Ive just watched the Christmas Ad from Aldi and it is truly lovely the best one yet, much better than JLs which I think wasnt very good at all. Love Kevin the carrot and Ebanana and they had Marcus Rachford( radish) and Cuthbert the Caterpiller getting arrested by sour lemons so clever. I feel quite Christmassy now.

As I am someone owned by Boxers, I loved the trampoline Christmas advert. I think the Boxer boy in the ad is now 10 years young.

Sainsburys ad is pretty good too. Can’t stand that JL one.

Aldi tip top love the shop saves me money.

The Aldi and McDonald's are the best I've seen so far.
I don't know how Iceland have got away with pinching some of the John Lewis ad.

Just watched McDonald's Xmas ad, it made me ?. Its my favourite Cyndi Lauper song.

This advert is by far the best I have seen in years! I agree though that the adverts should start on 1st December but some of our relatives have the christmas decorations up already. Maybe there is a need by a lot of people to just have fun and put the last couple of years behind us. Take care and stay safe.

The Aldi advert is really great, but Christmas for me is when I see the Guinness black & white one they show every year. Hate the black stuff though....

Gosh, Alioop! I don't think I've seen a Guinness one!

lol I look forward to Kevin the carot advent every year to see what they come up with. A lot of the adverts have forgotten it’s Christmas time to be cheerful

always loved Kevin the carrot but a very close second has to be the bouncing boxer

Love the Aldi advert. Also love their response to the challenge from M and S regarding Cuthbert the Caterpillar Cake challenge which was humorous! So when I saw Cuthbert being arrested I was sold! Loved it

I don't mind when Christmas starts, (says she watching a Christmas film).

My youngest daughter adores it and has already put the tree up in the hall. Main ones won't go up until December 1st.

But I would have thought many people start Christmas shopping way before December and it's just a happy time for many.

I so agree @Lilydrop ! The Aldi Kevin the carrot ads have knocked all the others out of the ball park for the last few years and this is their best one yet.
When my kids were small we all used to look out for the Coca Cola ads to start feeling Christmassy but now Aldi do the fairytale so much better for the grandkids (and Grannies and mums!)
But I also agree with other commenters though that Christmas is pushed far too early in the calendar. We all know when it is so allow us to retain some of the magic by not seeing tinsel in stores in September or being forced to listen to cheesy songs for 4 months prior to the event. I'd call for a moratorium on any ads before 1st December.

I agree that Christmas shouldn't start until December. Having said that I did go to the Chatsworth Christmas market last week and it was lovely! But if M+S and JL kept their TV adverts back until December, we 'd all be excited to see them, instead of getting fed up with them!

Got to be the McDonald's one for me. Open your heart to the memories you're never too old. I'd love to experience the feelings of childhood again.

Tesco is my favourite ad l feel uplifted when I watch it . The John Lewis ad I find depressing

According to mine it is 2nd December. I have already eaten the 1st's chocolate. Just giving it a taste test.

Yes, it all starts too early, but I can’t see it changing - it’s far too lucrative for the retailers as they push the consumer fest and frenzy, trying to convince us that we need this, that and another for the “perfect” Christmas and had better start in plenty of time whilst they’ve still got it, or else we’ll have a miserable Christmas season, with very disappointed family and friends!

I rather think you crazy Belgians have it right!!? It really should be December... we've all go so used to it being seeped in to our consciousness as early as August! (Yep, seen the ads in shops!) I think we Brits should campaign for a ban on Christmas before 1st December ! Our first choir concert is 4 December after all and no brass banding for DH before December either, so why not ads?!

I would back that absolutely. Too much commercialism today which is why they start it in October.

grannygranby Tue 16-Nov-21 11:11:58

I've only seen the Aldi advert of extended family playing with lots of identities all based round massive dead body of turkey...not good. I look forward to the veggie one when I see it

Just delightful! Any version of Christmas Carol does it for me! It's beginning to feel alot like Christmas ( specially as my choir is already practicing songs for concerts....!)

I love Fairytale of New York and last year played it 10 times in a row. Think I'll play it now!

Aldi’s far out-trumps both JL and Tesco; it’s a lovely ad
