They are down and put away

I couldn`t wait and put the decs out early december. The first christmas that I felt confident being on my own, 5 years since I was widowed. It has been a lovely lovely time, calm and quiet and homely and I enjoyed the decs very much, until today and suddenly I wanted them away

I spent 4 hours and they are neatly packed ready for next year, on shelves in the garage, my tree is a dowel tree and in a long thin box. I have dusted and re-arranged my living room, hall and kitchen and feel ready for 2020, when I start to make my way forward, joining clubs and making new friends in my new small market town.

This christmas has been cathartic for me and putting it all away today shows me that I am ready and looking forward to, the next stage, the next part of my journey

Well done craftyone you sound super confident and well organized. Things are going well for you glad you had a calm surreal and happy Christmas.

Probably me being old fashioned but I still wait until the twelve nights old custom so mine are still up and still look fresh and pretty. I like to have the tree up with the twinkling lights and when it goes down it seems so dull and gloomy.

Enjoy all the classes and new things you will do in 2020 in fact I am going to do the same get myself out of the house and meet new people. Happy new year to you.

It's over and done with. It's over and done with !!!

Most of the christmas cards and some of the decorations went yesterday. A few more will go today. Is it my imagination or is it getting darker just that bit later now. 4.30 yesterday and it was still light. Bring on summer.

Mine never went up in the first place. Just a few ornaments and the cards to clear away! I really like the back to normal time - and yes, longer days ahead!

I leave mine up until Twelfth Night - oh so traditional. We often have a small party then with neighbours but I also like it to be up at New Year in case we have First Footers.

I have just been for a walk with 4 yr old DGD and her dog around my neighbourhood and she commented on all the wreaths, hearts, lights, flowers, and other decorations people had in their windows.

But for you Crafty happily in your new house and making a fresh start you will be impatient to get going. Unless it's the strange warm weather which is upsetting the body clock?

I`ll be joining U3A and a garden club for starters. I always told myself that I would give myself a year to settle into my new home first. Being content this christmas, it told me that I was ready to move forward another few steps

I also wish you all a very happy new year, 2020, the start of a new decade

Barmey, it is lighter at night.

Sounds like a good idea for you Crafty if it helps you to feel positive for the coming year.
I leave mine up as long as possible as the lights lift my spirits in the dark evenings.😃
