Hi fed up with juggling plates in oven to keep hot when cooking for Christmas etc so was thinking of buying an electric plate warmer.
Can anyone advise good points and bad points please.
Thank you

I splash each plate with water, pile them up and spin them in the microwave for a minute. Dry with a tea towel and voila! Much cheaper?

Microwave for one minute here - I don't bother with the water.

We’ve got a fabric plug in plate warmer. Rarely use it but it does work, plates are warm rather than hot, bought it from an outlet store, very cheap.

I have a fabric electric plate warmer from Lakeland - just checked and is £39.99. Seems a lot of money but I have used it many, many times and fully recommend it.

I have 3 plate warmers from Waveware microwave plate warmers £14.99 from Lakeland. Use them all the time.

Has Christmas dinner anxiety started early this year?

I’m with you on this subject gonegirl -we’re barely into October too.

Microwave does the job every day here . No water ? - not sure why you would need it ?

Doesn't it mean that the microwaves bounce back onto the magneto (or something) and can wreck the microwave?

Magnetron (asked DH)

Do not bother to heat plates. So no burnt fingers and plates falling out of oven-gloved hands or slippery napkins needed to hold hot plates.

Never had a problem with food cooling because it was put on an unheated plate. We are a family of trenchermen and women so the food soon disappears so doesn't have a chance to get cold.

Stand them upright on your radiators

I must have hot plates. I have a warming drawer in the oven and a heated cabinet for big occasions.
