothing to do with family. (That's just work shock Think it's a throwback to the magic of childhood Christmases.

annodomini Wed 19-Dec-18 15:10:42

'Excited' is not a word I'd use about Christmas. I look forward to it of course because it's always nice to have the family together. I miss the older relatives I used to visit or have to visit me, but now I am the 'older relative', the granny in the corner, hoping not to be asked to play charades or Twister; and dreading the indigestion that follows a rich meal!

Gonegirl Wed 19-Dec-18 15:06:51

My acid reflux is bad at the moment, which rather takes the edge off of things.

Gonegirl Wed 19-Dec-18 15:05:36

I can remember a (very) white Boxing Day. Early sixties.
