Why listen to the Govt

We are having a fully distanced carol concert on the village green Saturday. Marshalls will direct us to where to stand. I and my bubble witll go along, then walk round the village admiring all the wonderful illuminations so many have put up and then collect a pre-ordered pizza from the wood-fired pizza van in the village hall carpark and go home to eat it after a lovely safe Christmas event.

We should lockdown, in my view, preferably before, or follow NI, Boxing Day lockdown for 6 weeks. That way, it’s clear for those that need guidance.

If we all act responsibly, stay at home and make the best of things we will get through.
I do know that there are exceptions, people with mental health problems and lonely people but in the main let’s pull together and do the right thing.
We can still enjoy our Christmas Fayre, put up the tree and some lights, watch some tv and stay safe.
Pantomime sounds good Monica, I hope your husband is home to enjoy it with you.

Three households could be two grandparents with adult children and their children - maybe ten or more individuals. Just think how many people they could have been in contact with in the days before Christmas. It's asking for trouble, but would be perfectly legal.

But they won't be "stretching laws". The law is allowing people to do more than many think is right.

I am celebrating Christmas in the usual manner. No change for me - just fewer people: me, our bubble, and hopefully, DH home from hospital. DS and family were due on 28th December but are no no longer coming.

However we will be at the pantomime together as usual - the theatre is doing an online showing for those who bought tickets, so we will watch it together and Zoom in the interval.

As I said, no change for me.

I think most people know what the right thing to do is but not all will do it. Laws and guidance can be stretched even though people know they are taking risks
